  1. That's true on the cubs.com board too (at least it was back when I posted there).
  2. Manny Alexander says hi.
  3. If Sheets is signed by somebody before the season begins and placed on a major league DL then he's eligible for the DL in Roadkill. If he rehabilitates while being unsigned then he isn't eligible for a DL in Roadkill. The rule has always been (at least since I've been in the league) that a player must be on an MLB DL in order to be on a Roadkill DL.

  5. In the past it seems to me that it's been about a week before the start of the regular season, to give a chance to see how Spring Training battles shape up and who starts the year on the DL.
  6. I'm in a good position with my remaining picks. I have rounds 7 through 9 to fill my reserve spots, I traded my 10th round pick, and I can use rounds 11 and 12 to take a couple of fliers on DL stashees.
  7. If there is a strike I think it's more likely to be due to a stalemate over a salary cap.
  8. I was picking your guy as you were asking me if I was going to pick. :D
  9. I was going to pick Oliver Perez, but I just got beat to him, so it's Aaron Cook to fill out my active roster. 65. Corey Hart 66. Jose Lopez 67. Nick Swisher 68. Andy Sonnanstine 69. Iwamura 70. 11. NC Cubs command Lou to use Marmol as a true stopper rather than wasting him in one-inning, three-run-lead save situations, then draft Kevin Gregg. :D
  12. The Cubs were included (in a bad way) in the Prime Nine I saw yesterday. It was the nine greatest comebacks, and number 9 was the 1929 World Series game where the Athletics scored 10 runs in a single inning against the Cubs to erase an 8-0 Cubs lead. The top 4 all included the Red Sox (they were on the good end of two and the bad end of two). #4 and #3 both included the 1986 Red Sox; #4 was their comeback win over the Angels in the ALCS (when they hit a tater off of former Cub Donnie Moore), and #3 was the Mets' comeback win in that years' World Series (when a ball went through former Cub Bill Buckner's legs). #2 and #1 were both Red Sox vs. Yankees moments. #2 was the Yankees' rally in the 1978 season when they forced a tie with the Red Sox, then won a one-game playoff on Bucky Dent's home run; #1 was the 2004 ALCS when the Red Sox won the series after being down 3 games to 0.
  13. You're doing a good job of picking up my fifth starter candidates. First Baker, now Duchscherer.
  14. I hadn't thought of that before; I didn't realize the ability to add our own picks was currently enabled. I'll do that from here on out. We should still continue to post our picks here too so we can keep up with whose turn it is. If somebody does add a player out of turn the penalty should be that their entire team is wiped out and they need to rebuild from scratch with the leftover table scraps after the draft is over. :D

  16. He was on my radar for one of my 6th round picks if he got that far.
  17. Looks like I'm up; I'll take Francisco Cordero (unless I've lost track and he's already taken).
  18. I'm around this evening (not continuously online but checking in from time to time), so if my pick comes up I'll be able to make it tonight.
  19. If it looks like it's screwing up again maybe we should wait anyway until Juan can get things fixed.
  20. Thats funny, cause I never even took Dempster to begin with. Guess thats what the preranking was and time rand out. Though when I opened the draft room, it ws still my pick. And the player listings show Dempster as a free agent. It looks like Juan's adding Dempster to the roster of the manager who drafted him has been wiped out. Damnit, that's me. The transaction report still shows you adding Dempster (it's on page 2) and it doesn't show a subsequent drop, so I don't know what happened.

  22. I'm 99.9999999999999999999999% sure that Choo would still be exempt. The three exempt years are the first three years that the player has more than the specified number of plate appearances or pitching appearances. Nothing in the rule says that the exempt years have to be consecutive years.
  23. That pick will probably be my closer, because RP is the only position I don't have anybody for yet. I anticipate filling out my pitching staff with that pick and my two 6th-rounders.
  24. Damn. The more options in the market (on either lines) the better for the Bears. Maybe the Bears are one of the unnamed teams he's interested in being traded to.
  25. Albert Pujols as backup catcher. Sorry Bako; been nice knowing you. :-))
