I noticed that your Hoffpauir just got added to the 40-man roster within the past couple of days. I bet your Hoffpauir doesn't have a wife that posts on NSBB, though. :P
I think it is for Pawalek as well. I agree on Harvey but disagree on Pawalek. He's still young enouigh to straighten himself out. Pitchers also get a longer leash than hitters. Doesn't Pawalek have at least one more year before he's rule 5 eligible? For some reason I was thinking Pawelek was drafted a year earlier than he actually was and that he'd need to be protected from Rule 5. If I recall the details of the new CBA correctly (I'm thinking the period before a player has to be protected was extended by one year) I believe it would actually be after the 2009 season when he'd need to be protected, which would give him two more years to show enough progress.
I agree. Just like the wild card spots in the NFL are for the best non-division winners, not the best second place teams. If third place in one division has a better record than second place in another the wild card goew to the third place team. Likewise, the at-large BCS spots should go to the highest ranked teams without automatic bids regardless of how many teams per conference that means.
Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. I found a link that did not have the code, and it did not open in a new window. I edited it to add the code, and now it does open in a new window.
I think they're still popping in the same window everywhere. :( Not everywhere. I've had them popping up in new windows in some of the forums (I think mainly the baseball-related forums).
I think that's likely, since that's the Big Ten #6. IU passed both Iowa and Purdue in the Big Ten bowl hierarchy today (Iowa is most likely completely out because of having only a 6-6 record; IU should be ahead of Purdue by virtue of winning head-to-head and having the same overall record). It's still a shame they choked last week's game away, and I blame Lynch's calling for a pass on the backup QB's first play. Had they won that game they'd be 8-4 with a better bowl game and a chance at a top 25 final ranking with a bowl win.
Tspain, you mean. Oops, yes it was. I misread who started this thread (probably because this is about the only recent thread in this forum started by someody else).
Raisin, your list actually skips from 15 to 17. I'm not sure if you got off track on your numbering or if you had someone on your list you forgot to type in.
Blanco's already under contract for 2008. Giving him a 2-year contract was one of Hendry's genius moves a year ago. He could be the first baseman for this team, since Soto is catcher.
I don't know why a July return isn't possible for Guzman. That will have been 10 months, and I believe both Dempster and Williamson returned from TJS in less than a year. Recovery time isn't always as long as it used to be.
