  2. Apparently injured his back taking off his pants. This has, and will probably continue to lead, to "humorous" hot takes about his injury. That being said, I've had recurring lower back injuries from doing the following: - Picking up a softball - Getting in my car - Leaning over the sink to rinse my mouth out after brushing - Getting OUT of my car - Standing up from a sitting position (this one actually slipped a disc in my back) So, I feel his pain and humiliation and understand that sometimes horsefeathers happens.
  3. When I did this transaction it was one month into the season and Gattis had 1 home run. He's now one of the top HR hitters for his group. What an horsefeathers So you're saying you did not learn your lesson... :-k In my defense, I was accurate in my assessment at the time

  5. If he just now found his hands then what the hell has he been pissing on for the last two years!?!
  6. It's Chien-Ming Wang all over again! Ban the pitcher from hitting! Side note: This made me google Chien-Ming Wang and holy crap, he had a 3.1 K/9 ratio when he was the runner-up for the Cy Young in 2006. 218 IP, 76K's. I know he was a groundball pitcher, but cripes.
  7. Drop Ryan Braun Add Jesus Aguilar
  8. It was only a matter of time
  9. In case anyone wanted to read a 1400+ word fluff piece from Jesse Rogers on why Tommy La Stella is the best pinch hitter in baseball, here you go http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23673207/how-baseball-best-pinch-hitter-delivers-bench
  10. Being loveable came with the caveat of being losers, Jim. We're done with that horsefeathers.
  11. Maybe at not getting laid http://i.imgur.com/ym3cPQd.gif
  12. Somehow Jason Heyward: Somehow Somehow SOMEHOW FOR CHRISTS SAKE SOMEHOW
  13. Ahh, I thought this was in reference to when he gunned down a runner at home the other day. Point still stands, though.
  14. Yeeeaaaaah, I think you're out on this limb on your own. It was a fairly simple play. Ball hit in outfield -> Kyle fields ball cleanly -> Kyle throws ball accurately -> Runner is out at home. If we're going to chock up Almora's highlight reel catches to skill, we can't chock up Kyle's routine plays to luck. Let's just get over the fact that he's not fat anymore and accept that he has a lot more athleticism than he used to and it's paying off
  15. That Morrow bit was good
  16. This really is a ridiculous lame ass move by MLB https://www.instagram.com/p/Bir1712gsW_/ Edit: kudos on the ridiculous word filter, mods.
  17. I learned my lesson from years past by not panicking on players having slow starts. It's paying off, but I can't tolerate garbage. Drop Evan Gattis Add Mitch Haniger
  18. Considering TT posted it I'm assuming I'm missing a joke or the context of this statement, but...... What? Machado has a career .820 OPS against RHP. This year his OPS vs. RHP is 1.057 TLS career vs. RHP is .705 and this year he's at .713 Also, Machado, in nearly the same amount of playing time, has accrued just 2.7 fewer fWAR than Harper. Oh, and he's at 1.8 fWAR (like 9th in the majors) while Harper is at 1.0 right now (like 50th or something). I think we are all underselling how good Machado is just because we all really really really want Bryce Harper instead. Getting Machado would not be a bad thing. He's really horsefeathering good and to pretend he's not is just foolish. P.S. fWAR seasons at 5.0 or higher: Machado: 3 Harper: 1 (more or less 2 with a 4.9 season) P.P.S. I'd still rather have Harper.
  19. But Doug Flynn is the answer you're looking for. Flynn has the lowest fWAR with -8.3 of anyp layer with over 1000 games played (1300+ for Flynn). The only players worse: Gus Weyhing with -10.2 (in the 1800s, but he also was a pitcher who had 40 fWAR as a pitcher+ so he doesn't count, plus he was only a hitter in 500+ games) and Bill Bergen with -16.2 fWAR (1900-1911. 947 games played) Flynn played from 1975-1985, so in the non dead-ball era (and even most of the dead ball era), he's probably pound for pound the worst player to get the most playing time ever. In fact, the next player with a negative fWAR and more games played than Flynn is former Cubs legend Jerry Morales with -3.9 fWAR. He played from 1969-1983 and played in 1441 games. The third player on that list with more games played than Flynn and a negative WAR? Neifi Perez.
  20. Chris Gomez with 1515 games. This is bWAR. Don’t know if fWAR is different. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gomezch02.shtml Chris Gomez has -2.2 fWAR. Gutierrez has -3.1 fWAR. You know who has -3.3 fWAR? Neifi Perez
  21. But then Kris could reinvented a cleaner version of the term "slumpbuster." "Could really go for one of those Trouble Solvers right about now, you guys"
  22. One of my classmates apparently dated that dude. Cool story, I know.
