  1. What, an entire hour without a single Super Bowl post?
  2. An Indianapolis radio station has a parody of the 1970s classic song The Night Chicago Died. Even though I am a Bears fan first I still enjoyed it.
  3. Agreed; beating Iowa on the road coming off the Wisconsin win would be huge. If that happens I'd expect them to make a huge jump in the rankings next week, likely into the top 15. They already have a big non-conference road win (UConn).
  4. Watch it; personal attacks aren't permitted on this site.
  5. Hill won't be in Iowa. Not the way he pitched after coming up the final time next year.
  6. The eye is uncontrollably drawn to the left. It is an awwwwwwwwfully nice avatar. In this situation the increased w's are appropriate. More w's than the Cardinals will see this year.
  7. What if the game ended in a tie? Then both teams forfeit their first-round picks and everybody else moves up two spots. :D
  8. That was his pattern during his entire time with the Cubs. Kyle Farnsworth had the same pattern with the Cubs.
  9. Unquestionably not true. He had three good years with the Cubs (alternating with three putrid years) and was a solid contributor to the 1998 Wild Card team (notwithstanding his giving up McGwire's 62nd HR).
  10. An Illinois vs. Indiana matchup, three days before a bigger Illinois vs. Indiana matchup in another sport. :D
  11. I got my game program today. The game can start at any time now. :D
  12. Northside Baseball and I have reworked an earlier trade due to a mistake on my part. I had agreed to trade him my 4th and 8th round picks in exchange for Liriano and Estrada, but I had forgotten that I had already traded my 7th round pick to Galesburg Hand Sanitizers. Therefore we agreed that I would trade my 3rd round pick instead. Tim will be receiving one draft pick from me rather than the previously agreed two, but due to the snaking effect that one pick will be moving up almost two rounds (late 4th to early 3rd), in effect exchanging quantity for quality.
  13. who? i promise i won't take him. Neifi, of course! btw - when are you going to start dropping all the players you can't keep? before 2/14. :D my drops are going to improve the draft pool significantly. i'll be dropping at least one top 5 guy. of course, i may get him back with the #3 pick... How did you get the #3 pick? From me for Tejada (who I then packaged with Hamels for Webb, Tracy, and Wells).
  14. Hand sanitizer can be intoxicating if you drink it.
  15. He was. He was acquired from the Rams in a mega-three team trade also involving the Bills. The Colts traded Corneius Bennett, another player or two, and a gazillion draft picks.
  16. This book will never be published.....but this one will.
  17. \:D/ IU basketball is fun again. Too bad the Wisconsin game wasn't televised where I live.
  18. Their first year in Chicago they were called the Staleys (their original name from their previous season when they played in Decatur). The previous owner sold the team to Halas to move to Chicago, with the stipulation they keep the name Staleys for one year. Halas then considered the name Cubs, but didn't think that sounded tough enough for a football team, so he chose the name Bears. That was designed to honor the Cubs, as you mentioned, and at the same time sound tough enough to be appropriate for football.
  19. I'm quite ready to expect a bad season from the Cards, and I'm a Cubs fan. :D
  20. If you press the Guide button twice, the second time causes the guide to appear on the screen.
  21. No surprise that they agreed to terms before a hearing. The Cubs have never had a case go to an actual hearing during the MacPhail/Hendry era, and I can't think of any reason why this year would be any different.
  22. Interesting link to Super Bowl XX: Moorehead's father, Emery Moorehead, was the Bears' starting tight end on that team.
  23. I had their TIVO DVR, which was easy to operate. Unfortunately it recently went bad. I have their DVR protection plan so they replaced it at no cost, but the replacement is their own DVR (they no longer offer the TIVO DVR), and I don't like the new one at all. Frequent recording errors (such as starting early and ending late), harder to operate the programming guide (you can't go directly to a specific day), much harder to set up a season pass (oops, I mean series link), and other complaints.
