I know odorizzis name had come up here a few times and most people were against the idea, but if I recall it was mostly because they didn't want to give up what they assumed Tampa would want for him, which was probably way more than what he was worth. But I don't think anything here would've been opposed to acquiring him for one prospect at the back end of our top 30.

It's a really easy stat to understand. WAR and FIP and some other metrics are harder to decipher and understand especially for old school types not named Peter Gammons. WHIP = WAR + FIP. Obviously.

Well yeah, Schwarber is going to be so bad in the least important defensive position that he's going to bring down the above average defense we have at C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, CF, and RF. That's just horsefeathering science.

I really wish I could say Rizzo, but he may only have a shot if he can remain consistent into his mid-late 30's which is a long shot for most players these days, though he could get a lot of votes because of his leadership qualities, personality, and off-the-field philanthropic deeds. I know Derek Jeter was "The Captain" but now that he's gone I think Rizzo best personifies that term of endearment more than anyone else in baseball.

Yeah, but I thought the line in the sand regarding pitchers was no contracts longer than 5 years? Unless I'm off by a year. But even then they broke that rule with Lester so they're obviously willing to ignore it for the right guy.
