  1. We have Jim Edmonds. Who needs Josh Hamilton?
  2. I love how people on a message board like to tell others what they can and can't tell other people.
  3. I hope Hurdle lets him go nine innings.
  4. Is anybody actually using that argument? That's it's not manly to wear a glove? I wear a glove all the time. But only when I'm, you know, playing. Why do you care about this at all? Teams allow people to come to the ballpark with a glove, announcers tell fans to bring their gloves all the time. Who the hell cares if some 30 year old wears his glove to the game? You can do what you want. I just would find it annoying to carry around a glove when I'm sitting 380 feet from home plate.
  5. From everything I hear, being over 30, being married and having a kid isn't cool anyway, so you can probably wear a glove on your head and it won't matter.
  6. That's what I thought when I saw the thread title. Tex needs to aim higher.
  7. It never was. Some would disagree. But I've always thought it was fine if you have children with you. No, there's never been any such unwritten rule.No gloves allowed for fans over 12, man. C'mon, you're killing me here. why? this is the stupidest rule ever. if you cant catch a screaming line drive, bare handed, you're not a man!!! i'll take looking like a dork if it means i'm not dead by the end of the game, kthanks I think people are talking more about the grown men who bring a glove when they sit in the bleachers.
  8. Personally, I'd like to see 4 or so good starts at AAA before bringing him back up to the majors. The last thing they want is for him to not be quite ready and then have to send him back down or whatever. If he comes up, it better be for good.
  9. Yup. I have heard that Jimbo goes into full Prior bashing mode after a few Whiskey waters. Wasn't there a pretty revealing piece on some website about a luncheon where Hendry went off on Prior and was very candid? I seem to recall that from a ways back. Yeah, it was on Hire Jim Essian. That's right. I remember reading it, but never being sure if it was all true or not.

  11. I'm just surprised that Beane's answer to the depth issue was to throw in a pretty good 25-year-old pitcher.
  12. It shouldn't.
  13. Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but the ESPN story had an interesting sidebar.
  14. it's really not. Yeah, I don't know how he can say that. Even if Harden were to get injured, the Cubs aren't any worse off than before. The only contributing player they lose (for this year) is Gallagher, and Gaudin serves as some insurance for that. There isn't as much risk involved as a lot of people think.
  15. Where's that thread? I'm amazed you've lasted as long as you have here. Shame on you. Shame. On. You.
  16. No to Burnett, Hudson or Harden, period. About the bold, Rich Hill. He's a better pitcher than Marshall and seems to be finally figuring things out. I don't know about you guys, but a rotation of: I'm not sure if a few good innings against some 18-year-olds means he has figured it out.
  17. Unfortunately, he just donated the money to Jason Marquis.
  18. It's insensitivity like this that brings down this forum. The man has a life threatening illness and all you do is bring him down. Nice. Real nice. When I read some of you people's posts I just throw my hands up in exasperation. I'm sorry for singling you out, you aren't the only one in this thread in need of a life check. Oh please. Billy said some dumb stuff in his post and then everyone made fun of him, and then he told people he had cancer. Then it got awkward. Bringing up his cancer, unrelated to anything at all, was his fault. It doesn't change the fact that his original post was hilarious.
  19. "Francoeur Baseball's Superman" got 13,000 hits. "Francoeur is Hitler" got 8,000 hits. "Francoeur lives on Jupiter" got 8,040 hits. 72,500 for Francoeur is the worst ball player ever. 43,000 for "francouer the is major minors kid young arm baseball player sometimes braves atlanta ball hitter double"
  20. A little more understanding that you called Jim Hendry to try and tell him to make a deal, talked to a secretary and then posted it on this bored? Nope, I fail to see the connection.
  21. and i never said that. and it's not a meaningful analogy for the reasons i pointed out above. i've argued with lots of people about rich hill over the years, and, i have to say, you are one of the worst. and that's saying something. Awesome. Thanks for the personal attack. In kind, I take it as a compliment that one of Desipio's most oft-whipped NSBB posters doesn't like me. i wouldn't take that as a compliment. What's Desipio? Did a google search and it looks like it's just a blog to me, which is pretty different than a message board. it has a message board. it's just as self-loathing as Dodger Blues, but about 1% as funny Oh, I found it now. Looks like you need an account to view posts though, so I can't judge anything.

  23. If Rothschild gets the blame for Hill, does he get the credit for Dempster?
