  1. I think he might be willing to waive it with the understanding that he'll still have a position in the Cubs' organization after retirement. I was under the impression that his return to the Cubs was largely based on his desire to be part of the organization in some capacity after his playing days are over. I know there's been some speculation of an eventual broadcasting position.
  2. Why wouldn't they be? It would be great to work for a guy who didn't judge you on unreasonable things like performance. http://www.sdplastics.com/dedhorse.gif
  3. From the rules thread: Lamb is not on the major league DL. Therefore, he can only be included on the DL in Roadkill at the commissioner's discretion. And the commissioner has already stated in this thread that it isn't allowed. Case closed.
  4. As previously mentioned there is no reason for putting minor leaguers on the DL, since they're inactive anyway. It would just be a loophole to allow you to exceed our limit of 10 minor leaguers. I believe the reasoning behind the minor league eligibility rule is so that you don't have to use a major league roster spot on a player who may be a star in the future but is currently a bench player. So, yes, it actually does make sense.
  5. They can be addressed by you reading the rules for minor league eligibility. I also have a couple of current major leaguers on my minor league roster (Brown and Conger). You can keep players on your minor league roster even if they're in the majors until they've exceeded the limits in a single season. Once they lose minor league eligibility you can't keep them on your minor league roster unless they get sent back down in real baseball.
  6. More excellent amateur talent assessment by the Cubs' top notch scouting department. We get it. You don't think much of the Cubs' organization and hate Hendry with a passion. No need to keep beating that dead horse over and over and over and over and over again with every post of yours.
  7. Some of us remember the 103 loss seasons of '62 & '65. This team, with it's injuries, could end up being that bad. Others of us remember that it was 66, not 65. :P What I remember about that era is that 65 was the last year of the College of Coaches, at least in name (the rotating head coach system was abolished a couple years earlier in favor of a single head coach, Bob Kennedy, who was therefore a de facto manager). Following the 65 season the College was completely scrapped and Leo Durocher was hired as manager. He promptly declared that the Cubs were not an 8th place team, and in 66 they proved him right by finishing 10th.
  8. I think his fate is tied to Hendry's. I don't see Hendry firing a manager after just one year, but a new GM would likely bring in a new manager.
  9. Yes. That happened when the site was hacked last year. Search and many of the moderators' tools weren't working either. A week or so ago Tim upgraded to the latest edition of PhpBB and that fixed the problems. What the [expletive]?!? That's crazy. Didn't you guys do any research to fix the issue? Why didn't you reach out to the user base to see if anyone has phpbb knowledge? There's ton of people out there who you could higher to fix the problem dirt cheap? That's maddening. There had been some mention of the problems, I believe mainly in the Site Suggestions forum. I believe at least the search and new member registration problems were mentioned.
  10. So it's ok to stock pile 11-13 minor league players when you have zero intention of competing this season by burying some of them on the DL? That's how I'm looking at it too. You need to be able to replace injured major league players so you can continue earning points at that position. That's not true at the minor league level, though, since you're not earning points even if the player is healthy and playing.

  12. What ailment would that prescription treat?
  13. Why of course...if it is not you or Tim, Adam gets a few words in there as well My team is kicking booty this week while I'm out of the country. Maybe I should just move overseas. :-k Hey, I'm within 100 points of you (just barely). I'm not sure that you're allowed to put Lamb on your DL. My understanding is that it's for players on major league DLs only. Others can chime in on whether they think I'm right about this.
  14. That brings up another question I have. I guess from someone who hasn't participated on the forum in a while it's a little daunting/difficult to get involved in a 300+ pagethread about movies/music/games etc. What exactly is the rationale behind having 1 master thread for topics? To me it makes it hard to go back and join in on the conversation. I guess i'm just more used to another format. Huh? The social forum has a seperate thread for each of these. I think he means, for example, having one movie thread rather than separate threads for specific movies.
  15. Soriano is on the DL now. He's expected to return as soon as eligible in 15 days.
  16. Dayton Ohio's Tony Campana now has three SBs today.
  17. Meanwhile players like Dave Crouthers (who retired in 2005 after being traded to the Cubs in the Sammy Sosa trade) and Dwaine Bacon are still in the database.
  18. Methinks Danks should worry more about his pitching.
  19. i'll gladly continue my descent toward the bottom of the standings. Four-way tie for worst record in the league now (you, Chuck, Karen, and me).
  20. Second win of the year, by 115 points. It would have been embarrassing to lose to a team with only 4 pitching starts.
  21. Doctors are 99% sure Carter has an inoperable Grade 4 glioblastoma. Doctors still hope for a complete cure by shrinking the tumors.
  22. Maybe Baker's hurt bad enough to go on the DL.
