  1. I wonder how this impacts a possible Bowers selection in next year's draft.
  2. Yeah, I think he definitely needs AAA. I could see him come up to MLB post a 3 BB% and 30K% and completely flounder. I will say he's probably due for a AAA promotion though. His BB% is up to 8.0 in AA from 4.9 in A+ last year. K% has stayed about the same. If he could hold that BB% and get the K% down to about 20, I'd be real excited.
  3. I think what I would hate most if the Cubs were to become buyers is that I can see a scenario where Mervis just stays down in AAA all year.
  4. They also spent most of the game gushing over Jake Burger who has a .766 OPS and .9 fWAR this season.
  5. Fun with run differentials Chicago Cubs +45 49W-51L Baltimore Orioles +48 62W-39L San Diego Padres +52 49W-53L
  6. Wide Receiver leaders are almost as awful as QB. The all time receiving leader for the Bears is Johnny Morris from 1958-1967 at 5059 yards. That's the lowest in the NFL for a franchise leader. The 3rd worst franchise is the Titans/Oiler at 7935 yards. Then of course number one is Jerry Rice at 19247. 5059 is so pitifully low that 26 year old DJ Moore would already be the franchise's leader receiver at 5201 receiving yards.
  7. I agree, but I'm really getting the impression that short of a blow them away type of deal, Bellinger is just going to ride his time out here. They'll give him a qualifying offer and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were in on him in FA. For whatever reason the front office seems to like Bellinger quite a bit more than Stroman.
  8. Another game that is kind of a must win if they want to be buyers.
  9. I think I've fallen into the camp where I believe it's more likely they keep Bellinger than trade him, unless they completely fall on their faces over the next week. With that said, I think you have to go after their extreme pitching depth. I'd love to land Max Meyer and Dax Fulton would be a nice option too. I'm not sure Eder would be available, but he'd be a great get too. PS: Thank god the Cubs didn't select Jacob Berry last year, what a disaster for a "safe pick"
  10. Do the WSox really have a "He Gets Us" advertisement behind homeplate...so damn gross
  11. I didn't realize there was a Cub broadcast, I've been putting myself through Stone for no reason apparently.
  12. Kyle is going to be lucky to get through 5 if he doesn't start getting more efficient
  13. Imagine that, no Amaya. I suppose I should just be thankful there's no Mancini or Barnhart.
  14. If the "insider" over on Mets Refugees is to be believed, the Mets have been heavily scouting Aranda the last week or so and has become their focus if a deal comes together.
  15. Not that it matters with the other 19 guys already signed, but I'm pretty shocked he got a 300k overslot. The Cubs are clearly more enthused than I am.
  16. Harbaugh is likely suspended the first 4 games of this up and coming season after lying to investigators. Of course he'll miss exactly 0 games where they stand any real chance of losing so the punishment is basically a big nothing. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/38069030/source-michigan-jim-harbaugh-facing-4-game-suspension
  17. Ah, I assumed it was 4 EST since ESPN always lists times in EST.
  18. Down to 2 hours, so I think it's pretty unlikely at this point.
  19. Even with his horrendous start to the year and his modest .278/.335/.364 line so far he has put up .7 fWAR in 53 games. That's 2.13fWAR per 162 which isn't awful. If he's a .300 hitter he's more like a 3 fWAR guy. The biggest issue is will he ever get anywhere near 100 MLB games, let alone 162 to build up that value.
  20. Oh please can I pay $20/m to watch a mediocre team and the same half dozen programs that run continuously whenever there isn't a game on? Where do I sign up?
  21. They basically have to win these next two if they want to realistically become buyers. Hopefully Hendricks has a good showing win or lose for trade value purposes.
  22. Part of me would like them to basically get a redo in 2024, but all that really does is delay the talent another year.
  23. It's definitely an assumption, but how often have we seen players go into cardiac arrest on a court and return?
  24. Well if CBS is to be believed, there wont be much trade return since they don't even have him ranked in the top 10 players available at the trade deadline and behind such players as Jeimer Candelario, Paul Dejong, Jordan Hicks and Michael Lorenzon.
