  1. In terms of playing right now, sure, but in terms of talent on the field.......the Cards are closer to the Newark Bears. The Twins still have some very good ML talent in their lineup (Morneau/Mauer/Cuddyer/Young) they, to me, seem like they are underachieving, based on their talent level.
  2. but... but... he hit for the cycle is that the only thing you know?yep. i actually have no idea how good of a player Gomez is. inform me. Think of a RH version of Felix Pie. Got good ML talent, but like Pie he is still extremely raw. That's the impression I get from Gomez.
  3. That's a great stat. Thanx..... I got a mess of 'em !!! CUBS are 1-0 when they've won their last 7 game(s) in a row CUBS are 1-0 when they've won their last 8 game(s) in a row Yeah, but you forgot one Fred: The Cubs are 48-28, when they have the lead after the final out of the game is made.
  4. I hear he wont sign a minor league deal. Hes going to wait until he's fully ready to go, and wait for someone to offer him a big league deal. Then pass. No team, unless they are PITCHING STARVE to heck and back, will offer him a ML contract. And he certainly wouldn't pitch before August. So, if he won't take a minor league contract, then pass.
  5. Me too. 7-1 final is my prediction. =D>
  6. The White Sox did their talking off the field and through the media, the Cubs did their talking where it mattered, on the field. If this weekend taught us anything, it is this...we know where the mentality of both teams are. For the Cubs they are about settling it on the field, like men, like professionals, whereas the White Sox, they are about complaining to the media, about how unfair they are treated. Good jobs Cubs, you put the Sox in their place all weekend, and it was great to see.
  7. why? I think he is alluding to the fact that it doesn't take much to get yourself banned on WSI. Unless you are butt kissing the WS, and/or hating the Cubs, you get banned from that site.
  8. I'm at work, so I can't see the game, but is Dempster going back out in the 8th?
  9. You know its gonna happen next week, and then when we retaliate (if Lou stoops to it), it'll work against us. I wouldn't retaliate. The only way I would retaliate is if the White Sox hit ARam a couple of times, and then hit either Lee or Fukudome, etc, etc. Otherwise, let the White Sox continue to make a fool out of themselves.
  10. Randy? Which Randy Moss are you talking about; the NFL player, or the Horse racing analyst?
  11. :write: Don't worry Vance, the Brewers will be no closer after tonight, then they are right now. They wills till be 6.5 games back after tonight.
  12. Boom Boom got released? How dare those Orioles release Boom Boom. As we speak, Baker and Jockertity are "heated discussion" about bring in Boom Boom.
  13. I don't have the feeling. As for the White Sox continuing to spew their garbage, all they are doing is trying to get coverage for their team. There thing bad coverage is better then no coverage. I resent them for trying to get coverage for their team at the expense of the Cubs, cause it's bitter, juvenile, and tremendously unprofessional. As long as the Cubs continue to take the high road, and let the White Sox continue to put their foot in their mouth, all is fine. Let the White Sox continue to be immature, the Cubs are the classier team, anyways.
  14. FWIW; In Ken Rosenthal latest video blog, he mentions that the A's could suddenly become buyers.
  15. Derek Jeter is not overrated. Overhyped yeah, overrated, and overpaid, yes. He has been generally one of the better players for the past decade. For his nationally recognize name, he has been very productive in his career. So again, I don't think Jeter is overrated. (But ESPN can stop Elton Johning him, tho).
  16. That used to be the case, but not any more. The start of interleague play, the elimination of the league presidents, and the elimination of separate umpiring staffs for the two leagues are all moves toward a situation like in football. MLB is analagous to the NFL, and the two leagues are basically the equivalent of the NFC and the AFC. The DH is the only difference that remains, and with the current climate that difference really needs to be eliminated. The MLB needs to go back to the old ways. AL had THEIR UMPS, as do the NL. The two leagues had their own league presidents, and so on and so on. And the interleague crap needs to end. It was fun for a few yrs, but it's now in burder. I much rather have more matchups with the Cards and the Brewers, then having to face the likes of the Orioles, Blue Jays and the Rays. If baseball wants to do the "one league baseball", then Spring Training would be fun. But MLB needs a separation of leagues.
  17. hear that fred wilpon? your mets will always be second fiddle to the yankees, so it's time to pack up and head off to greener pastures. I wouldn't mind both being contracted. But how about send one of them to Sacremento, and the other to Oregon?
  18. And Kenny Williams and Ozzie Guillen wonder why people in Chicago will not accept the White Sox as the cities' team. Earth to heckle and jeckle, snide remarks will not win you points in a popular contest. What the White Sox are doing is proving the point that the Cubs don't need to "insult" the other team, just beat 'em down on the field, and prove their are the superior team. I'm liking how the Cubs are handing this, there letting the White Sox come off as bitter, jaded, uneducated, and simply jealous. They have a world series championship, and yet they still feel the need to show their inferiority complex. I will say it now, if the White Sox ever want to be "the team" in the city, they need to move. I hear Sacremento needs a team. The White Sox will never be considered the "it team" in Chicago, and that is a hard concept to grasp for those pinheads. And once the Cubs sweep the White Sox, they will have more mud on their faces.
  19. Multiple trips to Hooters can do that to you..... or so I hear. I thought that was called "motorboating?"
  20. The guy that did that highlights mentioning the Dodgers as a suitor. Is he serious? Unless the Dodgers makes a run, I doubt the Dodgers will give up some of their prized prospects for a rental, who isn't even guarantee to help them to the playoffs. If for nothing else, I would love the Cubs to acquire CC, just to add another bat to the bench. My god, that was a BOMB.
  21. Sign him for AAA. Can't hurt.
  22. What happens if the ball doesn't stay hit? You send it to obedience school? You call a "bad ball" and rub it's face in the dirt. You popped it on the nose? What do you do?
  23. Like most, I wowuld like to put the foot to the Cards throat, and just killed their season, but as long as the Cubs take care of their business, the Cards won't catch them. And the Brewers are still not a threat.
  24. Am I the only one who thinks Dice K, might have been a tad overrated, when he came over to the states? He hasn't been nearly as bad as Irabu, but he hasn't exactly lit up the AL either, like somebody who cost his team $100 mill to win the bid and then sign him. I mean, my god, if the Cardinals can light him up, then maybe he is not as good as ESPN trying to make him out to be. And I, for one, amglad the Cubs did not win that bid.
  25. Which begs the question: ARam's homerun .v. the Milwaukee Breweres or ARam's homerun .v. the White Sox?
