I think there's almost no chance he leaves Carolina. That's his home, and I think he'll re-sign with the Panthers. If they have to in order to keep him I think Carolina would franchise him.

The second round of Survival Football ends in a 4-way tie between Bleacher Bum, MPC, TBear, and skateman. All four had correct picks today. When the regular season ends with more than one player remaining alive all are considered co-champions; there is no tiebreaker in Survival Football.

Dagnabbit; I originally picked West Virginia but changed my pick to North Carolina at the last minute. :x As a teacher I should know better than to change from a right to a wrong answer.

I only had 4 points on CMU. The most points I've had on any of my incorrect picks so far is 17 (on Fresno State).

And the league championship has been decided. I Want Eazy E defeated Geovany Soto 130.58-119.10 (neither team has any active players in the Monday night game). I think this is the first time I've been in a fantasy league where a team with a losing record in the regular season won the championship.

It was actually 10 years earlier (1991). Despite the signings the Cubs had a losing season. They thought Jackson was the second coming because he won 23 games three years earlier.

Not too bad; 8th place with 31 points. I missed Fresno State-Colorado State (17 points) and Arizona-BYU (8 points).

Could be worse. You could have finished 3rd in regular season and be playing in the 7th place game. This is true. 3rd place >>>>7th place (3rd place also >>>> missing the playoffs altogether, as I did in my other league despite starting 5-0).

To be more specific, he started his career with the Cubs. He was with the Cubs for all of 1967 and 1968, then was traded to the Padres very early in the 1969 season (late April) for Dick Selma.

I haven't seen a thread on this yet, but former All-Star closer Dave Smith, who finished his career with the Cubs, died Wednesday of an apparent heart attack. Smith was 53. His best years were with the Astros; he was considered a bus with the Cubs after signing a big free agent contract.

Over 74 points combined from Manning and Rhodes. If only they did that last week against the crappy Lions I'd be playing for a second straight championship instead of 3rd place.

I have both Rhodes and Manning on my team, so that touchdown was double sweet. \:D/ Unfortunately, since they underachieved against the Lions last week I'm playing for 3rd place rather than 1st. :(

So much for my hopes of repeating as champion. I got good production from Manning and Rhodes but needed more from Johnson and Harrison.
