Yep; that makes me a happy camper. :D At least when you go down this week you can take some comfort knowing that it's due to an ageless wonder helping the Cubs win. it's talk like this that inspires my team to jack three homers and a couple of doubles w/in a half an hour span to make your 20+ point lead a distant memory. lesson learned. There may be something to this. Today I keep my mouth shut, and I take back the lead.
  2. He must be on the juice. :D

If you're referring to the posts in the game thread, yes, that really was Len. He registered here late last season and posted once or twice then, as well as a couple of Q & A sessions. He is also registered on the cubs.com forum and has occasionally posted there, but there is also an imposter using a nearly identical screen name that most people wouldn't spot the difference if they don't look at the name very closely.
  5. True, but considering that for the past three years his pattern has been to struggle in the first half of the season and then pitch well after the All-Star break, three great starts to begin the season is enough to say that this season is different from the last few. It doesn't necessarily mean that he's all the way back to his peak Cy Young level, but I think it does mean he will at least have a better season that the past few. One early great start could have been a fluke; I don't think three in a row is.
  6. Happy Birthday, Greg! How about starting the West Coast swing and your forties with a CG tonight? [-X Greedy, greedy. It isn't reasonable to expect any more than 8 innings of 1-run baseball. :D
  7. I thought it was Wood's labrum all along. I don't recall anything being done on his rotator cuff.
  8. I think Jon Garland for Matt Karchner deserves mention.
  9. On an otherwise good night for the Cubs DLee wears the collar and ends my streak at 3.
  10. How much is my silence worth?
  11. That's starting to get up into Hagerty terrotory.

  13. I remember Brockington starting out his career looking like he was going to be a great one (over 1,000 yards in his first two seasons), but then faded quickly.
  14. My Joke-O-Meter was taking the day off for Easter. :D

Um, you're missing one team from the East (hint: It's the team currently in third place based on total points tiebreaker)
  16. For DirecTV Extra Innings subscribers, the game is on Channel 741.

My season-beginning winning streak ends at 1. :(
  18. Asking people to sit or stand in the areas they bought tickets for doesn't make them Nazis. Seems to me like you're criticizing the ushers for doing their jobs.
  19. This is already being discussed in Transactions: Premium Non-PremiumDusty has said that, if Pie is called up, it would be to play, not sit. This wouldn't be a repeat of Baylor and Patterson in 2001.
  20. Just a week or two wouldn't be enough for this year to count toward arbitration. The only way it counts is if he spends enough time in the majors to be among the top 17% of first-year players in terms of service time.
  21. I don't know for sure, but I would think that would be the case. If placing a player on the 60-day DL taks the player off the 40-man roster, it seems to me that would be the case regardless of whether the player is on the 25-man roster.
  22. No; he's too talented to be used as a reliever at this point. Closer is set with Dempster, and setup is solid with Howry, Eyre, and Williamson. Using Wood in middle relief would be a waste. It's too early to write him off as a starter until he shows how well he's able to come back from his surgery.
  23. My post got sandwiched into yours.. I fixed it.
  24. Likely, I'd agree with. A given, definitely not.
  25. I agree with the sentiment but doesn't space on the 40 man have to be cleared for him to be brought up? Yes, unless Pagan is hurt bad enough to go on the 60-day DL.
