  1. Can you and Derwood just put each other on ignore already? The snide remarks back and forth are getting really old. really? that one's the tipping point? he made a pretty ridiculous comment about kids' skulls (?) being more durable (?) than adults' and i kinda called him on it with a little smart ass remark. if it was anyone besides me making that comment, you wouldn't have said a word. I wonder why. +1
  2. I bid $1,700. I guess I didn't cut it.
  3. It's these kinds of posts that really help new members feel welcome. Good grief.
  4. this isn't constructive or valuable in any way And that is?
  5. You act as if the Phillies have enough to even get the Rockies to the table, much less acquire Holliday. The Phillies just traded their 2/4th best prospects for an innings eater, and this while their system was't exactly overflowing with premium talent. So, you can rest easy, Holliday won't be going to Philadelphia. I was only speaking in hypotheticals. You know, like, "How good would the Cubs be with Josh Hamilton?"
  6. I really hope the Phillies don't get him. Rollins, Utley, Howard, Burrell, Holliday. Yikes.
  7. If we put together close to the kind of season this year that we could (WS ) I'd be utterly shocked if anybody fired Hendry. Even if Cuban bought the club and disagreed with Hendry philosophically, he'd still likely keep him on for a year or two to keep some stability in the organization and "reward," if you will, the job he's done putting this team together. Plus Hendry is widely respected throughout the majors, meaning Cuban keeping him on may promote his acceptance with other teams around the league who may otherwise be slow to do so. I think that only makes sense though. It'd be weird to fire Hendry after two very successful years. While he has his flaws, he's still among the top 12 or so GMs in the game, probably.
  8. He's actually a .900+ OPS hitter.
  9. Meh. He's only pitched twice since July 9, including the All-Star game. I think this is fine.
  10. His OPS is in the upper .800s. Probably want to change that.
  11. His stolen base efficiency -- 90 percent over the last three seasons (!) -- is pretty impressive, I have to say.
  12. No, that's absolutely not possible. He's Rich Hill. Whatever happened to him was the fault of someone else.
  13. Don't make me start another drunken, ill-advised "Do you have cancer?" poll to lighten the mood around here. That'll learn ya, treyzzzzzzz!
  14. How do you possess a did?
  15. Fenway's OF defense #s are all sorts of effed up. So is Manny's OF defense.
  16. Speaking of Hamilton, isn't he the perfect sell-high candidate right now? The HR Derby and all the media hype has inflated his value quite a bit. He's obviously talented, but he's always a bit of an injury risk and he could fade down the stretch, since he has never played this much before. About an hour after the home run derby, someone offered me Granderson and K-Rod for him. I turned it down, but I'm going to try and get more from him. Just a thought.
  17. But will he bring a glove to the ballpark in five years?
  18. Aren't there high school players who just have it done to get it over with? I think I've heard stories like that in the past.
  19. When his career batting average is .331, it doesn't matter if he doesn't walk. Tony Gwynn didn't walk much either.
  20. I agree. I know there was a lot of hand-wringing here about him pitching, but I'm glad he got in the game. He may never make another All-Star team, and he'll always remember being able to pitch in the All-Star game, at Yankee Stadium, no less. Good for Marmol, I say.
  21. Right. Because nothing was in the strike zone. It's encouraging that he's throwing more strikes, but it's against a really low level of competition. Given his struggles this year, I think it's a bit early to go all :clapping: :yahoo: :yahoo: over his performance in Mesa.
  22. Well, I must admit, it was pretty Brave for Andrew Jones to ask for that much money. He doesn't even play baseball!
  23. Maybe I'll be excited once Hill has success that isn't against high-schoolers.
