    Nothing significant in the race to sign IFA's before the new rules kick in, but it's a familiar name: Ugueth Urbina Jr. (16 yr old RHP, son of ...) was signed by the Mariners organization last October according to the blog of the Catalan baseball federation. The other 16yr old RHP mentioned, Luis Felipe Castillo, signed for an 80k bonus with the Diamondbacks.

    I was just kidding. Actually, with Gent, his Norwegian will be more useful as they currently have a Norwegian head coach (who plays a system that will suit his technical skills quite well)

    It's a loan agreement with Stabaek, with an option for a permanent transfer. BTW, I watched part of the pc, and that guy doesn't "sound" very American :wink: I'll keep you posted on how he does over here.

    Actually, if you can't get in to one of the big spending leagues, Eastern Europe is where the money is. Virtually unknown teams in Eastern Europe who have very rich owners ( like Azhi Makashkala and Terek Grozni in the Russian premier league) have recently been luring away players from smaller leagues and as well as aging stars like Roberto Carlos and Samuel Eto'o.

    I'll leave the correct answer to the native Spanish speakers (and I'm curious as well), but my guess would be something like "io-ènnis" (as I suspect the name to be a derivative of the Germanic "Johannes")

    I'm sure Yoennes will get use to whatever way Cubs fans will pronounce his name. :wink: As to the discussion: keep in mind that there are almost as many variants of Spanish pronunciation in the world as there are of English. Maybe some NSBB poster can simply ask him what the proper way is later this year in Mesa. 8-)

    I doubt Deuce moves his family out of London. For me it's either Arsenal or he stays at Fulham. As a sports fan used to North American sports, it still boggles my mind that London can support 5 (!!) soccer teams playing in the same league. It's actually potentially more than that. Charlton and West Ham are in London, and have been in the Premiership pretty recently. London is a massive city, though. Millwall never get any love :( There are actually 14 professional soccer teams in London (professional = playing in the Premiership or the Football league)

    Some reporters should phrase their headlines more carefully. I nearly chocked in my sandwich when I read a report this lunchtime that said "Cespedes joins Templiers Senart" Turns out it was an 18yr old French pitcher called Leonel Cespedes switching teams in the French league. :roll:

    I think this is a good trade for the Cubs and I like it. It also makes abundantly clear 2012 will be an irrelevant season as far as results is concerned (actually, a high draft position may be the positive result).
