  1. Pretty good game tonight. Rosival a star of the game. I don't think that's happened since the Bush administration. The first Bush.
  2. Right, I get that but I just don't see that as being a good deal. It seems to me that they were always going to be able to give Smith away for nothing if they wanted, and that is what they did here. I just saw that it now frees up space to keep Teuvo on the roster since the Sharks are taking on 50% of the salary
  3. This summer won't be as bad as 2010, but they will lose someone like Sharp and or Bickell, depending on how much the cap goes up.
  4. Yep. Looks like a good deal to me. Really? What about it looks good? They traded a decent young guy essentially for the right to not have to employ him next year. I guess if you think Smith is absolutely worthless then this could be perceived as good. He is replaceable, as was said before they need to resign Saad. Smith was only useful on the PK, and they have Vermette now. They were not going to pay Ben Smith 1.5 million next year.
  5. that's interesting draft pick? Mark Spector ‏@SportsnetSpec now In return for Ben Smith to San Jose, Chicago gets the Sharks' Andrew Desjardins #NHLTrade A 4th line center? For $750,000 in salary cap relief? Also expiring contract. Yep. Looks like a good deal to me.
  6. Teuvo should play on the third line, move Shaw to take Smith's spot. But what do I know.

  8. Yeah but if playoff Bickell shows up maybe a 2nd. And if its to a bad team it will be a high 2nd pick which is really the same as where the Hawks would pick in the late 1st round this year. Edited: Troy freakin Brouwer fetched a 1st round pick in 2011. Bickell if he plays like playoff Bickell could as well.
  9. They will likely recoup the picks this summer when they trade off Sharp or Bickell.
  10. If they make the WCF with Kane back, they are unstoppable. Q now can let Toews take on the easier assignments with Vermette in the lineup. This sums it up nicely http://thecommittedindian.com/fertig-verfallen-verlumpt-verblunget-vermette/#more-12422
  11. I was behind the goal that Kane tied it in the 300 level, place was nuts! I remember thinking the Hawks still have over 4 minutes to kill but it seemed there was no way the Hawks were going to lose in OT. Then Hossa comes out of the box and scores the winner. On the way out of the Stadium I think I hurt my hand high fiving about 100 random people.
  12. Sopel kept this play alive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNC8-PTTee0 The craziest game I have ever been to. They lose that game and 2010 could have turned out very different.
  13. Well he crushed by soul as a teenager in 1992 when they swept the Hawks during the SCF Likewise BTW, if they acquire Skinner and one of Petry or Yandle....well just watch the [expletive] out. Yup Something should be going down trade wise within the next 24 hours. Still think its Vermette. But any of those guys would be even better.

  15. Looks like they are clearing space in Rockford for a bigger move? In other news: The Panthers acquired Jagr from the Devils today. I think Jagr started playing in the NHL before the Panthers existed.
  16. I would think Bickell. Before the Kane injury I would have thought maybe Sharp too.
  17. It will be tough, but the Blues become mental midgets every time the chips are on the line. Bowman needs to get off his ass and get a d man quick, cut down on the shots against. LA got stronger with their trade, and once again Stan is twiddling his thumbs, like last year and cost the Hawks a cup. I really hope they aren't gonna punt this season now that Kane is injured. They won't punt, especially if they can use the newly opened cap space to add someone. And yes everything has run through Kane and he's been on another level this year but at least they have 20 some games to figure it out. They still have a lot of scoring punch and if Teuvo can get some real playing time, Bickell can round into his usual playoff form, Shaw can stop acting like a skill player and crash the net, and some of Toews, Saad, Hossa and Sharp (if he is still here) step up, we can still be a formidable offensive team. The question is the defense IMO. I hope TVR can come back and show the potential he showed earlier in the year, and maybe we can pick up a 2nd or 3rd liner for depth. Anyways, this is definitely a blow that hurts our cup chances, but I don't think it eliminates them...I think we have too much talent and have the time to readjust ourselves to play w/o Kane. Since its not like we're in danger of missing the playoffs at this point, there is time to take some lumps and figure it out. Very good points, I just hope Q is smart enough to put Teuvo on the second line and Versteeg down to the third line now that Kane is out.
  18. I don't think it is. If it were Toews who was out 12 weeks then yes. I love Toews, and I'm not typically Debbie Downer, but Kane was the leading scorer in the league, on a team that's had scoring issues. Toews plays center, one of the best two way players in the game on a team that lacks depth down the middle.

  21. Not sure if this is the same injury as Brian Campbell in 2010 but he was hurt in Mid March and returned by game 4 of the first round vs Nashville six weeks later. Just trying to find some optimism on what was a terrible sports day for the Hawks/Bulls.
  22. How does 6-10 weeks = best case is 3rd round? If its 6 weeks he's back with 3 games left in the regular season, if its 10 weeks you are talking about mid second round. Also yes, that LTIR thing is a great silver lining. Praise be to Kane for getting hurt before the deadline unlike his UC counterpart. 10 weeks is late 2nd round early 3rd round. Broken collarbone in a contact sport like hockey probably would take longer to return from. As for Kane getting hurt, there is no positive in that, that was not what I was saying. 10 weeks from today is May 6th. Last year on May 6th the Hawks played Game 3 in the 2nd round, and the regular season ended a day later than it will this year. It might take longer than 10 weeks, but you said best case was 3rd round when the timetable thats being reported suggests that 3rd round would be absolute worst case. Also I didn't say it was a positive, just a silver lining which means finding hope in a bad situation. Oops you are correct, for some reason I thought the playoffs were starting earlier this year with no Winter Olympics like last year. The season started later this year than last, I believe.
  23. He would be a good addition. I would hope they call up Teuvo and play him on 2nd line RW.
