    I hate Ryne Sandberg. The minor leagues are supposed to be about the young kids. Helping the kids become major leaguers. He's only out for himself, just like he always was. All he ever cared about was winning - winning - winning. A real LOSER off-the-field too. No wonder he's headed for a second DIVORCE. LOUSY family man. The Hall of Fame does not make you a good person. He let it go to his head. I hope to GOD he never ever manages the CUBS. I'll become a Whie Sox fan. IT'S NICE TO BE IMPORTANT BUT IT'S MORE IMPORTANT TO BE NICE!!!! Is this personal knowledge of him? did he spit on you or your son? As Cubs fans we would gives a rats rear end about nice, as long as they win a WS. The nice guys though are remember fondly. Apparently you don't remember this post.

    You may be thinking of 1973, when Aaron, Davey Johnson, and Darrell Evans all had 40 or more HRs (in fact, Aaron's 40 was only 3rd on the team. It was definitely a career year for Johnson (his next highest season total was 18), but Evans had many other high totals (including another 40-HR year) and had 414 for his career, so nothing that year was out of the ordinary for him.

    I think some of it goes back to his interim stint in 2007 during Lou's suspension (I think it was around 7 games). The Cubs were struggling under Lou and under .500 at the time. They went on a tear during Trammel's stint and kept it going the rest of the year. It may have been a coincidence, but if I recall the thinking at the time is that they seemed to be uptight under Lou but able to relax when Trammel took over for the stretch.

    It's head-to-head, then division record, then total points, then points against. Officially the rules have win-loss percentage listed as the first tie-breaker, but if there's a tie the teams have the same winning percentage, so I don't know why that's even listed as a tie-breaker.
