  1. From Jon Heyman's SI column:
  2. FYI the speed limit on French motorways is just under 81 mph (130 km/h to be exact)
  3. So just non-tender Hill and hire Quade as manager. Sounds fine to me.
  4. Actually, Dempster might just be smart enough to realize what needs to be done.
  5. I was just reading that. Very funny they botched something as simple as that. If you're going to play golf in the UK in October, that should actually be top of your list.
  6. *L* Fondue sets.......really Are you saying you only do cheese or chocolate fondues? 8-)
  7. I'm confused. Cars? Frying pans? Fondue sets? Lamps?
  8. rhino? A rhinoceros wouldn't be a bad idea. You need a thick skin to deal with the media in this job.
  9. Feels weird to have a Cubs game end while I'm having breakfast, but I'll take the win. 8-)
  10. Well, now there's a a Businessweek article on the "probably" lower player payroll.
  11. As per Carrie Muskat. More Hill ... :banghead:
  12. At least we're still getting quality from Bruce amongst all the garbage out there.
  13. You could go to the 2011 draft thread in the minor league forum to suggest the Cubs draft Gunter Barton and Thor Meeks That explains why the Cubs signed 16yr old Italian catcher Alberto Mineo last month.
  14. That is probably true for any sport.
  15. I know it's wishful thinking, but when I read that I automatically put the word "general" in to the sentence.
  16. Longer term (i.e. 3 to 4 years down the road), I think Aramis opting out may actually be a good thing for the Cubs, as I believe it would force them to the "rebuild from scratch" route. Of course 2011 could end up being a complete disaster, but that might happen even if he stays.
  17. Molina is still playing (or was that draft too long ago?) ETA: Jorgenson also reached the majors
  18. I agree Archer is a no-brainer, but after that I think the Cubs will be more inclined to protect pitchers over position players if they feel players are at risk, if only because it's relatively easy to hide an additional pitcher at the back of the bullpen, even to the point where it gets silly (see Patton D.) So in order I'd say Archer, Cabrera, Chirinos, then any others. There is zero chance Maestri gets protected. Frankly, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he gets cut.
  19. At the rate they're curently going, they could even end up in the top half of the division. Completely unacceptable.
  20. lol @ France. That team is in so much trouble ...
  21. is that all the time or just when the big club is horrendous? All the time.
  22. Much appreciated indeed. This is the first part of the forum I read when I log in.
  23. Beasley moves from Glasgow Rangers to Hannover 96, where he joins Cherundolo.
  24. Mascherano to Barca for 23 million euro is a done deal (pending a physical, of course) He signed a four year contract with them.
