  1. late night out before one of his starts and it created a lot of friction with a member of the tennessee coaching staff. most people seem to be of the opinion that it was an isolated incident and not a pattern of poor behavior by him. And that was in Mobile, AL. And he and someone else (forgot who) were at a bar called The Garage, and they were hitting on one of my friends who didn't believe that they were baseball players, lol EDIT: Now I remember, the other guy was David Patton
  2. How very selfless of Fox to give up time slots on their dynamite Saturday night broadcast schedule. I'm sure fans of Cops are going to be very disappointed that they'll have to endure baseball two times during their season run
  3. It's a sad state of affairs in a baseball players life when posting a .758 OPS is considered a flukishly good year
  4. Obviously Castro is a given. So besides him, I'd like to see Hak-Ju Lee continue the success he had last year at a higher level. To know that we might have another Castro like success story scorching through the system that could be on the other side of the bag is a pretty awesome thing to have on the farm
  5. That's one hell of a 3B platoon
  6. If Bedard is healthy and fully effective that's a hell of a 1-2-3 at the top of the rotation, but that's a big if
  7. Looks like they've expanded upon it. There was an article earlier last year about it, but it didn't look anything like that. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/10/sports/baseball/10cameras.html If this thing is as close as it seems to be readily available as it seems it could really be an exciting change for the game, maybe a more sobering one for some players who have a big reputation for defense who might actually be more average than people are lead to believe. in the NYT article there's a video sample of how the system would look and work (at least what it would look like back when that article was written)
  8. there goes Hendry overpaying for relievers again
  9. 10 of his 35 games he reached 120+ pitches or more. 19 of his 35 games he reached 115+ pitches or more 24 of his 35 games he reached 110+ pitches or more 30 of his 35 games he reached 100+ pitches or more In the month of September he threw 126, 112, 104, 128, 126, 129, and 120 pitches. His gamelog from this past season looks like something taken from Mark Priors 2003 gamelog
  10. http://www.wdsu.com/sports/22369983/detail.html party in the city where.. you can't get your drink on.. sober at the beach until the break of dawn..
  11. IIRC correctly we offered him the same contract San Diego offered him and he chose San Diego because he also wanted out of Chicago to be closer to home
  12. Just sent via PayPal
  13. My brother demanded a Mark Prior autographed jersey back just before he got traded (or did he let go? Don't remember, that's how insignificant that whole situation has turned out to be). Cost me $130 or so on Ebay. Money well spent. He's still convinced that Mark Prior will return to the Cubs and dominate because "he's [expletive] sweet". I think it's only because he wants that jersey not to be embarrassingly worthless
  14. There was just too much prospect stuff on ESPN Insider that I wanted to read so I bit the bullet and got and paid for the month. Law listed Hak-ju Lee (or Lee Hak-Ju, whatever floats your boat) as our team's 2011 sleeper prospect that should make strides in 2010. He doesn't say much scouty type stuff, but here it is fwiw...
  15. He didn't do organizational Top 10's. Only Top 100 prospects and Top Farm System Rankings. At least so far, don't think he's doing a Top 10 organizational rankings list
  16. And today Keith Law posted his Top 100 prospects to insider... http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insider/columns/story?columnist=law_keith&id=4856310&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fmlb%2finsider%2fcolumns%2fstory%3fcolumnist%3dlaw_keith%26id%3d4856310 Also, the good thing to come out of that first paragraph is this Chuck Norris facts knock off website.... http://www.mattwietersfacts.com/ :-)) I'm sure people have known about that website but I just found it, and it's awesome. P.S. where do Castro, Vitters and/or Cashner rank on the Top 100? Anyone with insider?
  17. Keith Law posted the organizational rankings, but I don't have Insider so I don't know where the Cubs ranked. Anyone? http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insider/columns/story?columnist=law_keith&id=4861174
  18. Seems like the Cubs have been linked to all the remaining FA pitchers out there lately. Sounds like journalists just tossing in a big market team because most people will buy it as fact
  19. I think Bill James projected him to strike out 658 batters this year
  20. He also wanting a 4-5 year deal last offseason, coming off of wrist surgery. Now he was pretty much completely healthy this last year so he could still be asking for a 3-4 year deal as well. He's also a Type A free agent
  21. Mother effer. In one of my dynasty leagues he was my latest minor league pickup
  22. http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd256/gallow737/Simtorre.jpg Old, but funny
  23. They resisted budging from a one year offer? I call shenanigans
