  1. The Cubs WILL WIN THIS GAME, and I am confident in making that proclamation.
  2. I'm hoping Lou has bigger plans then just removing Marquis from the rotation. I'm hoping he convinces Hendry to DFA Marquis.
  3. That'll work. Although the Jays are only 5 games out and Boston just lost Ortiz for a month. And they have Marcum/McGowan/Litsch all developing. And I believe that Toronto wouldn't mind from getting AJ's contract off the books, and reinvest that money into acquiring another bat.
  4. As to Destin Hood, incredible athlethe, but is there is a team that will pony up the money for "an athlete" like Hood. Remember Hood has signed schloarship to play for Nick Saban at Alabama. So, where looking at some good dough to get Hood (remember I am CT fan, so I am conflicted about this) to break away from playing at Alabama. As a Alabama fan, I would love for him to stay at Alabama, and play football (I think he has higher upside as WR, to be honest). But something tells me, so team is going to buy into his athlethicism and hope he doesn't become like so many before a bust, because he can't translate athlethicism to actual baseball skills. I just hope the Cubs stay away from unproven athletes, and go with young men, who will actually help the Cubs within 5 yrs.
  5. I'm hoping the Cubs offense takes care of this for Lou. Because I believe Lou would bring in Marmol in a game of 5 or less runs. The Cubs just need to blow the doors open for a few days (Till the 2nd game of the Dodgers) to get Marmol some rest.
  6. Either he is not picking the right pitches to hit, or there is something different about his swing. Either way, 11 GIDP is disconcerning. Maybe for the time being, maybe switch out ARam and Lee, ARam 3rd, and Lee 4th.
  7. Anybody who looks like Noah, but still gets the "ladies", is alright with me. That and fact, that he "brings it" on the court every night, and I could tolerate the occasional annoyance of Noah. I can't imagine anyone making over $2 million a year with celebrity status not being able to get ladies. Don't matter.
  8. For all of their problems so far, the AL Central is so bad this year that they could get back into it with a minor winning streak. The White Sox have won, but their hitters are showing signs of old age and Guillen's rants will add to their downfall. The Twins always seem to be competitve, but they're a flawed team. Who knows what happened to the Tigers. The condition is called, "Overhype-itis." A condition brought on by the team believing their preseason clippings. Other teams to suffer from this condition include the 07-08 Chicago Bulls, the 07 Chicago Bears, just to name a couple.
  9. Anybody who looks like Noah, but still gets the "ladies", is alright with me. That and fact, that he "brings it" on the court every night, and I could tolerate the occasional annoyance of Noah.
  10. I won't say he was talking out of his ass, I think Joey was just being a kid. I think he was just playing on the early "rumors" that Rose would be a Bull, and he thought he was some fun with the media, and pick the opposite. I see no harm, I just see a kid having a little fun. That's not just kid stuff. I still get a kick out of starting rumors at work just so I can see how long it takes before I hear the rumor from someone else and how much the rumor changes within a couple of days. It's really fun when you're in the Army to start rumors like "Battalion just got a tasking to send 5 people on to Iraq/Afganistan to support 12 month taskers, and they will be leaving in 90 days." Two days later, someone tries to tell you that 12 people are going to be gone within a month and everyone is freaking out because we're already short handed as it is. Hahaha. You're kid at heart.
  11. To be honest, the Cubs miss both Peavy and Young in this series, so.....
  12. ANother interesting fact in a Cubs/Rockies series, if memory serves, the Cubs got franchise victory #10,000 against the Rocks.
  13. May 19 to June 2, 2001 when they won 12 straight. I remember that. I was at Game #11 of that streak in Milwaukee. Maybe Julio Zuleta performed voodoo on the bats again in spring training. I thought he performed the voodoo shortly before the start of the winning streak. Which btb, if anybody remembers, then 12 game winning straight followed the 10 game losing streak..Interesting stretch of 22 games, to say the least.
  14. I won't say he was talking out of his ass, I think Joey was just being a kid. I think he was just playing on the early "rumors" that Rose would be a Bull, and he thought he was some fun with the media, and pick the opposite. I see no harm, I just see a kid having a little fun. Certainly no harm. I think it would be hilarious if Dorsey ends up a Chicago Bull.
  15. If Bazuin and Dvoracek are healthy, along with the literal heart and soul of the defense Mike Brown, (these are big questions) the Bears should have a Top 5 defense next yr. Along of people don't realize this is still the same defense that took the Bears to Super Bowl 2 yrs back. The Bears D should be fun to see again. I will make the case, the Bears "D" will be better then both the Packers and Vikings. As for Simms, can't we just trade a conditional 6th/7th rd pick for him and get it over with? I hope Cedric Benson brings it this yr. I hope the incident with the Texas law, put a series chip on his shoulder. Cause I really like to see Benson/Forte rip defenses apart this yr.
  16. i guess you missed it... greinke got good again. Perhaps, but good over 2 months isn't worth whatever prospects we have left If we're lucky, some of those prospects might turn into a 24-year-old, 120+ ERA starting pitcher Agreed. A this point, the Cubs farmhands, are closer to being suspects then actul prospects, with the excpetion of a few players.
  17. How are they an annoyance? They're not very good and they are 8 games back. They aren't a team to even think about in this race. Oh....IDK, how about the fact that Dunn has literally owned the Cubs since forever. Harang has pitched well against the Cubs. And they have enough talent to win games against the Cubs. Don't know about you, but as a fan, every time the Cubs play the Reds (home or away) I have the uneasy feeling in that series. The Reds have notoriously play the Cubs tough. Just because there are 8 games back, don't mean they can' thave an impact on the Cubs season.
  18. I won't say he was talking out of his ass, I think Joey was just being a kid. I think he was just playing on the early "rumors" that Rose would be a Bull, and he thought he was some fun with the media, and pick the opposite. I see no harm, I just see a kid having a little fun.
  19. I wonder if the call up of Homer Bailey was based on how well Jay Bruce have been playing. I know Bailey was in the majors last yr, but with the way Bruce is playing, I wonder if the Reds are hoping to continue to feed off that momentum by bringing up a very talented young arm. I mean if everything goes to plan, a rotation of Harang/Arroyo/Volquez/Cuerto/Bailey can keep the Reds in the race (atleast the Wild Card) for a very long time. If there is one team that is getting close to being "more then an annoyance" it is the Reds. But on the flip side, they do have Dusty as their manager, and he will managed them out of the race.
  20. Go Cubs Go. I like settig the pace in the division, instead of chasing the pace. But, June will tell what kind of team the Cubs are. We know they are outstanding at home, but if the Cubs can end June with a .500 mark on the road, the Cubs will be hard to beat in the 2nd half.
  21. I'm at a stage where I can atleast Semi-tolerate the guy. If he continues to hit decently, then I could relase "semi" from that, and simply tolerate the guy.
  22. Yeah, the Cubs are 5-2 on ESPN this yr, including that big 19-5 whoopah of the Brew-Crew. But 2 cases of bad news: 1: The Cubs only have two more ESPN games left on the schedule. The Dodgers in LA and the White Sox at Wrigley. 2: Circle the dates August 9, and September 20. You know why.........the Cubs and the Cards get together for ole Saturday afternoon baseball on.............FOX. You know what that'll mean....................two games of "unbias" commentary from Buck/McCarver.....yeah...................I wonder if we can petition FOX into letting either Brenly or Kasper join the game calling for either dates, so that we don't have to listen to the "love affair" between those two and the Cards.....But the good news is....both games will be at Wrigley.
