  1. They need to beat NIU and have Bowling Green either lose another game (@Buffalo or vs Toledo) or win the East (which would ensure BSU's 7-5 as the 3rd best record in the league). Basically for Ball State not to get in, BG and Miami would have to win out, putting Miami at 7-6 after CMU destroys them in the MAC title game, and BG at 8-4, which would leave BSU on the outside looking in. It's possible but I'd be surprised. ESPN.com is currently projecting four MAC teams in bowl games (Miami, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, and Ball State). They're projecting a fourth team because they don't think there will be enough bowl eligible teams from the PAC 10 to fill all their tie-ins, so another MAC team might fill the unfilled PAC 10 spot. That has happened before; in 2004 there were five MAC teams playing in bowl games.
  2. It serves them right for giving preferential treatment to Notre Dame.
  3. Bite your tounge. :P I do agree that they should start a game on an alternate channel when a previous game runs late. That should be standard anytime they have back-to-back games. The possibility of a game running late is totally foreseeable; they should plan accordingly.
  4. Big win for Ball State over Toledo. It was tied 20-20 at halftime but BSU won 41-20 after totally dominating the second half. Davis looks to me like a future Heisman Trophy candidate. The Cardinals are now bowl eligible, although I still think they need to beat Northern Illinois and finish 7-5 to actually get a bid.
  5. You should have given Dukie V some pom-poms or a cheerleader's megaphone.
  6. Dempster. Or, rather, that's who Hendry and Lou would replace him with. I'd replace him with Gallagher.
  7. Somebody please hire a hit man and take Hendry out before he does any more damage. It would be justifiable homicide. :D
  8. Yes. He's Emery Moorehead's son. There was a fair amount of mention of that around the Super Bowl time.
  9. If anybody wants a good laugh check out my entry. I don't have the time to do a good thought-out job on this, so I decided to have fun with it and see how a random system does compared to actually thinking about it. Anybody who finishes below me in this contest should feel completely humiliated. :D
  10. The frustrating thing for Colts fans has to be that if they just go ahead and kick the field goal on fourth down without trying to run a play, a kick equally as bad is good. I have no idea why they tried to go for it down 2 with under 2 minutes to go and the Charger offense being completely inept tonight. Especially since SD had no timeouts. I'm not convinced they would have actually snapped the ball. I think they were just trying to draw San Diego offsides for the first down, and if that didn't happen I think they would have called a time-out and gone for the FG. There's absolutely no way they actually go for it on 4th down when a chip shot FG would have won it. You may be right, but I would have just gone ahead and kicked it. Make it as easy as possible and don't try to get cute. The SD offense hadn't done anything, especially through the air. I would have just kicked it too, but maybe they wanted to try to steal a first down because they were nervous about missing the kick because of the wet field conditions. Or perhaps the thinking was that they wanted to milk more time so San Diego wouldn't have any time left for another return touchdown.
  11. Really? I hadn't heard that.
  12. I haven't heard anything about it lately, but at one time I heard talk of Bill Cowher getting the job for next year (he lives in North Carolina now, but can't coach for anybody this year since he still had one year remaining on his Steelers' contract when he resigned). I doubt this would ever happen, but what I'd like to see happen would be for Cowher to take over as head coach with Fox staying on as defensive coordinator.

  14. Because I am a blockhead. In the NSBB fantasy football league I have four running backs (Steven Jackson, Earnest Graham, Jamal Lewis, and Dominic Rhodes) for two starting positions. In recent weeks I've been starting Graham and Lewis, since Jackson missed several weeks due to injury and Rhodes has been invisible since returning from his suspension. This week I return Jackson to the lineup since he's playing again and Graham is out due to Tampa Bay's bye week. Or so I thought. Stupidly, I forgot to actually click the Submit button, so the lineup change never went through. By the time I check on today's performances the early games have already started, and Rhodes was the only RB I could use as a bye week replacement due to the others' games already having started. So I have Jackson's two touchdowns on my bench and Rhodes' two rushing yards in my lineup. Fortunately, even blockheads can get lucky. Despite effectively forfeiting one of the RB positions I still lead by 10 points, plus I have one player (Reggie Wayne) remaining and my opponent is done. Whew!
  15. It will probably be the espn.com Bottom 10 pillow fight of the week (their designation for a game between two crappy teams).
  16. Unfortunately that's quite possible. One bad thing about OSU losing is that it cost the Big 11 a bowl bid. They had seven bowl tie-ins plus a likely OSU title game bid, but with the loss OSU will get one of the seven bids that otherwise would have gone to another team.
  17. I think he's asking who will win the Duke-Notre Dame football game this coming week.
  18. As far as I'm concerned, if he signs with the Cubs he can asked to be called anything in the world he wants to be called.
  19. Ha-ha; thanks for the laugh. (Insert missing ROFL smiley here.) No Problem! But I didn't say the ONLY problem. No you didn't, but you did say it's the BIGGEST problem, when in fact it isn't even remotely close to being a problem at all.
  20. If they win out I think they're in regardless of what LSU and Oregon does. They'd be the only major conference undefeated team and, as you pointed out, will have beaten both Missouri and Oklahome late in the season. I think that would unquestionably jump them ahead of at least one of the one-loss teams.
  21. I'm an Indiana fan, but still loved seeing Illinois knock off O$U. Take that, BCS!
  22. I watched the game, and the loss is inexcusable and unforgiveable. They had the game under control, but let Northwestern back in the game due to a total boneheaded coaching call that anybod that follows college football would know better than to make. When you have a redshirt freshman coming into the game at quarterback cold on 3rd-and 6 you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ask him to pass. You run the ball and if necessary punt and play defense. The result was so predictable; interception, touchdown Northwestern, and they're back in the game. That one call could well wind up costing the Hoosiers the entire season. If that happens they should not under any circumstances consider Lynch for the permanent head coaching job. This is the same coach who led Ball State to consecutive seasons of 1-10 and 0-11, after all.
  23. Ha-ha; thanks for the laugh. (Insert missing ROFL smiley here.)
  24. I second that motion. Specifically, move the Marlins to North Carolina so the Cubs will come here every year.
