  1. The specifics are 50 or more plate appearances, 5 or more pitching starts, or 10 or more total pitching appearances.
  2. To see the points for your players go to the league page, then click on Stats. Scroll down until you see Custom Report. Then, in the drop-down menus select your team name, 2008 totals for the timeframe, MLB for Data Source (at the moment I think that's the only choice available anyway), and Standard for Stat Categories. Then click the Generate Custom Report button and you will get a report showing the 2008 points for the players on your roster, which is what the keeper limit is based on. Your 10 keepers must have a maximum of 2000 points (not including points for any players with at least one exemption remaining). And yes, the exemptions are based on major league time only; time in the minor leagues doesn't count against exemptions. As far as a couple of your earlier questions are concerned, the deadline for choosing your 10 keepers and dropping the rest of your major league players is Feb. 14. I don't believe the draft date has been set yet.
  3. Innocent until proven guilty. Just ask Rogers Clemens and Rod Blagojevich. Except no one has ever made a legitimate case against Sosa except "He had muscles and hit a lot of homers and spoke Spanish in front of Congressmen!" And he's a caught cheater in an era where it was the most common form of cheating. And Joe Morgan cheated in the same way that Sammy did. You guys aren't this naive are you? Wait, don't answer that. I don't actually want to discuss this anymore. There is zero discourse left to be had on the Sosa/McGwire steroid speculation. I interpreted the comments as relating to the corking incident, not steroids, since that's the only way he was caught cheating.
  4. Those are the forever stamps that are worth the current rate even if they were purchased at the previous rate. I'm still using forever stamps that I bought for 41 cents before the most recent increase. That would explain it I guess since I almost never use stamps. I don't use stamps that often myself (which is why I still have a bunch remaining from before the rate increase). I pay most of my bills electronically.
  5. Upcoming program alert: Next Wednesday at 11:30 P.M. Eastern time (10:30 Central, etc.) the World Series highlights show (half hour) is the 1945 Series (Cubs vs. Tigers, the last time the Cubs were in the Series).

  7. No. Joe Morgan thinks that the only second baseman worthy of the Hall is Joe Morgan.
  8. In June. On the 23rd. In the 5th inning.
  9. Hmmph, that's being a bit abtuse. :P i suk at speling Ficksed. :D
  10. Probably not more times, but Tinker to Evers to Chance, Three-Finger Brown, etc. were on postseason rosters as many times as Wood (1906--1908 and 1910). Gabby had to be on the four teams in the 30s and late 20s. You're right (29, 32, 35, and 38, the entire length of the every-third-year pattern). He missed most of the 29 season due to injury (only 25 games and 22 at-bats in the regular season), but he did play in all three Series games (albeit with only three at-bats, so it was probably as a pinch-hitter).
  11. We may get used to seeing him in plain clothes during his DL stints.

  13. Who will win the big game?
  14.    On second thought, the birds will lose.
  15. Chris hasn't been on NSBB since August, and he didn't respond a couple of months ago when you asked everybody to post confirming that they plan to continue next year. That suggests to me that we need to assume he's gone and find a replacement.
  16. I recorded the game and watched it today. Ah, the good ole days of Gary Scott and Erik Pappas.
  17. In other words, he was what we THOUGHT he was! AND WE LET HIM GET AWAY! [/Dennis Green]
  18. Not the gotcha I was expecting.
  19. My neighbor's boss's minister's wife's (not so) illicit lover's other girlfriend's ex-husband's shrink's investment banker's parole officer claims he spots Peavy mowing his lawn about every 10 days.
  20. Just about to post this. He hit 15-of-22 shots including 10-of-15 3-pointers. Also hit all 14 free throws. Most points in a single game in Kentucky history. And looking at his stats, he's also had a 46 point game (hit 9 threes), and games of 39, 37 and 32 (hit 8 threes). The old record was 53 points, set by Dan Issel way back in the 1969-70 season. Issel also had a 51-point game the same season. The ESPN game announcers are talking Meeks up as a possible national player of the year contender. And not mentioned in the previous posts was that the game was at Tennessee (who had a long home winning streak going), and Kentucky won 90-72.
  21. He actually spells his first name Jon (just like our moderator). He is the brother of Brady Hoke, the former Ball State head coach who recently left for San Diego State. Both Hokes were starters on defense for BSU when I was there as a student, so I'm happy to see him with the Bears.
  22. :( (Unless he's drafted by the Bears, that is. Then \:D/ ).
