  1. you got to be in the majors to be the worst in the majors
  2. I thought it was more the part where he says they say what they have to say and aren't against the Cubs. What that translates to is them playing to their own fans. Which I can't blame them. If he came out and said he loves the Cubs organization and has nothing against them White Sox fans would jump on him just like we did when he criticized us.
  3. That would be absolutely hilarious. I think i would make at-shirt of it and wear it when I know I'll be around a Cardinal fan.
  4. I don't think there's anything in the rulebook, but I always saw it as that gray area between trying to get an advantage and being classless. Kind of like when A-Rod yelled "I got it!" while approaching 3rd base against Toronto (I think) last season. It also brings up the age-old debate over playing the game "the right way". That being said, a large part of Spygate was over stealing signs as well. They were videotaped in advance and it's a completely different sport, but it's interesting how it can be so clean-cut in football and not in baseball. I guess I understand this. I guess I just think that the signs are used to disguise and if you aren't diguising well enough you should have to pay by having the other team know what your going to do. The only clear-cut thing about in football was the rule against using recording equipment to film the signs. There's no clear-cut rule against stealing signs though. Yes there is. You can steal signs all you want in the NFL. That's why head coaches hide their mouths and all that stuff. You just can't tape and then use the tape to figure them out. It' virtually impossible to figure out the signs in one game but if you can by just using your eyes the NFL allows it.
  5. No, he was "only" 1 for 2, with a home run, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 3 walks. jeez he sucks
  6. good luck with that don't you like purdue? if so, enough out of you Yes I do. Why that matters I don't know. I just can't see West Virginia playing up to their talent level because they personnel that fits a unique very uncommon offensive system. BTW this is one of the main reasons I really hate ND. They win three games yet experts, and I'm using that loosely, have them ranked in pre-season polls. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=schlabach_mark&id=3459463
  7. you guys here a cow jumped over the moon today
  8. bingo ... stop holding a grudge don't be the 40 year old who comes to a high school reunion still holding ill feelings for someone that did bad things to you years ago aka grow up
  9. good luck with that
  10. Cardinals don't pay for pitchers they sign the ones no one wants and then have them dominate. I could see Astros making a play because they need to and Nolan will want a pitcher but I just don't see it. They took on a big contract last year with Tejada and have Lee/Berkman getting bad well too. They have seen Oswalt fall of the Earth and I don't see the owner okaying them to spend a lot of money on a pitcher with an injury history.
  11. he'll be booed because he's on the Cubs now plus he said some negative things when they traded him
  12. No one is bickering here so I assume you are talking about a different thread but why does it matter what thread people post in as long as it correlates to the thread title? Also isn't bickering and arguing the point to message boards? I have no idea what's going on so I'm pretty much just asking what is up because I'm lost as to why you posted this.
  13. ... I still don't know what you mean. red hair up top means there's a fire down below
  14. Kind of hard to score runs when you have had offensive forces like Jacque Jones, Cesar Izturis, Cliff Floyd, Jeromy Burnitz, and Todd Hollandsworth hitting behind you I realize that but for a guy who has hit .300+ with 30+ hr's to never score 100 in 5 or 6 years with that production is pretty rare. Guys in awful offenses who are the guy in that offense still manage to score 100 most seasons.
  15. good for him I wish him well
  16. This is because Aram had 4 errors in the first couple weeks and is still making up for it. I had neevr really looked it up to get a true read but had just taken my friends word for it that Wright wasn't even close to Aram last year defensively. Yeah Wright had 21 errors Aram 10 :banghead: . Aram's fielding percenatge was higher than 5 of the 7 years Rolen got a GG :banghead: Another stat note that I hadn't realized is Aram has never scored 100 runs. Pretty surprising to me. Lastly he is 2 walks away from matching last year's total I give credit to him and Piniella for that.
  17. Except for as soon as you start your leg kick it would be obvious which you would be using. And if I'm not mistaken there is a rule that says you must wear a glove because some pitchers way back in the day used to say it put them off balance and tried not to use one.
  18. IBC rootbeer of the more common everyday ones it's between coke, cherry coke, and Mt. Dew. Just depends on the day. And how any one likes the nasty want to throw up RC Cola is beyond me. I'm just gonna guess and say you guys are a bit older because my parents always talk about how big RC Cola used to be.
  19. I just saw that as well. He's actually a good guy, who isn't full of himself and knows how to make fun of himself.
  20. Well let's see only one of those will be spliting carries. Keep Jackson, Grant, and Manning. It's a question between Grant and Barber not Manning or running backs. There are two quarterbacks that rate as high has most runningbacks and Peyton is one of them.
  21. If we want Kasper do that we should just get Chris Berman to do our games. A broadcaster needs to make his own signature and not steal someone else's. And as much as I hate them the put it on the board yes is a really good homerun call.
  22. Look beyond the last 3 months. Wright's significantly better (than ARam) in each of the last 3 seasons. I still don't see how anyone can say they are "close." Wright: 05: .912 06: .912 07: .963 08: .841 Ramirez: 05: .926 06: .912 07: .915 08: .934 I'd say they're extremely close offensively. I'd call it a wash. I don't know how good Wright is defensively, but if Aramis is better like people are saying, then I'd give the nod to him for overall better 3B. EqA Wright: .313 .311 .337 .300 ARam: .301 .295 .300 .315 One major flaw of OPS is the equal weight in OBP and SLG. Wright's huge advantage in OBP and the fact that he steals bases so effectively, esp the last 2 years, shifts the balance significantly in his favor. I don't know what the OP meant by "better" - who is better this season, who has been better, who would you rather have for the next year, next 5 years, next 10 years. But the answer to almost all of those questions (except who's been better this year) is Wright. Actually the answer to all but the next 10 years is Arod (he will play most likely just as well as Wright if not a little better and from an owners standpoint will make you loads as he chases the record)
  23. well if you're married then your not having sex anyways so why get your wife involved As for me I originally voted for whatever it takes but seeing how so many of you have said the same I think I wouldn't abstain and just go around satisfying all your sex deprived women.
  24. ARod is king Wright, ARam, and Chipper are the princes (really depends on what you want on who you pick out of those and age doesn't factor in because we are talking about who is better not who is the best to build around) everyone else is the jesters
  25. Also, a heinous schedule and no conference championship game. If they go to the NC game again this year and get killed, something is going to have to be done about it. I'm all for adding a championship game to the Big Ten, or else adding a +1 format to the BCS. I wish they'd just stop with all the excuses and do it. There shouldn't be a way for a team to simply slide from their conference schedule right into the Championship game with no other buffer at all. No incentive for the Big 10 to do so though. They get 2 teams in the BCS every year by keeping the status quo. Yep, why change and lose millions (why I'm not that mad about ND not joining a conference). And OSU played the 53rd and 38th toughest schedules the last two years. By no means tough but not cupcakes either. How about someone doing something revolutionary and acting in the best interest of the sport instead of for their own selfish financial interests? Just a thought. because no one else would and the NCAA isn't the first organization the many teams belonged to. At least in the Big Ten the schools belonged to the conference first and therefore they do what is best for the conference.
