  1. I doubt the Bears will cut Cedric Benson. Why? Tank Johnson. Tank's charges were alot more severely then Cedric's drinking. And the Bears stayed with him as long as possible. So I doubt Benson get cut before Training Camp, even tho they should, they just won't.
  2. I can't wait until he starts interviewing guys like Bobby Hurley, Mark Price, and Thunder Dan. Man those will be great days.
  3. I'm totally with you. But it'll never happen. Limited replay, yes, but complete elimination of fat, arrogant, incompetent umpires? Never. I think the Cubs should send a petition into baseball, and asking them never to assigned the "brilliant" Cousins and Hernandez umpire crew to Cubs game again. It's apparently these two jerks have something against the Cubs. And everytime this crew umps Cubs games, the Cubs will automatically be at a disadvantage.
  4. I still think switching Fuku and Lee in the order, is prolly the best temp solution (othen then switching Lee and ARam). Either that, or force Lee to sit a couple of games in a row. I love Lee, but when he struggles, our middle of the order becomes easier to pitch to. By having Lee and Fuku switch spots (Fuku 3rd, and Lee 5th) this would---in theory---give Lee more chances with runners on, and he could see more fastball counts. Nonetheless, something needs to happen with Lee. Without Lee hitting in the middle of the lineup, our middle becomes very average. Unless Fuku magicially become a 30 homerun guy. With that said, the Cubs WILL WIN tomorrow, force the split, and get the winning road trip.
  5. When I first was watch Cub games, I watch those games with my father and brother. And while those teams sucks, Harry and Stone were simply good together. Looking back at it.....to me...Stone, like most have said, has abit of "I know baseball, because I was a former Cy Young winner and you're not" type attitude. I'm not saying that was bad, I was just saying, he grated my nerves now. Stone should have patented, "If the pitcher throws a slider, low and away, he should get him" as his catchprase, seeing he used it, like Paris Hilton uses "That's hot." And Harry,he was wasted 96.7% of the time. Chip, did not, nor would not talk down to his audience. Nor should he, but he could come down off his high hrose, once in a while. Len and Bob are simply gold together. So what I am saying is...Harry and Stone will always hold special memories to me.............. But let's face...Kasper/Brenly are soooooooooo much better are calling games, it's not even a debate. My answer is Brenly, but a landslide.
  6. To give the casual fan something to bitch about in 10 years when he is a stud and they find out that we lost out on him. If the Cubs had $5MM+ for Shark, they should be able to come up with enough to sign this guy. Gray seems like a better bet. Agree. Shark had a guarantee 1st/2nd rd money to play in the NFL, the Cubs had to compete against. I'm not saying it will be easy, but the Cubs did draft him, wth the intentions of signing him. Yes, I did read the article in the thread, about he is firmly to Vanderbilt, but if the Cubs hit the magic number, I definately see Gray deciding to make the jump. I know it's a longshot, but.......where's there hope...
  7. fixed If you are going to fix a quote, about somebody calling Ponson a douche, you need to address Ponson, as "Sir" since he was knighted in his home country. So the correct statement isL "Sir Sidney Ponson, is a grade A douche."
  8. wait until hernandez is behind the plate. it'll get even better. Someone needs to page Mongo to head to Dodger stadium, when Hernandez is the home plate ump. Maybe a little intimadation can help Angel do his job properly.
  9. Still need to score though Until proven otherwise, I feel confident the Cubs can and will score. Now if you are talking about winning the game........we'll if you talk to the Dodgers fans over at Dodger Blues, they would tell you, that Torre is likely to give the Cubs the game, or Borxton/Saito will blow it. So while, Cousins seems to like screwing the Cubs, I feel this game is still within reach.
  10. I think it is safe to say, the maybe Piniella should tinker with the lineup a little. I know it's not ideal, but I'd like to see Fuku and Lee switch spots in the lineup. Lee isn't giving the Cubs anything right now as the #3, so i think to help clear his cobwebs, I think the Cubs should move him to 5th, behind ARam, and Fuku to 3rd.
  11. Agreed. Which is why, options 1 and 1B should be AJ Burnett and Rich Harden.
  12. The Brewers picked him in the sandwich round. Thanks CCP. I see the Backs drafted Stink junior. Cool. Don't forget, Howie Long's other son, Kyle was also drafted.
  13. I'm sorry reds44. There is no amount of words, I or my fellow Cub fans can say that can help you through this rough times.
  14. Someone needs to get Eva Longoria in here, to perform CPR on O_O, because I sure as hell won't. Need Longoria-Parker in here, stat.
  15. I'm sure Cardinals and Brewers fans despise him. I know for a fact that Brewers fan on brewerfans.net absolutely despise Aramis Ramirez. Don't know about Theriot, but Braun is the Cubs, as ARam is to the Brewers.
  16. I thought I read somewhere that Kemp was suspended for 4 games, and the thought was he wasn't going to appeal. Has there been a change?
  17. It's not a terrible pick, but it's not one I would have made in the 1st rd. With that said, it's disconcerning to me that the Cubs will bounced between drafting "high upside" athletes, and "high upside" arms with control problems. I thought Friedrichs would have been a better pick, to be honest.
  18. It would be 2003 but with a better offense. And defense. And contrary to popular belief.......and manager.
  19. Prolly not. Note, I said PROLLY, don' tmean I wouldn't, just mean I wouldn't trade him wihtout blinking an eye. I would trade Geo, only because catchers like Soto, IMO are valuable to a team then OFers like Jay Bruce. I'm not taking anything away from Jay Bruce, he's an extremely talented OF, but CFers like him---regardless of the Cubs---are easier to find then catchers like Soto. Not to mention, I am not saying Soto is more talented then Bruce, but catcher like Soto are harder to find, not to mention harder to developed then CFers like Bruce. I know I am going to be flamed for this, and go ahead. I like Bruce, I would trade for him, if I could, but I absolutely believes that Soto is more valuable to the Cubs, then Bruce is to the Reds.
  20. I can't believe I am going to agree with Steve Phillips, BUT I will. Phillips said the other day, they didn't like the move of Joba to the pen. The reason is while Joba improves the rotation (After first start, that might be a stretch) once every 5 days, whereas the bullpen takes a hit every day. If the Yanks were planning to do this, they should have found a suitable replacement for Joba, instead of hoping Farnsworth can do the job. In other words...this is a desparate---once a Cub like move---move by a team, that definately sees their playoff appearance streak comig to an end. The Yankees should have waited to the offseason, before they made this move. The Yankees will not make the playoffs.
  21. Aww.......yes....The Internet Stalking is back.....
  22. With this win, the Cubs have broken their 5 road series losing streak. Here's to putting the peddle to the meddle, and not letting St. Louis/Milwaukee/Houston even sniff 1st place again.
  23. First: I'm glad Good Bobby Howry is back. He is so much better thenhis evil twin, "Bad Bob." Second: Can we please get those runs back in the ninth, and kill the Padres hope once and for all?
