  1. How can you keep players on your next year roster though? Do you just make a vow to not draft each others keepers? We run a live draft and undoubdtedly there's always a few people who miss it and run off pre-drafts and have no control over their picks at some point
  2. Year in and year out my friends have a Yahoo Fantasy Baseball league. I'm one of the few who take it seriously and would like to make it a pay league but no one else wants to. What I'd still like to do though is have at the very least a keeeper league (although a Dynasty League would be my preference) Basically what I'm asking is... 1) Does Yahoo offer keeper leagues? 2) If not, what other sites offer keeper leagues? 3) Do they cost extra? 4) Which one is typically considered the best to use? Thanks
  3. The truth hurts. Which is why the O's should fire back with "We didn't resign him because he sucks"
  4. And I'm interested in Angelina Jolie. And I have about the same chances of acquiring her as the Cubs do of acquiring Peavy. Maybe it's time to adopt an impoverished African baby to get on her good side. Step 2 is getting starring roles in awesome movies for the next 10-15 years and you're in!
  5. Yeah, I was about to say something about that too. Makes me even more embarrassed that a complete idiot just dominated the Cards defense that final drive. THE Ohio State
  6. You guys see the game? I was AT IT. Effin Roethli... Roethlisberger the quarterback was all effin... hug it, chug it, FOOTBALL! ALL NIGHT!!
  7. If you need a fix, then yeah. You'll just miss out on any players who showed up between then and now, and you get to toy with players who aren't as good now as they were then. I'm sure Derrek Lee is a god amongst men in that game. In 09 he's slightly above average. It's free though, and that's always good. It will tide you over before 2010 comes out later this year
  8. I know the law states that since he lied to a grand jury under oath he must then be sent to jail for perjury, but sending someone to prison away from his family for lying about using steroids is stupid. I understand baseball is America's most revered sport and the records he set/broke are tainted and the integrity of the game and blah blah blah blah... It's a game. Kids play it. And now we're sending people to jail over it. The public humiliation and exile from the hall of fame and/or sport should be enough punishment. Jail time is unnecessary and a waste of money for this crap
  9. Goes to show you how much I follow Orioles baseball. Whoops
  10. Maybe Leo Mazzone can prove his worth and make him good instead of pretending he's the best by riding on the coat tails of incredible natural talent.
  11. Huh. Obviously he's got some power and a little speed but that appears to be about it. Career minor leaguer then?
  12. Wasn't the other one to like 60 something? It was over 100 I believe. It was just under 100. Like 97 or something. Unless this trade rumor picks up steam it might fall just short if you combine the two. But there was another thread that discussed Peavy and other potential acquisitions at the time like Bradley that was 20+ pages I believe if you choose to include that
  13. Brad Snyder is awesome. 56 is my number of choice. Now... who the hell is Brad Snyder?
  14. I'm not certain, but about 350 seems about right. Then again so does 450. Not exactly sure. I would venture to guess this thread probably would've surpassed it had the old one not been locked. And had all Peavy talk been sectioned off to one thread.
  15. Stellar journalism. Glad to hear we're not looking into Jeff Peavy.
  16. I kind of want him for the sole purpose of seeing the crazy Cardinals fan go bat s*** crazy
  17. No, and I don't for one second believe 1) it 2) it means Peavy is as good as a Cub like the anonymous poster is tying to lead people into believing
  18. That would probably be best. As far as gameplay in 09 is concerned, they do have a draft and scouting, but it's not that impressive. The scouting management in The Show is better, to be honest, because it's more in depth. In Mogul all you do is set a budget for scouting and be done with it. Scouting scores only show up in the draft, which is just a window with names and categories next to them. But the thing I love about it is the stat tracking. There's truckloads of stats to choose from on the leaderboards and if you output the encylopedia then you can have a historical representation of every major league record and stats for almost every major league player in history, including the fake ones that show up after 2008. It's great. If you're a stat head, the game is great, if you're into scouting and the draft and looking for deep management involving that, you won't be impressed. The game is addicting though, and very very fun
  19. You guys are telling me that a computer game revolved around clicking on menus required you to change your entire video card? WTF is that S about? Get Baseball Mogul and be done with it
  20. I watched it, it wasn't that special. All it did was talk about the history that we already know, showed some places around Chicago, mainly Harry Carays and the Billy Goat Tavern, and then it showed some places in the ballpark like the bleachers, the rooftops, scoreboard, press boxes, and the surrounding streets. It wasn't very entertaining, it showed everything that we as Cubs fans know all too much about already. It was more of a "Wrigley Field For Dummies" approach. "Oh Harry Caray sang the 7th inning stretch every game? Amazing!"
  21. Leave it to 2KSports to figure out how to successfully ruin a game where the only thing you have to do is navigate through menus. An amateur programmer who picked up a Dummies book from Barnes and Nobel should be able to create a game where all you do is click buttons, yet the geniuses at 2K couldn't figure out how to do that it seems
  22. initial reviews say it's terrible
  23. Sucks for Joba. Overrated, but still pretty darned good. I don't understand the mystique surrounding Andy Pettite, he's an absolutely terrible decision for the Yankees. If I were a Yankees fan and this signing moves Joba to the bullpen I'd be livid.
  24. I think the same can be said for the Twins, except if things go right for the Twins they'll be pretty tough to beat. Those things include 1) whether or not Liriano will stay as good as he was at the end of the year 2) if Delmon Young will develop into even a fraction of the potential he had in Tampa 3) if Denard Span's season wasn't a fluke and he actually turns out to be a solid leadoff guy who can draw 70+ walks out of the lineup spot and hit for solid average 4) Their other young pitchers like Slowey, Blackburn, and Perkins continue to develop to only get better and 5) combined that with healthy seasons from Morneau, Mauer, and Cuddyer, and the Twins could be really really tough
