  1. I'm not going to lie, but I hope both NY and Miami strike out in FA. By striking out I mean overpaying for guys like Joe Johnson and Carlos Boozer because they don't want to leave FA empty handed. Especially Wade after his ill-fated "Bulls are not loyal" comments.
  2. 1: Of course Ryan has to be near the Cup, afterall he's Canadian. 2: Now if we can get that team on the right of the Hawks to win a championship like the two other franchises in this picture, then this would be a truly awesome picture. 3: IDC if you are a White Sox or Cubs fan, this pic, like you said dex, is pretty badass.
  3. Oh yeah, SCREW YOU Pierre. A non-loss by the Cubs, colour me surprise.
  4. Do not mess with the defense. Seriously, that's our biggest strength, and our goalie isn't getting better anytime soon. The talent on the Hawks D is so great that they can turn a average goalie into a really good goalie. So why to fix one problem you create another. Seabrook/Hammer/Soup/Keith can help developed the next goalie.
  5. I've heard that same rumor (Duke/UNC) from the many college football sites I visit. The gut feeling is that there is a REAL possibility that Duke/UNC coud come to the SEC for the reverse reason why the SEC wants them to come. Duke/UNC would come to the SEC for the football prestige, whereas the SEC wants them for their basketbal prestige. Also, adding Duke, UNC, and aTm would greatly increase the academic prestige as well. Yessir.
  6. There's a poster on a Hawks site that I frequently visit and he suggested the Hawks should trade Seabrook. I responded with no.

  8. TCU has punched their ticket to the CWS, with a 4-1 win over TX.
  9. That'd be awful. There is no chance of Hossa being dealt for severa reasons: 1: On paper it is a 12 year deal, but in reality it is essentially an 8 year deal followed by a 4 year cheaper cheap. It was done to lower the cap hit when he signed. 2: This would not be a good image for future fa. You win and then dealt after nearly a year. FA will be leery on signing on. 3: It firmly established Hossa as a merc, and that is something I think that is a moniker he doesn't want, hence the 8 year deal with the Hawks. All in all this writer is talking out of his arse.
  10. http://tamu.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=15&tid=144013790&mid=144013790&sid=893&style=2 Just one person's theory, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if all the parties involved (Pac 10/Big 10/UTX/ABC-ESPN) are in bed with each other. If any part of this theory is true (and let's face the author is implying that the future of college football is in the hands of Texas A&M :-k ) I hope A&M screws them all and accepts the invite to the SEC. Provided if any part of that theory is true.
  11. Well he's gonna have to play a lot when Castro passes out from playing 70 consecutive games. Haha no [expletive]. What has he had since being called up 1 game off? I'm all in favor of letting the kid play thru his struggles, but with tomorrow being an off day and a righty on the mound, today could have given him a few days of rest to re group. Lou gave Fontenot like 3 starts in a row and he had 1 hit so now he never gets to start again. I don't think Castro's had a day off. I show this is his 34th consecutive start. Hoy crap. Outside of 4 offdays/rain outs, Castro has been in the lineup everyday. His numbers definately tell me he is tired. When you're numbers rival that of Ryan Theriot you need a day or three off. Starlin needs a day off.
  12. I don't think going to the SEC would be a step down. After all, academic wise you are no Vanderbilt.
  13. Lou Piniella laughs in the face of logic.
  14. Here, here. I want a 2011 Top 5-10 draft pick, and for that to Cubs need to continue what they are doing.
  15. If it makes you feel better, I'm still not sure if I'd rather Mizzou go to the MWC and be one of the best schools in a slightly lesser conference than have to deal with SEC lunacy in everything. I don't know if I have the energy to follow my team in a conference where I hate everyone in it. As mentioned by Butters, the reason why Missouri would go, is because the SEC is a friggin' money machine. Big 12 or the MWC can't offer anything close to what SEC can with TV revenue (regardless of Dan Beebe's "plan"). The reason I don't want Missouri is that they bring nothing to the table. The can't carry the St. Louis/Kansas market, the fan base is nearly as passionate, the only thing they would bring them to the SEC is too give Arkansas a rival. Right now both Arkansas and LSU do not have a true conference rival, (ie Alabama/AU, Bama/Tenn, Flordia/GA). That's the reason why the SEC should pass on Missouri, but's also the reason why A&M is such a fit in the SEC. Ties to the SEC, rabid fan base, a market the SEC wants to tap, etc, etc. Then TT you won't have to worry, cause I don't see Missouri joining the SEC.
  16. No offense to Missouri fans, but I don't want Missouri in the SEC. I like where Bama is, and much rather not face Florida on a yearly basis, unless it was for the SEC Championship. I prefer to add one team to the west (A&M) and one team to the the east (whoever). And I still think that is the most likely scenerio especially over adding two teams to one division and moving two established in that division over to the other division, even tho said move would be geographically sensible.
  17. where in the [expletive] were you playing pond hockey in JUNE? Don't confused it with what you are thinking. The family I married into considers "pond hockey" as being play in a indoor arena with no rules. So no I am not talking about an actual pond hockey.
  18. 110-112 since the start of 2009. Just saying.
  19. You notice that it was the Big 10 who started this superconference crap, then the Pac 10 took to the next level, all because lil ole SEC is the top dog in college football. You say it's money, and it's a money grab, but don't pretend that it isn't a move by the Big 10 and Pac 10 to close the talent level gap that separates the SEC from the Big 10/Pac 10.
  20. I hope everybody enjoy the week, cause man my week has been busy. Suffice to say, don't ever play full contact pond hockey with a bunch of Canadians then go on a drinking binge to end all drinking binges. Found out about the Hawks on Friday, when my brother-in-law Francis was playing "Chelsa Dagger" from his Impala. Missed the rally cause I was on a flight, got home watch the game, (Kane and Niemi reactions act the end of the game were friggin' hilarious, at least to me while still on a major buzz) enjoy the outcome, then crashed into bed early Saturday. Through all the black eyes, bruised ribs (remember don't play pond hockey with canadians), and the booze drinking, it's been a good week. As for the Red Wings? Them be morons. For so many years the Hawks were a punching bag, a joke in their eyes, watching proclaim this and that about the Hawks, is nothing but music to my ears.
  21. That might be the case, but their actions (re: the recruitment of Nebraska and Notre Dame) speaks very loudly. Don't get me wrong, but bring alot to the conference, but if Big 10 "didn't need to do a damn thing" then why are they? Don't say money cause that is painfully obvious.
  22. So who is the most likely candidate for the SEC to pull over along with A&M? If texas pulls a fast one and goes to the Big 10, I expect OU to join us. If not, I'd guess the SEC makes a run at Virginia Tech. It would make sense that it would be Virginia Tech. Clemson, GA Tech( I hope the SEC never offers GA Tech) Florida State and Miami are not need teams for the SEC, cause the conference has their foot on those markets already. No need to bring in redundant schools. The SEC doesn't need to get to 16 teams like Pac 10 or Big 10, so the SEC doesn't need to take 4 teams and make it 16 teams. I will be more then happy with just A&M (Gene Stallings is really pushing A&M to the SEC, btw) and Virginia Tech joining the conference and call it a day. Now if Virginia Tech declines the SEC, then FSU would be my second choice.
