  1. No kidding. If Cal runs the table the rest of the way that play could cost them an NC shot. Unreal. What exactly happened, for those of us not watching?
  2. Ouch; MSU 52, IU 27 (final). Another week before the Hoosiers become bowl eligible. Oh well, 2 of my 3 teams (Ball State and Kentucky) won. Not too bad of a week, especially with one of my teams (albeit my 3rd favorite) knocking off #1.
  3. Thanks for the link. I had a great deal of fun working on the book with Pat. If you buy it, I hope you enjoy. I do plan to buy it, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
  4. I was at the game (in the end zone below the scoreboard). I thought the looked quite good except for the sloppy turnoverfest in the 2nd quarter. I didn't realize Davis is only a sophomore; it will be interesting to see how good he eventually becomes. I didn't realize Mark O'Connell is now Morry Mannies' broadcast partner. He shared the starting quarterback job (with Dave Wilson) in 1978, when I was a freshman. They were 10-1 that year and undefeated in the conference. The MAC didn't have a bowl tie-in then and their one loss, to Louisiana Tech, probably cost them a bid. They did get some votes for the rankings (which back then was only the top 20).
  5. Sounds like a campaign ticket. :D
  6. I also discovered that there is a book about Harry just released. The book is by Pat Hughes and Bruce Miles and includes a CD with some of Harry's calls. This apparently is the book Pat was talking about on one of the Cubs' telecasts this year when talking about his Baseball Voices CD series.
  7. Isn't that how Lou got to Tampa? Yes. I believe it was Randy Winn who was traded for Lou's rights.
  8. I'd add Memorial Day to that list.
  9. Hah, I shouldn't be surprised. That's his most common injury. That doesn't sound season-ending to me, though (although I'll admit I don't know how long the season is).
  10. One year better than his past performance could have been a fluke, but not two in a row. It clearly shows he's stepped up. Derosa >>>>>>>>>> Theriot, no question about it.
  11. Guzman just had TJS and is on the DL, so they couldn't trade him.
  12. Any word yet at all on the nature of Harvey's injury?
  13. I don't recall it being mentioned here, but a documentary DVD about Harry (narrated by Pat Hughes) was released this year. I believe it was originally produced for PBS, but the DVD has expanded interviews with several people as bonus material. The best price I found was $13.75 (free shipping) from deepdiscount.com. There's a web site about the DVD.
  14. He's welcome to change all the traditions he wants to, as long as one of them is the tradition of losing. :D
  15. I believe Shawon Dunston was the last one. I refuse to even acknowledge the possibility that Trachsel will be back. Even Hendry can't be that dumb, even if he's under the influence of something.
  16. Hey now! :club: Just kidding. I really sucked it up this year. Maybe you're getting it all out of your system and you'll win both contests next year. :D
  17. Sandberg23 is consistent in her placement in both contests.
  18. I've never been to a major league postseason game before, so if I had a chance, hell yes I'd go. I'd root for the Rockies (it wouldn't be the first time I'd be rooting for the visiting team). If I'm in a town and there's a game on I'll usually go even if I'm not interested in either of the teams playing.
  19. Rockies in 5. They're on a roll.
  20. Are you sure you don't have the two North Carolina scores reversed?
  21. Graham. Since Pittman is now also injured Graham is it for Tampa Bay. Rhodes is back from his suspension for Oakland, so I don't know if that will cut into Fargas' playing time.
  22. Or as Forrest Gump said, "It happens."
  23. Why? did Soriano and Ramirez tell him when they signed their massive contracts that they only planned on trying through September, and then theyd half ass their way through the next 3 games? He put together a playoff team. Nothing he did caused this collapse. He's a failure. Even with the playoff appearance the Cubs haven't even gotten back to the level they were in 2003, let alone making progress beyond that. All this year accomplished was making up SOME of the ground they lost since 2003. Four years with no progress is inexcusable.Do you realize that the Cubs offense and pitching were both better this year than in 2003? I wasn't clear about what I meant by level. I was referring to results, not statistical performance. To me getting back to the same level would have meant winning the division series and playing in the NLCS, and the only way to have made progress since 2003 would have been to play in the World Series.
  24. Worth very little until all the games are "connected", meaning that every team can be linked to every other team through games. Until then the predictive values are partially based on last year's information. Of course, considering that, I'm surprised Illinois is as high as it is. That rating looks like a basketball poll with Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Cincinnati, etc. Except Illinois wont sniff the basketball poll this year or anytime soon if Weber doesnt change something. You mean like his place of employment? :D
