    I disagree - interviewing him would have given away the fact that it was just a charade. Theo doesn't need to interview a guy he's worked with for years to know how that guy thinks.

    It's probably only because they need to fill pages during this international break (meaningless to Belgium anyway), but a couple of local papers are running quotes by Kljestan about how disappointed he is about not being selected by Klinsmann despite being first choice in the "only unbeaten team in the Europa league". He obviously feels he deserves a chance.

    Their payroll is also dwarfed by a division rival, ownership threw the last group under the bus despite 2 WS and a bunch of success. 90 win seasons are a huge disappointment. The fan base is insane. Anything less than 2 WS titles in the next decade will be deemed disappointing. There's a lot of negative about that gig. In contrast, the Cubs were fairly decent to both Hendry and Quade while nudging them out the door. That may just make them look a bit more attractive than the Sox.

    'The Luger' would be a great baseball nickname. He'll have to get his velocity into the 90s to be worthy of such a nickname though. Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg arranged a press conference today to announce the Daniel Thieben signing is official.

    Watching the rugby world cup final on French TV (the only other option on my set was Dutch TV) was glorious. Thrilling game to the very last minute.

    I noticed Grabow and Hill were missing on that list. :-& Hill is listed in the "Free-Swingers" list. My bad - must be the protective "preserving sanity" filter in my mind that refuses to acknowledge his existence on the roster. :wink:

    The queen sent Congrats by telegram? Is this the thirties? Probably royal etiquette ;) In fairness, their prime minister just congratulated them by phone.

    The third place USA v Canada game was cancelled because of rain. The Netherlands beat Cuba 2-1 in the final to become the first European winner since 1938. Queen Beatrix sent her congratulations to the team by telegram. 8-)

    That seems to have done the trick, Tim. It was almost impossible to get to the forum this morning (CET) but everything seems to be running smoothly now.
