  1. Alex Gordon really needs to stop sucking so much. They also need to stop blocking Kila Ka'aihue and let him play on the big club
  2. Would I offer it? Yes. Would I accept if I was on the other side? No. Tulo > Kinsler IMO because as you said Kinsler is an injury risk and also Tulo plays the tougher offensive position, not to mention Tulo is a much better all around offensive player. Jeter vs. Cano? Sure, Jeter might still have another big season or two in him, but Cano is going to benefit more from Yankee stadium in the long run than Jeter will. I'm assuming this is a keeper league. I'd rather have Tulo and Cano than Kinsler and Jeter. Though it's not that bad of an offer, and you might be able to do some convincing and haggling to make it work
  3. ESPN recently put up a Top pitchers in the draft class preview, with some scouting reports on each guy. Here's the link... http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/blog?name=mlb_draft&id=5052589 Can't put it all, but I'll put the list:
  4. The first thing I thought when I saw this was that perhaps they're doing this as posturing to bring Chris Carter up to the big club sooner rather than later. Carter can probably draw a walk as good as Cust (who can do it better than the majority of all MLB players) and he was blocked by Cust at DH (and Barton at 1B), whereas Jake Fox is easily expendable for when Carter is ready. Moving Fox to the bench is a lot easier to do than a guy who can draw 100 walks a year if he gets the AB's. Having Cust's elite patience riding the pine would be pointless. I think this has more to do with Carter than Fox.
  5. It has no place on this list, and I know that in the grand scheme of things it was just a typical regular season game in the middle of the year, but I'll never forget the Aramis walk-off against the Brewers in '07 that helped spark a mid-season comeback trail to win the division. That memory will never go away
  6. Now he's calling for an expansion of protective netting... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2010/news/story?id=5047817 I understand that a freak occurrence happened to his mother and all, but if that line drive hit some random guy who didn't get seriously injured by it, which happens more often than someone getting seriously injured, he wouldn't be making a big deal out of it. Not that I'm against the idea, but the guy is obviously stirred up by what happened and I think he's overreacting a bit. He doesn't hit that foul ball, people move on with their lives and this isn't a story

  8. I know it all seems ludicrous that someone could injure themselves doing something menial, but sometimes ish happens. I've strained my back several times doing everyday normal things like leaning over the sink to spit after brushing my teeth, getting out of my car, leaning over to put on my shoes, etc... but I've never strained my back doing heavy lifting, or playing any sports Life is weird that way
  9. Or Koyie Hill, for cutting his own finger off with a table saw
  10. I'm 100% for the transition into a dynasty league. I'm already in two and I'm thinking of starting up a fresh one with some friends for a 3rd. After doing a dynasty league I prefer nothing else. I think if we do transition it obviously wouldn't take place until next year at the earliest. Dynasty drafts are far more strategic, it would be unfair to do it with this years rosters, so much so that I don't even think there was any question that it would be the case if we would. I'm all for an up to 15 minor leaguers. I know 10 seems like plenty to some, but I'm still clamoring for more at this point, trying to make room to accommodate more guys. But yeah, Dynasty leagues are the ish. The way the leagues I'm currently in are setup is we have our teams that we draft, plus minor leaguers and those are the cards you're dealt until the next season when we have a 3-round prospect draft to be able to draft all the players that were drafted in the amateur draft the year before and/or other breakout prospects who are still available. The team you draft is the team you keep, there's no MLB cap or keeper points involved. If you draft Pujols or Hanley, you have him for as long as you want him I just love the idea that your team is only gonna get better if you make smart draft moves, good free agent/prospect pickups, and solid trades, and with the amount of trades we make in this league it would be highly active
  11. Every time I saw or heard the Cubs bring Kevin Hart into the game I knew there was a good chance of it being game over... for the Cubs
  12. Group A: Albert Pujols Group B: Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez Group C: Joe Mauer, Justin Upton, Joey Votto Group D: David Wright, Josh Hamilton, Grady Sizemore, Travis Hafner, Kyle Blanks WC being PM'd

  14. He's just delicate... like a blossoming flower
  15. Old topic, but it has been a year since they signed them and there was a nice little write up on the two players here: http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/pirates/s_672684.html http://files.pittsburghlive.com/photos/2010-03-20/0321spindia-a.jpg It's really interesting to know that these guys are showing some signs of success after only playing the game for one year. I hope they continue to be more succesful and MLB starts to scout India and try and introduce the game more over there. It never hurts to expand
  16. Sent down to Double A today... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2010/news/story?id=5012625 I'm not shocked they sent him to the minors, but sending him to AA and not AAA was a little bit surprising.
  17. That's a pythag record of 94-68. Ouch. Oh crap, did I put 634? I meant 734... [expletive] typo!!!!!! Changed

  19. I'm confused as to what Washington did wrong by admitting to it before the tests came in? My pathetic attempt at humor was targeted more toward Rangers brass for buying into the fact that they believe this to be a one time only usage and not something he was probably doing for months on end on and off
  20. I didn't read your whole post, but if you are seriously saying that the Cubs could acquire Lars Anderson for Ryan Theriot, you are either seriously underrating Epstein or overrating Hendry. That is not happening. The Red Sox value actual talent, not mediocre defenders/on base percentage guys. I know Lars Anderson is a big prospect name, but his stock dropped significantly this past season, so much so that some scouts/analysts rank him as the 2nd best 1B prospect the Red Sox have behind Anthony Rizzo now. While I agree that an offer of Theriot/Fontenot, and Colvin and a random bullpen arm won't get the job done, I don't think Anderson is as unattainable as he once was.
  21. I like how he apparently offered to resign right after taking the test... so the results weren't even processed yet and he admitted to it, and then the Rangers brass believes it was a one time thing? "Hey I just got tested, and I just wanna tell you it's gonna turn up positive for cocaine." "How do you know? The results haven't come back yet." "Well, I just so happened to have snorted some the other day" "But it was just once right?" "Yeah, sure" "Okay, we believe you, Mr. Pleading-guilty-before-being-convicted" If you can randomly test someone at any given point during the season and they immediately admit to it, chances are it wasn't a one time thing. Rangers are just playing dumb and being nice.
