  1. The Hosmer signing itself is almost impossible to be that bad, let alone terrible. It's a league minimum signing. Now, it sets up terrible downstream roster and playing time decisions. But the signing itself is pretty much risk-free. The playtime decisions are kind of the point. If this middling Cub team wants to sneak into the playoffs they need some people to outperform projections. Mervis provides that upside. Hosmer's upside is mediocrity. This team isn't talented enough to waste 250 to 300 pa on Hosmer.
  2. So now they're around 11m from cap and still in need of a rp. Assuming they aren't going to give themselves absolutely zero financial flexibility at the trade deadline, I don't see how they can bring in anyone of note without clearing some salary. Where could they even clear a decent amount of cap space? Hendricks?
  3. I don't mind this signing on its own, but it makes the Hosmer signing even more terrible.
  4. If they sign Mancini, that basically guarantees Mervis in AAA. They aren't going to roster Mancini, Hosmer and Mervis.
  5. I'm not sure I can take 4 months of this trade Fields banter.
  6. Good luck getting any in demand coaching candidate after firing new coaches in back to back years.
  7. Payne is pretty much a no excuses must have if he hits the market.
  8. Shocker. I'll take Justin Fields and Will Anderson plus another 1st and some other early round picks. Yeah, unless Bryce Young is an Andrew Luck type of talent then it's pretty much a no brainer. Also, I can't take the thought of Fields going elsewhere to be a franchise QB while Young busts and another terrible chapter is written into Bear QB history.
  9. Things were going so well.....
  10. He has been trending up the last few weeks. I still think he was a bust at his draft position, but at least he looks worthy of a roster spot now.
  11. Ravens down 17. All is well so far.
  12. Cousins might throw for 450 yards today. Thank god for the defensive guru running this team.
  13. 78 wins and a bad offense. This is going to be one miserable team to watch.
  14. Yes, the agent is just saying he has been intubated. Things are far from good. Obviously being intubated is pretty damn bad, but his vitals stabilizing has to be a positive sign, no? In regards to his heart, probably. My initial concern was, how long did he go without oxygen when he wasn't breathing on his own.

  16. Worst defense in franchise history
  17. Another drop.
  18. Hutchinson has Fields figured out
  19. Remember when we were worried about winning this game?
  20. Did any of the receivers even run a route? They looked like they had no idea what was going on.
  21. This oline....
  22. Herbert is just pathetically bad at blocking.
  23. There is no way you can convince me they aren't intentionally tanking. If that was playcalling with intent to win then this team needs a new OC now.
  24. nice catch Pettis
  25. Why is fields even in this game if they wont let him do anything?
