  1. Another guy who makes my extremely unlikely dream of Manaea and Whitson slightly more probable.
  2. The list is full of University of Miami former players, one of which is Braun, and their assistant coach. Combine that with paying a guy 20-30K who has no medical degree for his expert consultation. The evidence is becoming overwhelming.
  3. A new mock with the Cubs taking Manaea and Kevin Ziomek from Vandy. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2013-mlb-mock-draft-6-0-first-two-rounds-including-lottery/28680/
  4. Heh heh. I like Torreyes too, but he should hit over .711-OPS before we can fuss much. One-toolers need to hit first before expecting much buzz. On Vitters, "Some scouts inside and outside organization feel comfortable projecting a .275/20 HR hitter. Brings little intensity to ballpark. Destroys left handers .331/.377/.625. Fielding is only adequate at best." Does an .811 OPS after the ASB, when he wasn't getting babip screwed, along with above average defense at 2B do anything for you? How about increasing his walk rate from 4.8% in 2011 to 7.0% in 2012? 32BB/29K? Oh yeah, he did all this while being 19 in A+ which is a notorious pitcher's league.
  5. How does Torreyes now make the top 31? I still like him more than any other 2B prospect in the organization.
  6. It's time for Theo/Jed to go get Skaggs. The DBacks have Kennedy/Cahill/McCarthy/Delgado/Miley penciled in as their rotation with Hudson coming back eventually. That makes Corbin and Skaggs the odd men out and I can't envision Skaggs sitting in the minors all year.
  7. Yet another pitcher for Arizona. If Towers has a plan I don't get it.
  8. Watch Teheran be the headliner when they're asking the Cubs for Castro. I really don't think they're being jerks or anything. I hate to equate it to fantasy, but haven't you ever had someone approach you about a player and you just don't like anything on their roster? They have one guy who would be a huge overpay and then nothing else that would make you want to make a deal. If the Diamondbacks don't for Baez, which makes sense with their "overreacting to attitude" MO, then it makes sense that there's nothing from us they'd want in an Upton deal short of Castro. For a team like the DBacks adding even more pitching just doesn't make that much sense when you could add a potential impact bat at SS which is a much more pressing need for the organization. I just don't understand Towers at all.
  9. Watch Teheran be the headliner when they're asking the Cubs for Castro.
  10. Castro moving to 2B for Baez, I can't see that happening.
  11. If Vogelbach is able to play a remotely competent LF then his stock is going to skyrocket. He may end up top 50 by the end of next year. A Vogelbach/Almora/Soler outfield is unrealistic, but it's really fun to dream.
  12. I went with Zych, Rondon and Scott. I ended up leaving Trey Martin out.
  13. Pretty shocked Soriano got a deal. With that said, the Nationals are so ridiculously loaded in every facet of the game. That starting pitching is amazing, the bullpen is amazing, that line up is probably the weakest point and even it is really really good. I don't see another team in the NL who is anywhere near as good as the Nats on paper.
  14. Hmm.... Walker/Hultzen, Ackley, Montero? If they're trying to compete now they wouldn't give up Ackley and Montero. I could see Hultzen,Franklin+ another decent piece.
  15. I agree that he would certainly be a nice bench player, but I'm willing to have a lesser player there just so I don't have to hear about how great Lahair is from the meatballs again this season.
  16. I had the privilege of caddying for him a couple times when I was younger. He was an incredibly laid back and just go with the flow kind of guy. Really nice and really funny. Every few holes he'd have me play a couple shots for him because he was busy telling a story to the other guys in group. After wards he signed a golf ball and a picture for me which I still have.
  17. I wonder if the Orioles would pull a surprise move and promote Schoop.
  18. Porcello is by no means bad. He had a 3.91FIP, 3.89xFIP and 4.00 SIERA last year. Every year of his career his FIP,xFIP and SIERA have gotten better. His velocity picked up last year as well. The only reason his ERA looks so bad is that he induces a ton of ground balls and his infield defense is absolutely wretched. Put him on a team with good infield defense and he's a good pitcher. As far s Rondon goes, he's ready to be a closer this year and hits 100MPH.
  19. I'd like love to see a deal resembling DET: Hardy/Marmol CHI: Porcello/Avisail Garcia/Rodon BAL: Garza O's might have to give up another prospect, but it makes a lot of sense for all 3 parties.
  20. O's writer seems to think the Cubs/Tigers/O's are talking 3 way. With pieces like Porcello and Hardy mentioned as well as a Cubs pitcher. http://www.masnsports.com/school_of_roch/2013/01/sifting-through-more-rumors.html
  21. Meadows would really make me unhappy. I really believe Clint Frazier is the guy to have, even though the Cubs are supposedly enamored with Manaea.
  22. He turns 23 on the 8th I believe. So as long as he's signed on the 8th or after he wont count towards the IFA budget.
  23. I went Zych, Martin and Scott. I wanted to go upside more than guys who were close to MLB ready like Loux and Watkins. I also considered Wells and Whitenack.
  24. Don't know how reliable the info is, but a couple people over on PSD were vouching for Joeby231 who said we're the leaders for Aledmys Diaz.
  25. I have to lean towards Amaya, I mean he did put up a 3.000 OPS in Iowa. Seriously though, I like the walk rate and the pop. His Ks are a little too high. Overall though, even at 2B I still prefer Amaya's talent. The only thing I like more about Marco is his glove.
