  1. If they're punting 2018 I don't think they should care. Gouge one of your opponents of their prospects and then let them pay a fortune to sign him the following offseason. At least you make your opponents give you something significantly valuable instead of potentially giving that value to someone else and just getting him for money a year later.
  2. Hendricks also lives in the LA area, so it might have just been a proximity thing. Hendricks is in Chicago this winter, he works out at my gym. He's actually a really nice guy.
  3. So do people think JBJ's 5.0 fWAR season in 2016 was an aberration or something and he'll never do that again?
  4. Lol. Finally rid themselves of a notoriously stingy and shitty owner prone to spontaneous fire sales. New owners immediately have a fire sale. Badluckbrian.jpg
  5. That statement is a Heyman-level nothingburger.
  6. Now that this information is out there, ESPN is running with this article:
  7. Rafael Palmiero says he wants to make a comeback at the age of 53. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/21693459/rafael-palmeiro-53-wants-make-back-mlb
  8. I want to put a big "GIAN" on the hood of my car, that way whenever I drive by people on the street, they can say "Look at that Gian car go!"
  9. I get it with Salazar, but he's a beast when healthy and is probably the most talented pitcher they can get in a Happ led trade. He has 3 years control remaining. Even if they get Ohtani, they still have a bit of a surplus with position players and a need for good pitchers. Especially with Ohtani probably facing an inning limit this year. With Duensing I was just trying to think of a lefty that might sign a 1 year deal. I figure Duke or Logan, if we take a one year lefty. Not a southpaw, sorry. Can't speak for Duke, though.
  10. Not sure how or if erections will win him over, but whatever works.
  11. Yeah when your DH competition in Seattle is Nelson Cruz, you won't get to hit often unless they want him to take AB's away from their position players. Unlike the NL when pitchers are required to hit, and they use pinch hitters all the time and the Cubs never shied away from using a pitcher to pinch hit if they can swing the bat decently enough.
  12. No, he'll need to accrue 6 years of service time to be a free agent. Whoever he signs with will have him through 2023. Weird, not sure why I had this assumption.
  13. I know whoever gets them puts them in the front-runner position for the long term, but it will pretty much only be a one year deal no matter who he signs with because of the spending limits, right? Then he goes off into free agency?
  14. I seem to recall Cardinal fans saying they'd rather have Diaz than Russell. That makes me laugh.
  15. Take this with a boulder of salt, but it's slow so and I'm bored whatever... Some rando on Reddit who claims he has a friend who works for the org says Cobb is signing with the Cubs this week. 4 years around $60-$63 mil.

  17. I agree that it is kind of messed up his posting team (Ham Fighters) will get a nice $20 million while the most he can get is roughly $3.5 million this offseason. It’s just the Fighters. Nippon-Ham is the company that sponsors/owns them. False. Not because you're wrong, but because I insist that you should be.
  18. Isn't there someone around here who still has Jay Jackson as their avatar?
  19. He gave a speech that the majority of the team credit with boosting their morale so much it assisted in turning the course of Game 7 in their favor and they won a World Series. Let him have his money.
  20. The new market inefficiency is having a coach specifically to argue calls and get tossed so the manager doesn't have to.
  21. I don't have a very exciting life, no need to be a dick about it. It was directed at Fontenot. Well, neither does he.
  22. Any chance the D-Backs shop Archie Bradley? He dominated in the pen this year so they don't really have a reason to, but he'd be a nice addition.
