  1. This is the part of the article that I love from Mariotti. It really shows where the two franchise are at, mentally. Jim Hendry and the Cubs are refusing to play the gutter-trash-talking that the White Sox are trying to pull. The White Sox wonder why they are the "other" Chicago team in the city? Just have them read Jay's column. White Sox are so bitter, so jaded, it's just sad. I think Reinsdorf really needs to consider moving the White Sox out of Chicago, seeing as the WS will never be "the team" in Chicago. As for Kenny Williams: he's not good enough to work for the Cubs. And the Cubs would never be desparate enough to hire Williams. As for Ozzie Guillen: Only the White Sox would hire this bum. The sooner he gets fired from the White Sox, the sooner he leaves everybody collective minds. And I resent the White Sox trying to make a name for themselves, at the expense of the Cubs.
  2. For that matter why does White Sox get games on WGN for that matter? Nobody nationally knows who the White Sox are. Nor do they bring in the ratings. The Cubs do very well by themselves on WGN. WGN can drop White Sox games (to which they could feesibly take the would be WS games, and turn them back into more Cub games on WGN), and just do Cubs games only. Let Comcast or whoever pick up White Sox. Seeing as the target audience for White Sox games, are in Chicago.
  3. ...or at the same time. I think the Blue Jays would like to get out of Vernon Wells' contract. Burnett and Wells for every spare part we have. That'll be going all in for this year. Didn't Vernon Wells sign an extension well over $100 mill with Toronto?
  4. If for nothing else, to watch the '"Harden-Wood" combo dominate NL hitters.
  5. Yeah, but on the flip side, for the Cards, cutting the lead to below 3 is their pipedream, right now.
  6. Not much. boring game. Hahaha. I hear this Musketeer of a 3rd baseman, had a pretty decent game......
  7. Ok.................what'd I miss? :D
  8. At last check, ESPN has Lilly at 77 and Danks at 71, but that is atleast a few pitches ago.
  9. I've been an advocate of moving Lee down for awhile now. I mean Lou has wanted to move Soriano out of the leadoff spot for awhile now, and he's giving up on that, but he won't move Lee down a spot? So yeah, Lou really needs to consider swapping ARam and Lee in the order.
  10. That's why Crede is better than Aramis Only in the minds of the one White Sox fans. In reality, Crede isn't in the same class as ARam. I will say this again, the Cubs will win this game. Edit: I see bc, said it was sacrastic. But the point still stands.
  11. This drives me crazy. I want Z to be ok too but its not dependent on how the team does. If he's hurt, he's hurt. We've got to get back to winning. If Z's ok and we lose, I'm still pissed. Agreed. I am greedy. I want good news on Z, and I want to beat the crap at of the "other" Chicago team.
  12. Yup. At least. In two months when we are running away with the division we will look at this week and laugh All the other NL Central teams are going to die in plane crashes and have to be replaced by their AAA affliliates? the crew is really hot right now And yet, I am still not concern with them, simply because look who is still managing the Brewers. So, even tho they are playing well, there are not a concern, atleast not to me.
  13. The Cubs WILL WIN this game. There is no way the WS will hold onto this lead, with so much of the game left.
  14. If the Cubs don't stop losing, they will have to face........... http://youtube.com/watch?v=kHmvkRoEowc&feature=related Or better yet, you would have to answer to http://youtube.com/watch?v=bCZSDxA8_JA&feature=related
  15. I want three big blowouts. I know it's not likely, but with the way the series went in TB, that how I am feeling. Here's to downing two buds, then a couple of shots of Jack tonight.
  16. I really hope, offensively, they UNLOAD on the White Sox. I mean, nobody on their pitching staff should get off with a decent performance. I know it's doubtful, but a weekend worth of games in which the Cubs beat the Sox 10-1, 12-0, 8-0, would cure alot of ills for the Cubs, and us fans. And what sucks for us, is that the Cubs won't get another chance at those punks, for what a couple of yrs. That sucks.
  17. there are only 2 types of people who like Canada: draft dodgers and guys who just found out their slumpbuster missed her period You hush now. Don't be giving out the secrets.
  18. Agreed. If I was Lou Piniella, I would tell Soriano, there is no conversation, you will play atleast a weeks worth of games at AAA, before you come back to the majors. (I know, I read later in this thread, that someone said there will be a minor league rehab assignment)
  19. The article then goes on to speculate about who is available and focuses on Sabathia. I think it's becoming clear from all the rumors that we will be in the running for someone. Who and at what cost seem to be the only question. vance, I don't thinnk "at what cost" is going to play a part. Everything Hendry has done in the last 2 or so yrs, has been geared up to for a World Series run, which means, I expect Hendry is going into the deadline with a "blank check", so to speak, in terms of what he's willing to spend. The main question will be, who are the Cubs targetting. This certainly has the feel of a year - and a topline starter has the feel of a need - where we should go all out for a need, even if it's just for a few months. The question is, does Hendry have the guts? :-k I think he does. He did once trade Francis Beltran, Justin Jones (at the time two of the Cubs better prospects) in a deal that landed Nomar. He once traded Bobby Hill (again considered one the Cubs "top" prospects) for an underachieving 3rd baseman who turn it around in Chicago. Traded HS Choi (another said TOP prospect) for a solid, but unspectular 1st baseman at the time. So yeah, I do think if Hendry feels it's a worthwhile gamble, he'll take it. The problem is...Cleveland would never take a deal of Vitters/Ceda and a third prospect for CC.
  20. OK then, take the other two out, you wouldn't do Hill and Gallagher for Burnett? Given this may be the last time the cubs are in this position for the foreseeable future? Can they get back to this spot right now (First in June)? Maybe. Would Burnett make them the odds on favorite to represent the NL in the world series? Probably. Gallagher's ceiling is probably a solid #3. Hill's ceiling is maybe a number 2, but who would have thought the cubs would have the best record in baseball without Hill? Where would they be with the Hill of 07, or better yet, someone better that 2007 Rich Hill? They are one shutdown pitcher from being an odds on favorite to get to the world series, probably odds on to win the whole thing. I wouldn't mind trading either for Burnett, but not both. Personally, I would do Hill (or Marshall) Cedeno, and a live arm like Ascanio or Ceda for Burnett. And I think it would be a fair deal.
  21. Of course he didn't, otherwise, how do you explain his picking of AJ Alphabet and his inferior offensive numbers over Geovany Soto? Its seems to me, he HAD to put a couple of White Sox players on the team, if for nothing else to appease the White Sox fans that read his articles. Otherwise, you can make a strong case that the starters on the All-City team should be all Cubs.
  22. All I know is the Cubs won't get swept.
  23. they are hardly a better team, just much much luckier. if they think that their luck will luck them into the playoffs, they've got another thing coming. The Cubs record is 45-26 (Pytagorean record is 46-25), whereas the Rays record is 41-29 (and their Pythagorean record is 38-32), so yeah, the Rays have been slightly more lucky then the Cubs. But I could see the Cubs pull this game out of their butts.
