  1. When was the last time a farm had this kind of offensive potential? I can't think of time when a farm has had this kind of positional talent.
  2. After all these years I'm still shocked at just how stupid the majority of people who cover baseball are. How you can cover a sport as a profession or, worse yet, play it all your life and still not understand it is beyond me.
  3. Are you figuring in the league wide TV money that's supposed to be in the area of 20-25M per team? Probably offset by our drop in revenue. Bring in Cargo and Tanaka and I'm guessing a lot of that lost revenue comes back.
  4. Are you figuring in the league wide TV money that's supposed to be in the area of 20-25M per team?
  5. Yeah, Valbuena would be there until Baez passes super 2 and gets the extra year.
  6. I'll start off by saying this is what I want to see, not what I expect. 1B: Rizzo 2B: Kendrick(Angels get salary relief and Lake) SS: Castro 3B: Baez C: Castillo RF: Schierholtz(Bryant takes over in 2015) CF: Cargo (Vogelbach,Alcantara,Pierce) LF: Beltran(2/24) SP: Samardzija/Tanaka(40+50/5)/Wood/Edwin/Arrieta RP: O'Flaherty(1/4)/Strop/Russell/Parker/Lim/Rosscup/Madson(1/3) Line up 1) Kendrick 2)Castro 3)Cargo 4)Rizzo 5)Beltran 6)Baez 7)Schierholtz 8) Castillo My only concern with the team is that Howie/Castro and Cargo aren't going to take a ton of walks and are very reliant on batting average. On the plus side, there is a ton of powere here and the bullpen has a very real chance of being excellent.
  7. Outside of Maddon, is there really a name that would excite anyone? I just really don't care who the manager is as long as it's not a giant old timey meatball like Sciossia.
  8. I have no interest in double paying for Price. Trading prospects sure, giving him a big contract sure, but both together? No thanks. Unless the desired package is a lot smaller then I think then I don't have a lot of interest. If you're going after Tampa then go after Matt Moore instead.
  9. Irrational optimism for the line up next year with possible additions of Baez and Bryant. Add Ellsbury and Beltran and you have the potential for a monster offense.
  10. Maybe their value is similar, but I'd rather have Abreu and a piece to acquire an elite talent then just Rizzo.
  11. This is a chance to add an elite bat well below what it would cost in FA and without having to pony up a farm crippling prospect package. Open up the wallet and give him what he wants.
  12. I'm disappointed in my self for laughing out loud after reading this.
  13. What is Garcia's appeal? Horrendous plate discipline, moderate power and numbers artificially inflated by a ridiculously high BABIP. How is he really all that different than Junior Lake?
  14. Well he's safely in the top 7 so that's pretty much semantics.
  15. Apparently, the WSox asked for both Gray and Russell for Peavy with no cash included. I hope Beane hung up immediately.
  16. I really don't remember Marte getting much time last year, color me surprised.
  17. Then there will be another half dozen lists that inexplicably still think Lindor is the better prospect.
  18. Is this year's NL rookie class one of the best ever? Between Shelby Miller(2.3), Yasiel Puig(2.5), Jose Fernandez(2.0), Hyun Jin Ryu(1.8), Jean Segura(3.1) and Starling Marte(3.5) this class has half a dozen rookies who could finish with at least 3.5fWAR. It may not have a Harper or a Trout, but the depth is ridiculous.
  19. It's amazing how unnoticed his season is going behind the likes of Matt Harvey and Shelby Miler. He turned 21 just a couple weeks ago and he has posted a 2.74ERA along with a 1.04WHIP. All while striking out more than a batter an inning.
  20. Because he has as many home runs as walks He's also a shortstop who may hit 40HR. The rarity of that is just ridiculous.
  21. I don't see how he can't be a consensus top 10 guy after this year. Perhaps the largest offensive upside in the minors at a defensive premium position.
  22. Taillon+Polanco+Kingham+Stetson sounds pretty nice to me.
  23. Hmm, still at 65289. When I signed up I was hoping I would come up right around 2015, but it's not looking good. If the Cubs get competitive before then it could be a long long wait.
  24. Anyone noticed what Houston prospect George Springer is doing? 27HR, 52 extra base hits and a 1.000 OPS between AA and AAA to go along with his 30.2% K rate. He's got all the makings of a superior BJax.
  25. My response, "yeah, because they were so good with them". He says, "yeah they weren't good, but why trade 2 of the best players on the team". And some other dude says, "They traded Garza for 3 'prospects'. WTF! Does every year have to be a rebuilding year." So, I blocked him. (not really) but I'm not responding and that'll show him! Every time I try to talk baseball with friends I realize that I'm completely ruined for having a discussion with the average fan. The scenario is usually remedied with copious amounts of alcohol.
