  1. Illinois is totally going to get fucked. I can already feel it.
  2. Temple v. Rhode Island just started., Another big game for bubble watchers. Let's go Owls
  3. I disagree. Cole played solid D yesterday and was all over the floor on loose balls. He can get hot and fill it up as well. Paul has been very active on the boards lately, but I don't trust him on the offensive end to make smart decisions. I am also scared of Minnesota. With a win today I think they move solidly into the field. If we get blown out by OSU I could see the committee taking our bid and giving it to Minny. Although I don't think a win is necessary at this point, I think we need to play solidly today to ensure a birth. We also really need UTEP to pull out this game over Houston.
  4. Nothing to see here, just baseball continuing on in its quest to ruin itself
  5. I think he will end up being a better player than Richmond.
  6. http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/herald-review.com/content/tncms/assets/editorial/8/bd/838/8bd83892-2c0f-11df-a17c-001cc4c002e0.image.jpg?_dc=1268203116 Very Excited to have this in Orange and Blue next year. Video available here http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1227007648038. Well worth the click.
  7. Wisconsin gets talent. Hughes, Bohannan, Nankavil, and Leurer were all four star rated by Scout. Recruiting wise this is a lot better than what Illinois has trotted out on the court over the past 3 to 4 years.
  8. Plus we would need every single torunament to go as planned. We need two wins to get in, imo. I can't see us beating a full strength Wisky team. That's the biggest problem. Even if we beat Wisky the bubble is going to shrink too much. Real sad to think our season was determined in a high school gym in Las Vegas.
  9. I hope Bruce is smart enough to know that his bread is buttered by Jereme's success. Both will be defined by each other.
  10. I like Cole's shooting off the bench, and think he would provide a good spark there. Richmond will likely follow the McCamey career path and always be in Bruce's dog house. Lucky for him he has the talent to say [expletive] you and go to the NBA. Davis shouldn't start, he is just too enigmatic, and brings no energy to the floor. Tisdale needs to work on his grip, and is still a Nick Smith look alike in the post.
  11. Yeah he is the Dusty Baker of college basketball. Leonard is the best big man to come into the program since Cook and will struggle to get tick. Weber really frustrates me. I don't want Leonard playing thirty minutes a game but he should get more time than Griffey got this season. I'd like to see a starting five next year of: McCamey, Richardson, Richmond, Griffey, and Tisdale. With a bench of: Cole, Leonard, Davis, Paul, Bertrand, Head
  12. I don't know about that. I'm sure he'd rather make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year overseas than be the whipping boy. Was it his fault Tisdale dropped two great passes from him that should of been dunks, or that Davis airballed an open 10 footer when we were surging and back within 5? Once that happened DMac forced a bad shot, but I can understand why he's frustrated with the lack of talent around him. It's like a broken record, depth and talent. The two things missing from this team. I just hope that Leonard grabs a significant portion of the front court minutes next year because Davis has looked awful this year.
  13. And none of those players are ball handlers. Bertrand is apparently lacking in this area as well. Unless we take a PG for 2010 it'll be a lot of JJ. I've heard just the opposite. From what I've seen it sounds like Bertrand, while not a true PG, has the best handles of any of the guys brought in this year. That could be wrong, but it ounded like he was going to get the backup PG minutes this year has he been healthy. Just saying what I've read recently. Take it for what it's worth.
  14. Pray McCamey comes back, otherwise we are going to see WAY too much JJ. I believe he'll come back it'll only improve his draft position. If he doesn't, I don't know if we'll necessarily see way too much of JJ. Weber values defense, if Paul improves or say, Richmond or Head play good D they'll get the minutes over JJ. And none of those players are ball handlers. Bertrand is apparently lacking in this area as well. Unless we take a PG for 2010 it'll be a lot of JJ.
  15. Care to mention any names?
  16. Pray McCamey comes back, otherwise we are going to see WAY too much JJ.
  17. I agree, Illinois is now on the right track. But the last five years have been awful due to the complete lack of depth. That falls squarely on Weber. The fact he was able to make last years crap heap of 2 star rag tags into a 5 seed shows he can coach.
  18. wait, 2 years ago you were saying that these WOULD be the good players no, i said that we'd have them eventually. i wasn't planning on a tourney bid this year. they're not good enough to win this young. the groundwork has been laid, though. We should have never been in this position to begin with, and that is the thing that pisses me off the most about Mid Major Bruce. You can't miss on 3 of 4 recruiting classes. This goes beyond Eric Gordon, it goes to a total lack of talent and depth. I do think we will be much improved next year, and now that McCamey has come back to earth, I think he will come back.
  19. wait, 2 years ago you were saying that these WOULD be the good players We have good players, it's just there is still a lack of depth within the program. Weber effectively got nothing out of his recruits in 05, 06, and 08. You can't depend on freshmen to play well the entire season (unless they are super recruits), and Illinois has been an example of this.
  20. 1. MSU: Great fan base, much more realistic than IU's. Strong tradition built by Izzo, but his successor will struggle to live up to the tradition of excellence. 2. Indiana: Great tradition, but you will always be in RMK's shadow. Fan base is delusional, but will always be loyal to the team. Great state to recruit in. 3. Illinois: Strong basketball state. Another delusional fanbase with unrealistic expectations. Strong basketball tradition, good practice facilities, and a renovated or new arena is in the works. Biggest challenge is recruiting Chicago. 4. OSU: New arena, good basketball tradition. Fans are more interested in football, and lack passion in my opinion. High population state which has produced NBA talent recently. 5. Purdue: Upgraded facilities are on the way, but will always play second fiddle to IU. 6. Michigan: Has struggled for a long time but is a sleeping giant. Arena sucks, fan base cares more about spring football. 7: Wisconsin: Great facilities. Really no tradition until the last decade. Ryan is a perfect fit here. 8: Iowa: Hampered by lack of instate talent. When they recruit Illinois they are decent. 9: Minnesota: Love the Barn. Fan base gets interested when the team plays well. 10. PSU: meh 11. NU: Coach will always be reminded NU has never made the tourney.
  21. losing 5 of 7 isn't top 25 material in your world? I can't help but think this is due to their high preseason ranking
  22. I still think that with Jake Kelly, Iowa would have been semi-decent this year. That transfer really hurt the program, but he left for the right reasons.
  23. Good, but very costly win.
  24. The injury itself didn't look too violent, not that I'm a doctor or anything. He's currently sitting on the bench, I'm optimistic he'll be back before the season is over...Hopefully he can be a leader from the bench for now. Yet another Purdue fan on the board or is this someone just changing their name? Our season is still pretty shot if he is out for any more than a game or two. If he is out we lose to Michigan State and lose the Big Ten. That costs us a 1 seed. If he is then still out for the Big Ten Tourney our best would be semi-finals which costs us a 2 seed. If he then comes back he would likely be rusty and I wouldn't like our chances past the first round being a 3 or 4 seed. You don't know how bad it is yet so quit hitting the panic button. I know how you feel though because the same thing happened to Illinois right before tournament time last year. With that said you still have Johnson and Moore to shoulder the load, which is a heck of a lot better than most teams.
  25. Because it's not basketball it's Wojo slap the ground bull [expletive]. It's not emphasizing a foul, it's acting like a clown As much as I hate Kramer, I'm pretty sure there have been plenty of floppers in every program.
