  1. Arbitration avoided at $12.4 million.
  2. i may be willing to trade down. Where you at? He's at #3, courtesy of me.
  3. No, but I remember when he had his two healthy years (not missing a single start in either 2002 or 2003).
  4. Maybe. Or maybe not. :-k what are the chances of vlad getting to me at #3....? Alot better then my chances of getting him at number 14, or whatever I am! Slim to none :-) You actually give slim a chance? :D
  5. Not a day off, just no Cubs pics. Ozzie looks to be checking out some ass: http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20070218/capt.azmg10302181934.white_sox_spring_baseball_azmg103.jpg The White Sox go to Arizona for spring training right? Or is it Florida? I can never remember. But either way, is the heavy jacket really necessary there Ozzie? Arizona, they're out in Tucson. They used to train in Florida, but switched to Arizona a few years ago (I don't recall exactly when).
  6. Guzman's probably the odd man out because he still has options. And I agree it would be better for him to start at Iowa than sit in the Cubs' bullpen.
  7. I agree about possible pitching trades. Hendry was stockpiling arms in the offseason so that, unlike last year, they'd have enough depth to withstand injuries. If there are fewer injuries this year there would be no need for all those pitchers. As far as Cedeno is concerned, I think he'd be better served playing every day in Iowa rather than being stuck at the end of the bench in the majors. I'm not as down on him as some people seem to be; I think that, with better coaching this year, he can unbreak some bad habits and be at least a fair major league hitter. He showed that potential in his time with the Cubs in 2005. I think playing every day and working with Von Joshua could really help him.
  8. Great....now I have "Year Of The Cat" stuck in my head. Gee, thanks a LOT. :D And according to the Chinese calendar, the Year of the Pig begins today. :D
  9. They are if he isn't one of the five best. With the pressure on Hendry to win this year to save his job, he simply can't afford to have a nonperforming pitcher in the rotation solely because of salary.
  10. That's why his ERA will be "only" 2.32 as compared to Prior's 1.11. He'll blow a bunch of saves with all of the wild pitches he throws where the batter strikes out but reaches first. That's how he'll have so many strikeouts, because he'll keep throwing them away and the batters will keep reaching first. :D
  11. I don't think I ever saw it at a minor league park. And I doubt many other people posting here knew about it, or it would have been mentioned sooner. And if a place like this board, that has a lot of hard-core minor league fans posting, didn't know about it, I doubt it was known about at all by average fans. Too bad, because the one issue I did get was interesting and a subscription price of $12 per year for a monthly magazine is hard to beat these days.
  12. My experience has been that it just isn't possible to find a time that suits everybody, so you just have to find a time that works out for the most people. Different time zones and different work/school schedules makes it virtually impossible to find a single time that suits everybody.
  13. That info (referred to as your fantasy profile) has just been available for about the past year or so.
  14. Somebody (I believe it was Karen Mac) posted something about the magazine last year; that was the first I'd ever heard of it. I went to their website and signed up for the three-month free trial they were advertising at the time. I got one issue and liked it, so I subscribed through Amazon (at the $12 per year rate). I never received another issue, and I e-mailed the magazine directly a few times without response. I then contacted Amazon, and after an investigation into the situation on their part I received a full refund since the magazine had ceased publication. At one time last summer the magaznie's home page indicated that they were currently in the process of being acquired by another company and they expected to be back in August, but apparently nothing ever came of that. The home page since then reverted back to last April's issue, and the link to the subscription page is now a dead link.
  15. Hey, somebody's gotta be the new whipping boy. I think Marquis is going to win that role in a landslide. Especially if he wins a spot in the rotation over Hill.
  16. Hendry needs to be shot on the spot if Marquis starts over Hill despite Hill having a better spring. Hill should have a spot in the rotation that's his to lose. He was clearly the best pitcher down the stretch last year. Hendry's job is supposedly on the line this year, so he clearly needs to use the best pitchers, not the most highly paid.
  17. This is true. I go for the beer. "I'm just here for the Bud Light."
  18. That cow is still around. Several years ago, when the Bulls moved to their current stadium (a year or so before they moved up to AAA), the cow went with them to the new stadium.
  19. Even waiting a week I don't think he'd get paid by retiring. I think he'd need to be carried on the DL to get paid (like the Orioles did with Albert Belle several years ago when he couldn't play anymore).
  20. I sure hope Enrique Wilson is still available by the end of the 2nd round. Otherwise I'll have to settle for Damian Jackson or Tony Womack. :D
  21. You probably need to be logged in to Yahoo to see it.
  22. Oh yes; kept referring to him as a dweeb.
  23. That comment reminds me of the cubs.com days (before it went downhill) when Ernie59 and ZipDog kept going back and forth about age. I miss those guys. I wonder if ernie went to the convention and saw his buddy Grace there? I'd forgotten about his rants about Grace. I believe it was because Grace was rude to Ernie's grandson when he asked for an autograph. Then there was also the way he always referred to Augie Ojeda as the toy ballplayer.
  24. I'm waiting for the "I'm sorry, I'm the real killer of Nicole and Ron" ball. :D
