  1. It would appear that neither Ohtani or Yamamoto signing were the damn breaking events we had hoped for.
  2. What must it be like to have a gm who identifies a need, decides on a guy who fills that need then does what is needed to land him instead of hoping talent somehow falls into their hands.
  3. If I'm making a deal with Atlanta, Kyle Pitts is coming back. I've never seen talent so wasted in all my life, it's completely baffling.
  4. You mean the NBA where star players funnel themselves onto a handful of teams and the rest of the league sucks?
  5. You ever wake up, check the forums, see 3 or 4 pages of new posts, start reading then regret you're never getting those 5 minutes back?
  6. Yamamoto took the Met offer, ran it to LAD and they matched it. He completely used the Mets, which would usually be funny to me, but I hate the Dodgers more.
  7. I'm seriously pondering giving up baseball at this point. 1 billion on 2 players.
  8. The haul for 1 is going to be pretty huge to the point where I'd almost be disappointed if they didn't move it. I'm not in love with Williams or Maye and while I'd love to have MHJ, I'd like even more to have a top 10 pick this year, a 2nd this year and a first in 2025 and 2026 plus whatever else they manage to squeeze out of whoever.
  9. You see what you've done Jed! This is the offseason banter we're left with.
  10. Yes, open the market like Ohtani signing was supposed to.
  11. A month ago I never would have guessed we'd get to Christmas without any type of ml roster related move. On it's own that's a long wait for a move, but add in the surge of expectations following signing Counsel and it makes it feel much worse.
  12. I think he's a great target, but there are causes for concern too, which would probably be the only reason the Astros would be making him available in the first place. His GB% was the lowest it has ever been in the majors in 2023(54.2%) coming off 66.5% the previous year and 70.3% the year before that. His LD% is up and his FB% is way up from 2022. His HARD% is up over 7% and his SOFT% is down roughly 5%. Strangely, his fastball velocity was actually up in 2023(95.3) from 94.0 in 2022. It makes me wonder if the extra velocity is coming at the cost of movement and that's letting people square him up more often. It's kind of like how Carlos Zambrano could reach back for 98 when he wanted it, but when he was at his best he was sitting around 94 with significantly more downward movement on his pitches.
  13. Has anyone from the Dolphins been talked about as a potential for the Bears inevitable open OC slot? I know they have Tyreek and Waddle, but whoever was in charge of Tua made some miracles happen.
  14. I don't have metrics to back it up, but my eye test tells me Davis has been awful.
  15. Unless they're signing one in FA, drafting a C is basically a must and what I'd like to use a 3rd on.
  16. Perhaps I've missed it, but one guy I've heard linked to absolutely no one so far has been Blake Snell, which is surprising given he was arguably the 2nd best FA pitcher on the market who can actually pitch in 2024.
  17. We're getting to a sample size, where it's really hard to refute this is a better team with Lavine not on it, but I just can't imagine them actually benching him even if him playing makes them worse.
  18. There were no positives to take from the offensive performance. Yeah, Fields probably had a 100 yards of drops and 2 INTs that weren't his fault, but he still didn't do enough to sustain any drives and is it just me or did he completely ignore the middle of the field inside of 15 yards? No slants or short crossing routes that I recall. The Oline had their worst game since early this year, the WR/RB/FB blocking was awful, like awful awful. The running game was the equivalent of taking a knee and yet Getsy decided over and over that he would try a pitch or a sweep that would inevitably end up in a 3 or 4 yard loss. Putting them in 2nd and 10+situations more or less dooming the drive.
  19. I say this as a person who drafted him as my fantasy QB, but as a passer, he has looked very average this year and considering he has a WR duo arguably as good as the Tyreek Hill/Jaylen Waddle combo and he has one of the best Olines in the league, his season has been a huge disappointment. Then again, a lot of the usual big names have been pretty bad by their standards they've set. This is the worst season I remember Mahomes having and Allen, Herbert, Burrow and Lawrence are all having/had down years as well.
  20. Jalen Hurts has been really mediocre this year. 19TD to 12 INT a year after he went 22TD to 6 INT.
  21. I'm honestly kind of terrified to take Caleb Williams, perhaps irrationally so, seeing what a worse version of him in Bryce Young is doing. I'd be ok with Maye, but Maye might be a guy who throws 25 TD and 20 INT in his first season and I can see Chicago going into mass panic with that.
  22. Yeah, he's been checked out for a while now.
  23. Cutting off routes(which he did yesterday) and not coming back to the ball(which he also did yesterday) are things he's done repeatedly this year. It's like he's running a distraction route and he's surprised when the ball actually comes his way.
  24. You're missing the point. The point isn't about what we've missed, the point is that, with each FA off the board, those teams who didn't win the bid will pivot to other players potentially putting more competition on the guys the Cubs want.
