  1. One step closer to becoming a Twins fan this season. Thanks Lou
  2. I honestly would've liked to see that
  3. The give and take between my brother and I via text message regarding this game: Him: Do we have anyone in the minors who is a closer? Me: I don't know about closers, but we have good relievers. What happened now? Him: Marmol blew it. Lost in 10 innings Me: Isn't that the first run he's given up all year? Settle down Francis, we need better middle relievers our closer is fine Him: Uh no. Nice try. Bullpen and closer suck If you imagine him talking like a dumb jock with a breathing problem, that's pretty much how I impersonate him. The typical overreacting meathead Cubs fan. 2 weeks in and Marmol gives up his first run and he's calling for a new closer. I kinda hate my brother. This is the same guy who thought the Alex Cintron signing was sweet because he would always pick him up off the FA list on MVP 04 and he would be good.
  4. If I were a betting man, I'd put money on Jerry Manuel going first
  5. The Yankees/Red Sox rivalry continues
  6. What was more responsible for Derrek Lee's home run... his pure hitting skill or his sweet sweet derrier?
  7. I'd pass. FWIW, Kershaw was a little lucky last year. His xFIP was 3.90. While he's going to be real good real soon, Upton is already real good and as was noted, is going to be a top fantasy player for years to come, starting as soon as this year. Yourp itching is already really heavy on young talented upside. You don't need Kershaw as much as you need Upton. Plus, you could probably trade Upton for way more than Kershaw and Lee if it came to that
  8. The Cubs should fire Rudy Jaramillo. He's clearly at fault
  9. Don't be so illogical, he doesn't make near enough money
  10. You can watch his game live for free on ESPN 360 (or ESPN3 as its now known) http://espn.go.com/espn3/player?id=3283
  11. Gotcha. Just saw the 1 post and figured you were new to the forum and just signed up without glossing over the particulars. No worries
  12. Is that such a bad thing?
  13. Why would you take that over Longoria/Carpenter?? He traded away Carp, so I forced him to throw in Jurrjens and Jiminez. The trade got vetoed anyway. My league decided that no one is gonna trade players anymore after Martin, Jeter, and Rivera for Erick Aybar, Pierzynski and Peavy didn't pass. I understand the reasoning behind vetoing trades if someone is just dumping players for the sake of dumping them because he's out of it and doesn't care, but if there's some obvious logic in the trades it's really ridiculous for someone to veto them. If both the teams involved agree to them and they look reasonable and logical no one else should care unless it's absurdly lopsided.
  14. Since I'm in this league and I know the rules and scoring system that's in place, if I were Team B I would turn this down with the quickness
  15. On opening day I was more excited to see Jason Heyward play than I was to watch the Cubs play. Sad. Until they prove that they are a team to contend with then I might get excited. I'll still root for them obviously, but I'm not holding my breath for a championship season.
  16. Just got this e-mail: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd256/gallow737/turf.png This seems pretty cool, yet utterly ridiculous at the same time. I think I kinda want it, but it seems like something they would only sell in the Chicagoland area. I'm sure it's probably no different than basic Scotts Turf stuff, though. Just a way to mark up the same product and get suckers like me to buy it
  17. Ortiz is already getting grilled by the media for going hitless in the first two games of the season. Apparently he didn't take too kindly to that. Can't say I blame him, the media is stupid
  18. Eh, I don't know. I was lazy when looking up his numbers, based it on ERA. That and I don't like Josh Beckett and I wanted to find a reason to hate his stupid face. That comment was based on hate, not fact.
  19. Team Triple Bypass C Jason Kendall 1B Casey Kotchman 2B David Eckstein 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff SS Alex Gonzalez LF Melky Cabrera CF Carlos Gomez RF Travis Buck P Felipe Paulino P Carlos Silva
  20. Was just going to post this one, but since there are so many good quotes throughout the season I figured why not start a thread...
  21. You're a little late to the party, honcho. Have 6 today.. Unless Mauer decides he wants to help a brother out
  22. It's because he lost weight and is keeping his cool. Each year he loses weight and proclaims he's gonna keep his cool, and each year he sucks to begin and then turns back into grumpy, fat Z and pitches like he normally does.
  23. Not a bad chunk of change for being consistently inconsistent
  24. If you put any faith into the Dollars/Salary statistic on FanGraphs, then Kosuke has been making pretty much exactly what he's worth
