  1. Time to order that Castro jersey. I'm sold.
  2. I've been following this on gametracker and my question is whether this is this actually worth going home to watch?
  3. Not nearly as much as Brewer fans will hate Prince Fielder when he defects to the Cubs. It really is the reasonable option over 10 years of Pujols. Agreed But how many years will it take to sign Prince? He's certainly a great option over the next 2-3 years but we don't need another Soriano on our hands.
  4. The 49ers select Aaron Williams, Texas CB.
  5. The hockey game is going to OT, it's been much more entertaining than the Cubs.
  6. Well Silva wasn't his mistake, and he got rid of Bradley while acquiring Silva. That's a push in my book. If Bradley wasn't traded I doubt Jimbo would have cut him loose the same way he did with Silva. This is all pure conjecture and worth nothing though.
  7. Who would you rather have pitching in this situation? I realize he's just eating an inning in a game we're not going to win. Why not bring up someone else and give them a chance? His career statistics are terrible. He looks terrible now. He's always looked terrible. He shouldn't be on the roster. That would require Hendry to admit he made a multimillion dollar mistake. Not gonna happen.
  8. The award is the Big Ten POTY, but it seems like this has gone to the classic best player vs. most valuable player debate. If we're going to argue that this is in fact a most valuable player award then I would say the list goes 1) Battle 2) JJ 3) Sullinger. If this is the best player in teh big ten then there's not much doubt it should be Sullinger. I do not think JJ was an egregious choice by any standard, and I think he was deserving of the award.
  9. He won't. Drug use, two fights with teammates, and failed classes. No way. Enjoy Europe.
  10. link He was probably going to flunk out anyways. Good riddance.
  11. That was crap. Total crap. Horrible. Illinois would have beat both of those teams tonight.
  12. I saw the news this morning and the only reaction I could bring myself to is a big steaming pile of "meh." I'm not sure who else Mizzou was looking at, but this certainly seems underwhelming from the outside looking in.
  13. The more I think about this, the more I think it just boils down to Painter running away from his crappy recruiting so he doesn't get slammed the same way Weber did. He's never going to win like this at Purdue again. They've peaked and he wants out. Just a theory.
  14. Maybe the football team will continue its upswing... In Conference USA
  15. Dear Purdue: please hire weber, i'm sick of clown ball.
  16. 14 Team; 6x5; Average is replaced with total hits. C: Joe Mauer 1B: Kendry Morales 2B: Aaron Hill 3B: Mark Reynolds SS: Alexi Ramirez OF: Ryan Braun OF: Matt Kemp OF: Carlos Lee OF: Sean Rodriguez Bench: Ike Davis Bench: Theriot P: Kershaw P: Josh Johnson P: Garza P: Nolasco P: Jurjens P: Gavin Floyd P: Drew Storen P: Evan Meek Bench: Javier Vazquez
  17. Georgia Tech still hasn't hired Paul Hewitt's replacement. NC State is also looking for a coach. I think that both jobs are better fits for Smart given his history.
  18. This seems like just a way for Painter to get a raise. Although it is funny because there are plenty of other jobs out there which he could have feigned interest in. Maybe as mentioned a while back it is a way for him to advocate for Cuonzo Martin.
  19. Is Arkansas really a better job? The SEC is hot garbage and has been for some time. It's not, but apparently a 10% raise and his past there was enough to convince him I guess. The situation sucks, but at least I don't have to worry about Jimmy Sexton's sleaze anymore, and Mike Alden has made very good hires for a decade running. Hopefully the new guy can get some momentum with a senior heavy team next year and then make some headway with his own guys. Keeping Phil Pressey and/or getting Otto Porter would be a nice bonus too. You said right here it's not a better job, and you still haven't supported why Mizzou is a better job than Arkansas. Other than the brand new "Mizzou Arena" I cannot think of a single advantage Mizzou has over Arkansas. Sure, Mizzou is a decent program, but its nothing special. "Arkansas is not a clearly better job than Mizzou" is not the same as "Mizzou is clearly a better job than Arkansas". Now you're changing the words around. It only says "better job" not "clearly better job." If that is the debate then I would probably be inclined to agree with you that Arkansas is not clearly better. However, you agreed with Andy that it was not a "better job," which implies you think Mizzou is either equal to or better than the Arkansas job. I don't believe that to be the case, and that's where my argument was coming from. I'll just shut up now, and we can just agree to disagree. With that said, I hope Mizzou does not regress back to Snyder era performance with their next hire. I hate losing to you, but the last couple years have been much more fun.

  21. No kidding. One tournament win since 1999 and they haven't even been on the radar since 1995. And they've had to compete against all those basketball crazy schools like LSU, Alabama, Auburn and the two Mississippi teams. I'm surprised any coach would want to take that challenge. Arkansas has been to six Final Fours or the 10th most all time. Arkansas has a National Title. Arkansas plays in a 20K seat arena. Arkansas is arguably the second most successful program in SEC history. Arkansas is a program where you can win big. Mizzou has 0 Final Fours, has never won the Big 12, and ranks below Kansas, Texas, OSU and arguably Kansas State in terms of basketball tradition. Arkansas is a step up from Mizzou, and you were just used the way Self used Illinois. Accept it and move on.
  22. They've spent half of the last decade under .500 and have one tournament win in the last 11 years. Their fans, to steal my favorite description, are "Kentucky on a boxed wine budget". That may be true, but its still a better job, and you've said nothing to indicate otherwise. If you are going to base the desirability of a job on tournament wins, then Butler and Xavier must both be better jobs than Indiana. Arkansas is a good but not great program in a down period, while Mizzou is still searching for a Final Four and has never won the Big 12.
  23. Is Arkansas really a better job? The SEC is hot garbage and has been for some time. that's part of what makes it a better job. he'd have half a chance at finishing 2nd or 3rd in that league. Arkansas is a far better job. It's arguably the number two job in the SEC. The fans are committed. They've won a national title. I'm not saying its a top level job, but its certainly a step up from Mizzou in the hierarchy of college basketball programs.
  24. God, this is like a poor mans Bill Self cry fest. Arkansas is a better job, and he's going home.
