I remember his father, Joe Coleman Jr. (although he was simply known as Joe Coleman, without the Jr.). He began his major league career with the Senators (now Rangers) in the mid-60s, but his biggest success was with the Tigers in the early 70s. From 1971 through 1973 he won 20, 19, and 23 games. He pitched briefly for the Cubs late in his career (part of the 1976 season), going 2-8, 4.10 in 39 appearances (4 starts). Back then a 4.10 ERA was considered pretty bad (league average that year was 3.82); his ERA+ with the Cubs was 93.
