  1. How does 6-10 weeks = best case is 3rd round? If its 6 weeks he's back with 3 games left in the regular season, if its 10 weeks you are talking about mid second round. Also yes, that LTIR thing is a great silver lining. Praise be to Kane for getting hurt before the deadline unlike his UC counterpart. 10 weeks is late 2nd round early 3rd round. Broken collarbone in a contact sport like hockey probably would take longer to return from. As for Kane getting hurt, there is no positive in that, that was not what I was saying.
  2. 6-10 weeks or more. Best case is the 3rd round of the playoffs if they make it that far. Hawks won't catch STL now and WPG won't catch them. I did hear since Kane will be on LTIR they could possibly bring in a big name via trade before the deadline, and if Kane were to return for the playoffs he would not count against the cap as the cap is thrown out the window for the playoffs.
  3. What 2 on 1 lasts a full minute? Some hockey fan you are mister. Did you see Handzus play last year?
  4. I'm definitely a hockey fan, and this percentage is high, but probably not by a ton. Hockey fans are definitely odd birds as a collective group. They are for sure, I do get tired of hearing " Ive been coming here since the 60's" I saw Hull and Mikita play, so get off my lawn. Those types annoy me. But so do the damn, 20 something frat boy who gets up while the puck is in play.
  5. Then 98% of hockey fans must be weirdos. Besides they have beer vendors all over the aisles anyway if you get the shakes for a lack of alcohol .I agree with intermission time being a [expletive], that's why I usually shoot down to the bathroom when the last break before the period occurs. I fail to see how people can be so inconsiderate, dumb, or complete assholes to other people trying to watch a game. Hockey is different, there isn't much scoring, people don't want some jerk getting up while Kane is on a 2 on 1 because they can't wait a minute for a whistle.
  6. When they have a wait list 10K deep I guess they get arrogant. I have a 9 game partial package, three of the games fell on Friday/Saturday, I sold them and it covered the cost of the entire package. The fans that show up now, at least on the Fri/Sat nights are there just to drink, they don't "wait for the whistle" its a pain. Waiting for the whistle sucks. Why? So you can piss off the people sitting behind and next to you? Because you are attending a sporting event, and the need for beer can come about at any time. As long as you aren't lingering, you aren't bothering me. If seeing other humans move while watching a sporting event bothers you I think you have mental problems. They even have Toews doing a public service announcement talking about waiting for the whistle, they have ushers not letting people to their seats from the concourse. It's not something new, its not something mental. Commercial breaks occur after the 6:00, 10:00 and 14:00 minute mark, if people don't have enough common sense to wait for a couple minutes so they can buy some shitty budweiser they deserve to get yelled at. This isn't basketball or baseball where it isnt really a big inconvenience, in hockey it is.
  7. Good. There's not much worse than fans bitching about lesser fans attending games. It's great that there a new fans coming to the game, but at the same time respect the other paying customers.

  9. Giving Rosival that 2nd year was a big mistake by Stan. I do think at least for this year the defense can be fixed on the fly. After all they are 3rd in G.A.A, but they are having trouble bringing the puck up ice and generating offense. TVR hopefully will be back and healthy, perhaps they get someone at the deadline and its fixed for the postseason. Sharp will snap out of it, hopefully Bickell turns it on in the postseason again. I still think they have a chance at the Cup again as good a chance as anyone else. For the playoffs Keith-Seabrook Hammer-Oduyla TVR-New guy Runblad Rosival can work the UC parking lot

  11. Wasn't there a similar rumor going around about that over the summer? I don't understand why Sharp has been on the 3rd and 4th line? His shooting percentage is about half of what it usually is. That has a lot to do with bad luck, similar to what Hossa was going thru this year until a couple weeks ago.
  12. Yup, and yet they still were 2nd in Goals against prior to this week. So I laugh at all the nonsense blaming Crawford.
  13. Twitter consensus is that they're setting up the salary cap for a trade. History has shown that Stan will go out and get a defenseman when he needs to with decent results. Campoli was decent until he coughed up the turnover that led to the OT winner against Van. Oduya was an integral part of the 2013 run. I think we'll see Erixon to IR or waived before the deadline. Cuminsky lasts until TVR returns unless they need to add his salary to equation. All this means that the Hawks could now get a D man currently making ~$3 million provided that the other team is willing to pay half (which is the max) of the remaining cap hit. Without capgeek it's hard to know for sure but I think those figures come out under the cap. Also I'm assuming the guy we are looking to acquire has to be an expiring contract correct? Edit: or at least should probably be, but I guess we can deal them in the offseason if we need to. Rumor is Glencross from Calgary. Darling signed to a two year extension last night. Raanta will be gone soon. I wouldn't be suprised to see Shaw gone by next week or at the latest over the summer. I think that's why they brought Hartman up for a few games.

Without capgeek it's hard to know for sure but I think those figures come out under the cap. Good thing they couldn't figure this out before the season when they got rid of Leddy. Also, good thing they gave a 500 year old Roszival a 2 year deal when they didn't need to. And gave Crawford more than they probably had to. And got Versteeg back for little reason. Can't really bag on Stan after his 2010-2013 cap wizardry, but this is a big deadline for him. It was either Leddy, Oduyla or Sharp. I think at the time that was the right decision, although what they are missing is speed on the back end now. As for Crawford his deal isnt that bad. And I know people on Facebook at least are blaming him for the slump but since the 15th, not including shootout goals the Hawks have scored 1,2,1, and 2 goals. That is the biggest problem At the end of the day, they will have to go thru St Louis, Nashville, LA, and some Eastern team to win the Cup. I think I still like their chances as much as anyone else. It is maddening that Teuvo is down at Rockford, its also equally maddening Rosival is anywhere but the pressbox. I like coach Q, but WTF?
  15. Just bring on the playoffs. I want to find out if the Hawks are just coasting or simply not as good as years past. I think they will be fine, its frustrating yes but Boston is in playoff mode right now as was Colorado, while the Hawks are in February mode.
  16. It's not really a loser point though. Both teams are awarded a point at the end of regulation tied. The 3rd point is awarded to the winner of either OT or the shootout. Its these 3 point games that are frustrating/ making them more important than a regulation game that ends with two points awarded. I guess make all games 3 point games would make the most sense. Or just make OT 10 mintutes long and if no score just let it be a tie, although that would make OT boring like it was before 2005 when teams would just go into a shell to preserve the 1 point.
  17. It would be like if baseball went to a homerun derby if the game was tied after 9 innings, or basketball went to a free throw contest. It's only there to "declare a winner" and a "loser"
  18. THIS There is no freaking reason to have loser's points. You play for 65 minutes and its still tied, you take your point and move onto the next one. No need to add a skills competition to force a winner. I wonder how many times a playoff spot was decided by a team with more shootout wins. I'm sure its not a ton but it's probably happened. Off the top of my head 2010 Flyers, got in because they won the shootout in the last regular season game. Of course we all know they made it all the way to the Cup Final only to lose to the Hawks
  19. Yeah the shootout sucks, might as well play beer pong or checkers to decide the "winner point". Or just leave as a damn tie like it used to :banghead: Hawks now have points in 7 straight games. I know they are 2-0-3 on homestand, but if they get wins in their next three they get 13 of 16 points, where everyone was expecting them to be on this home stand.
  20. That is like comparing apples to tire irons
  21. Agreed, I also think we could be seeing these two teams meet for the Stanley Cup in June. What a great Final that would be.
  22. Was it by chance the 17 inning game in 2004? That was one of the games I went to.
  23. Man I remember waiting for him to come back from his concussion for a long time and I don't think he ever completely made it back. I'm scared that concussion had something to do with his death Sounds like he was battling depression.
  24. Point wise yes, but Toews does so much more than Kane that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. The only good thing about not getting 2 points last night, in a game they didn't even deserve 1 point, is it keeps LA farther away from the last WC spot.
  25. Yeah you don't want Teuvo on the fourth line. I would keep Teuvo on the third line and let Shaw sit though. Speaking of Shaw I would have to guess he will be gone after this season with him due a hefty raise after next season. Might be some value in trading him during the summer.
