  1. The UCI are a bunch of hypocrites in this whole affair. They knew all along what was going on but turned a blind eye because it raised interest in the sport in pzrts of the world that hadn't been so involved before. They even assisted in silencing those individuals that did speak out at the time, like Christophe Brassons in 1999, a professional cyclist who wrote a critical column in Le Parisien after Armstrong's stage victory in Sestrière that ultimately cost him his career.
  2. The local version of The Onion is having a field day. The headline reads "Armstriong denies ever participating in the Tour" http://de.rechtzetting.be/2012/10/11/armstrong-ontkent-tour-te-hebben-gereden/
  3. That's not what I mean. San Siro was completely different situation; they would try to control things and anything but a blowout was an ok result there. Liège was a high-tension war (and had been billed as such all week) that looked very ugly on TV. My guess is their coach views Kljestan as someone very useful in certain situations, but maybe mentally not up to it when things get ugly. To Kljestan's credit, I have to admit he's looked very solid (and sometimes even impressive) in every game I've seen him play so far.
  4. Kljestan spent the entire game on the bench last Sunday (a match at Standard Liège that turned out to be a disgraceful war - Anderlecht's coach seems to share your sentiment)
  5. Who was the lone genius that got this right?
  6. I usually put the Saturday afternoon live games on and do some household stuff at the same time. I had to sit down for that stretch though; that was highly entertaining.
  7. They are wrong - it hardly gets any notice outside of the UK. Maybe they meant non soccer sporting event. Even then I'd guess Rugby would still be more popular than golf. If you're talking popularity on a European scale, I think soccer and tennis would be the top two.

  9. I didn't watch the game, but a couple of friends of mine who happen to be Anderlecht fans were very pleased with Sacha Kljestan's performance yesterday.
  10. As a Bruges fan, I'm hoping that deal falls through (Everton is reported to have filed the paperwork too late). If it doesn't , him teaming up with Fellaini is good practice for the national squad, I guess. Good, hard working midfielder with a lot more technical skills than Fellaini, but less physical presence (and more prone to injuries) FIFA has granted my wish today. :D

If it doesn't , him teaming up with Fellaini is good practice for the national squad, I guess. Good, hard working midfielder with a lot more technical skills than Fellaini, but less physical presence (and more prone to injuries) I also have no trouble rooting for Spurs with the rest of you (because of Vertonghen and Dembele, obviously) With Benteke (moves from Genk to Aston Villa) and possibly Odjidja, the influx of Belgian internationals in the EPL continues, while the Dutch seem to be leaving (Van der Vaart and De Jong)
  12. The man has speed (that and Posey avoiding contact)
  13. Edu to Stoke confirmed - gets a three year deal,
  14. Only four hours left. 8-[
  15. Zero chance; Anderlecht just acquired 22 yr old Bram Nuytinck from NEC Breda to bolster it's defense.
  16. Confirmation of Charlie Adam from LFC to Stoke seems to pave the way for Clint. 10 hrs to go
  17. You can add Michael Parkhurst as well.
  18. Ample opportunity to learn how to curse in Danish after that draw.
  19. Only two days left ...
  20. Modric to Real is a done deal. And here's me thinking Real had too much debt.
  21. The point of discussion now is who can revoke those results. Both the UCI and ASO (the organizers of the Tour) are not talking before they are given more information by USADA, but this whole thing has been a turf war between USADA and UCI all along.
  22. I'd read about Jason's release in the Dutch press a couple of days ago. That ESPN piece is very good.
  23. As these rainouts are a recurring problem, wouldn't it hurt their financial situation? If it hurts enough, they might be OK to move.
  24. You obviously didn't see the midweek friendly
