  1. 3 run inning and I don't think 1 ball has hit 90mph
  2. It's kind of amazing that, by ERA, the Cubs have 3 starters in the top 20 in baseball. Steele 2.20(6th), Smyly 2.93(15th), Stroman 2.95(16th) and they're still under .500.
  3. I have very low expectations for Kyle. I know the Mets have vastly underperformed expectations offensively, but there's so much talent that I just don't think it can last forever and a soft tosser like Kyle could spark them.
  4. As I've said in game threads, I was an avid Madrigal supporter even up until this season. While the defense at 3B has been surprisingly good, the quality of contact is just terrible. His average exit velocity puts him in the bottom 3%. It doesn't matter how much contact you make when it's all low to mid 80s exit velocity and you aren't fast enough to leg out those infield singles. I could even tolerate all that if he took walks, but he just doesn't. His 3.1BB% puts him in the bottom 2% in baseball. You cannot have zero power, zero patience and good not great speed. Unless he's hitting .300+ he just doesn't carry any value.
  5. Wisdom vs Kimbrel. Chances of putting the ball in play, almost nothing.
  6. Stroman and Bellinger should bring nice returns. That's something I guess.
  7. Can we start a fire sale trade discussion thread yet?
  8. He's a bit dry and needs a partner who is a bit over the top to even him out. That's why he and Santo were great.
  9. 2 more weak contact at bats by Mervis. Starting to get enough PAs, where I'm worried. Also, this offense is laughably terrible. Morel on a historic heater and they still suck.
  10. I just realized that after more than 25% of the season, the Cubs's save leader is Boxberger with 2. That has to a record right?
  11. Pretty underwhelmed with Mervis. There just aren't a lot of positives to point to so far.
  12. Hoyer has to be gone after this season, right?
  13. Seeing as how there's about a 0% chance the Cubs score 4 more, this is pretty much over.
  14. Just getting to the game now, but having Hosmer, Barnhart and Madrigal all on the field at the same time is just forfeiting.
  15. So now you have to have Amazon for Thursday night games, basic cable for sundays and peacock for the playoffs. Add that to Marquee and Apple + for the Cubs and should I get a 2nd job? Absolutely ridiculous.
  16. Goodbye run differential, hello mediocrity
  17. So, despite living 45 minutes from Wrigley, I can't watch the game without signing up for a streaming service.? Really brilliant marketing MLB.
  18. I was a madrigal defender before the season, but I'm so over him. Who cares if he makes lots of contacts when it's all soft rollers and he has moderate speed.
  19. The 2023 Chicago Cubs, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
  20. The implosion commences.
  21. The futility with men on base is just laughable.
