Marbury was a pretty good player in his prime (age 21-26). Rose is bigger, and a better and more willing passer. Marbury was probably more of a true scorer, but Rose should be able to shoot better than the miserable 30% from 3 that Marbury shot during his prime years. Marbury averaged 8 assists and sometimes 9 assists per game in each of his first 11 seasons. He was a fine passer. He just played on teams that had one or two other scorers and nothing elese so he shot too much. He has been consistently average with his 3, although his career percentage is .326 so not quite as bad as you say. I did say in his prime which was from age 21-26 as I pointed out earlier. He's become a much better shooter with age. 8-9 assists is solid, but I never said Marbury was a bad passer, just not as good as Rose is. And for the record, Marbury never averaged 9 assists in a single season (8.9 twice, only 1 other season over 8.5). Also, I don't see your point that he only played w/ 1 or 2 scorers. First off, how many teams in NBA history have had more than 2 guys you could consider "scorers". Secondly, Marbury played w/ 3-4 others players in Minnesota and NJ who averaged over 12 PPG in every season. I should have clarified more. Averaging 8-9 assists in 9 straight seasons is extremely rare and to say right off the bat Rose is better than that despite never playing in the NBA isn't something that should be done. If he averaged 8 assists this next year I think most Bulls fans would be thrilled. Marbury is 22nd all-time in assists and needs 800 more (averages 533 a season) to be top 10. Marbury may be the most underrated PG of all time (never been a fan of his but just looking at his numbers and the respect level he has) and certainly one of the top PG of this generation. My point with the only playings with one other scorer is he hasn't been on very many if any good teams and thus has shot the ball more than almost any other PG. He's almost universally labeled a ball hog and he is more than say Kidd but you don't get that many assists by hogging the ball all the time. He was inconsistent with his three early in his career. Shooting .360 one year and .280 the next. But 21-26 isn't the prime years to me. At 21 most players are still adjusting to the NBA. I would go with 24-30. In those years Marbury has shot over .300 in all but one year and his average is roughly around .340 in those years. Lastly I miswrote in my first post he averaged 8 or so assists each of his first 9 years not 11 (although I would probably give a lot of blame to Thomas for the last two years. Not everyone plays PG the way he did).
