  1. My most memorable moment of the decade was Game 2 of the NLCS. I witnessed Sosa hit the ball over the camera fixture in center field. It was easily the most epic homer I have ever seen.
  2. It's true. Beal will be there along with the entire Chaminade team. This recruitment is going to be pretty interesting going forward, but Self certainly got a big leg up on Weber by inviting the entire team. He pretty much made sure Beal would be in Lawrence by doing that. Also KU's Madness is way sweeter than the one at Illinois.
  3. Very excited about the Egwu commitment. We needed a big man in this class and got the best one in the state. Purdue really had me worried.
  4. Yeah, that's a pretty douchy thing to do by Miklasz there. And that's exactly what he was doing. Awww, our prized OF screwed up and Mizzou [expletive] themselves and it's rained 27 inches here in the last 24 hours. Let's deflect and point and laugh at the Cubs! St Louis went 0-3 on it's epic sports day. I had a major smile on when I went to class today. Now if only my paper would write itself. I think the best part about this is I have a bet with a friend that the Cards would get swept, ten bucks to win a hundred. The fact that they lost in such Cublike fashion yesterday makes it that much better. Cards Suck, Blues Suck, Mizzou Suck.
  5. It's getting even uglier. Bobby was offered a nice "going-away" package in the $5MM range and including staying for 1 more year (so his last game would be a home game), but Jimbo gets final say over everything including coaches (where he would remove the entire staff on the D side of the ball). The major sticking point is that Andrews wants to retire, and Bowden wants Amato as the DC - when Fisher can't stand Amato, going as far as talking Andrews into coming back this year so that Amato wouldn't be the DC. Bobby said "Nope." Now both sides are hunkering down for battle, knowing that Bobby gets a $1MM check when he leaves, and his contract runs out at the end of this year. FSU and the BoT are leaning towards letting him walk away without any second thought. The question is why are they restricting themselves to Jimbo Fisher? Maybe he could thrive without Bowden (I sort of doubt it) but if Weis survives this year, FSU is easily the best job on the market. With Meyer at Florida and Miami plus USF looking strong getting the right coach is critical. One bad hire and you're looking at potentially a decade or longer of mediocrity. I question the Fisher move, too. If FSU weren't married to Fisher, who do you think they should pursue? RON ZOOK!
  6. There isn't anything. I don't like our chances on him. Sounds like his paarents want him away from Illinois. It seemed like a fun thought to entertain for a while, but I think you are right. Basketball season can't arrive quick enough
  7. Egwu is visiting Illinois on Oct. 4th. I'm hoping we land the commitment. Egwu, and TA would be a great way to start the class. Has anyone heard any news on Quincy Miller's visit Sept. 26th, I cannot find anything.
  8. I'm a huge Packers fan, but I just cannot see them going up to Minnesota and winning. The offensive line is awful, so we won't be able to run the ball against the Vikings. Allen Barbre can't block anything, and he will be facing Jared Allen coming off the outside with his ears pinned back on every play. Ced Benson and Steven Jackson both had good games against the Pack in the last two weeks, so I am looking for Peterson to have a strong game. Put all these factors together and I do not think that Green Bay has what it takes to win in the dome. As a side note, I really hate Aaron Kampman standing up. Trade him to a team that runs a 4-3 in the offseason so he can do what he does best. I am sure that there is good value to be had for him with his motor and the way he rushes the passer.
  9. Rams fans and Jags fans are tied for the worst fan bases in the NFL. Not worst in the [expletive] sense, just worst in the apathetic category. The EJD was pretty lifeless today, but I'm glad GB got the win. Next week should be fun, and if we can somehow steal the win we will be in first with wins over the Vikes and Bears. That would be a great position to be in this early in the season. Allen Barbre really really sucks, so I hope Rodgers is ready to see a lot of Jarred Allen next week.
  10. I had no idea that Shannon has lead that type of life. That is really amazing to overcome those sort of odds.
  11. Illinois 13 OSU 49. It ain't gonna be pretty. Well on our way to a 1-4 start.
  12. Greetings one and all, I'll be at the Rams v. Packers game on Sunday with my Dad. After last Sunday's turd of a game, I am optimistic the Pack will handle the Rams easily. Jarret Bush is by far the worst player on the Packers roster, and I have no clue how he stays in uniform. Another great move by Packers management. Green Bay will not make the playoffs (again) this year because our offensive line is a giant piece of human excrement. If Rodgers doesn't have time to throw the offense doesn't work. I think the offense is a little too focused on going vertical, and I would like to see a lot more quick slants in the offense to get the ball out quicker. That was the formula for success in 2007, and our receivers are all great YAC guys.
  13. Indeed winning always beats losing especially when Cardinals fans are involved.
  14. Lets get it together. I'm really sick of Cardinals fans telling me we are ten games back. And being forced to listen to Nelly at least three times a night at the bar.
  15. If Cutler could back it up the Broncos would have been in the playoffs last year.
  16. I really like Phillip Rivers. The guy is a fierce competitor, and a real cocky [expletive], I like that kind of fire in a QB. He is also really starting to come into his own. I'm wondering if the Giants stuck with Rivers what would have happened.
  17. I went out to Mesa for 2007 spring training with my Dad. I have never seen so many trailer parks in my life. But I loved the experience, and would go again, no matter where the Cubs choose to host ST. I do agree with the point that Mesa needs the Cubs more than the Cubs need Mesa. It's not exactly paradise down there.
  18. He wanted to be with the Vikings all along. If the Vikes were to trade for him the Jets would have lost their next 3 1st round picks to the Packers I believe. In my opinion this was well orchestrated by all parties to get him to Minnesota. The Jets were moving on with Sanchez, and Favre still wanted to play, so he fake retired (again), and then played the "aww shucks I'm thinking about coming back card" again.
  19. This is awesome, I wish I didn't miss all the cool Illinois basketball stuff by a year.
  20. Yep, I hope we knock his ass out. Nov 1st is going to be so un real. Is this the general feeling among Packers fans? How long will it take for these wounds to heal? Years. This finally puts the Vikes ahead of the Bears in my book.
  21. Why can't we give Kevin Gregg a fake injury? I really don't care who closes, but I'm guessing it will be Marmol. If thats the case it will probably be just as bad as having Gregg in there.
  22. That just screams FOOTBALL to me. Well done. I wonder what Hanson did?
  23. Just go ride your tractor, douchebag.
  24. Wow that is really disturbing. The NCAA needs to be abolished, the double standard has gotten to be out of hand.
  25. Brit Miller scored two TD's for the Niners last night. I never thought the words Brit Miller and NFL TD would ever appear in the same sentence.
