  1. Big article on ESPN right now about him leaving, written by... well, him. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=gammons_peter&id=4734773
  2. WHAT THE WHAT!?!?!? Sorry Benji, maybe a $12 million team option for the 2nd year based on performance in the first, but per year? GFY, Ben.
  3. Has Tim Brown been remotely close on any of his "scoops"? He's pretty good in Tecmo Bowl
  4. I mean the yearly salary he'd make is there, and is right in line with his production (about $16 million a year), but for some reason I don't see Jason Bay signing anywhere unless it's for a minimum of 5 years and somewhere in the range of $90-$110 million
  5. This is bad news. The last time Z lost weight and started acting pleasant to start a season he gave up 22 runs and walked 19 in his first 34IP
  6. Dumb move by the Astros... Lyon wanted 2/9, which would come out to $4.5 mil, instead the Disastros are giving him $5. He's not a lock to repeat his success, as was evident by his 2008 season
  7. Maybe this will clear it up for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqHNPFa_TmQ&feature=PlayList&p=15BCF76A6CDEAE6A&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=19
  8. I would reject that with the swiftness of a thousand cheetahs
  9. .462OPS? BUST!!!!!!!!! Quick, trade him for Granders..... ahhhhh damnit!
  10. why are they upset with him? Because he's not Matt Holliday. I don't think they are. Swisher was good for them this year, excluding the playoffs where his bad performance mattered not. He provided slightly below league average defense and very good offense for them hitting in a low spot of the lineup. He's only due $6.75 million next year, they have absolutely no reason to trade him. And if they did, they wouldn't trade him for Bradley, he's far more valuable than he is at this point.
  11. Well it seems Dave Duncan fixed him, sort of, but I wouldn't touch him. He's probably going to command a lot. This was a contract year and it also happened to be his best performance since 2002. He'd cost too much... plus we really don't need him that much. I'd have no qualms about putting Gorzelanny in the 5th spot, he'd probably put up comparable numbers
  12. All this talk about not seeing Cashner pitch and determining whether he's good or not reminded me that I had posted a video of one of Cashner's games from when he played against the BayBears in the minor league forums, but it probably got buried and ignored. If anyone wants to see a complete, random, Andrew Cashner pitching performance from 7.29.09, here you go: http://rapidshare.com/files/262604644/Cash7-29-09.rar His line that game: 5.0IP 1R 0ER 3H 4K 4BB You only get the center field camera though, but this contains each and every one of his pitches from the game... I think it may even include his batting performances as well
  13. I don't think it's so much quotes from him as much as it is the obvious way he manages a game. Or mismanages one, whichever you prefer
  14. Baltimore actually has the pieces to be an extremely good team for a long long time. Maybe not next year, but definitely for years to come... Weiters, Markakis, Jones, Matusz, Arrieta, Tillman, just to name their young players and up-and-comers. Baltimore might not be a bad place for good players to want to settle down for the next 5 years or so if they're interested in winning
  15. He'd be Milton Bradley without the plate discipline. No. You mean offensively or all around, including attitude, because I'm pretty sure Delmon Young isn't the menace he was made out to be when he was in the Tampa farm system anymore. I hate to put so much stock in a guy we haven't been able to see any results from yet, but I wonder if Jaramillo could help Delmon out with his offensive disappointments
  16. I'd take Scherzer/Schlereth/Jackson over Bucholz/Ellsbury 8 days a week if I'm being honest. I think Buchholz and Ellsbury's repitations are benefiting from being large market darlings.
  17. If that rumor is true, the Marlins are idiots. I'd do Johnson for Feliz straight up. Why would you want to commit to spending big dollars on a 25 year old pitcher who was healthy for the first time in 3 years instead of having a guy under your control for a LONG time who is 4 years younger and probably going to end up being 10 times better and is already primed to start in the majors next year? There's no way that's true, Feliz was probably the best pitching prospect in baseball this year. Smoak isn't exactly crap either. Why would they turn both those players down for one guy who is about to cost a lot of money and has yet to show any signs of continued consistency, health wise?
  18. Absolutely. It'd be interesting to see how he responds to Jaramillo's instruction as well
  19. That's only on his Wikipedia because I put it there in hopes of causing a ruckus on here.
  20. They've taken Peter Gammons AND Bob Costas away from their primary networks. MLB Network rules. Now all they gotta do is get rid of Mitch Williams and/or 12 of the other player analysts
  21. Schlereth is a top Dbacks prospect. He had some armn/shoulder related issues this past season in AA IIRC. Only thing I really know about him though is that when I was transferring video to the BayBears coaches computers he was discussing in the other room whether or not he should spend a million dollars on his house. Hard hitting facts. Other than that though he's supposed to be a good hard throwing reliever. Tigers got a good return for those two.
  22. Rafael Soriano accepted salary arbitration from the Braves... so now they've got Soriano back to set up Wagner. That's a nice combo
