  1. I find the bolded part a little hyperbolic.
  2. You've gotta be a real douchebag to beat your pregnant girlfriend.
  3. He had like a 79-game hitting streak last year or something.
  4. Even if Jeremy Hermida wasn't totally mediocre at baseball and it would be a good idea for the Cubs to acquire him, would they really need to overpay with Josh Vitters? wait, so hermida is mediocre now because he had a bad year last season? He's fine. He's not as good as many people around here seem to think he is.
  5. From what I've seen, he's probably a LOOGY. Decent breaking ball with some good snap, but I'm not sure about the fastball and how that'll translate. He's going to have to spot it better than he has in the past, because he obviously won't get away with mistakes like he did in the CPBL. I could see him being a useful lefty out of the pen, but not much more. Cubs might as well stay away.
  6. Huh? I understood what he was doing. He threw a bunch of guesswork into his metrics and tried to pass it off as advanced methodology. You can't randomly assign values and weights to formulas and then run the formulas as fact. Except for it was neither guesswork, nor random. Whatever you want to think.

  9. So you eyeballed some metrics that have questionable and still-unproven methodology, threw in a few predictions of what you think might happen and, let's say, a few arbitrary bonuses and ... Voila! Joey Gathright is better than Bobby Abreu, even at the same salary. Stunning that anyone would question this post.
  10. He's probably not in good shape after mostly sitting around for the last , and he'll turn 45 next season. He wouldn't put up anything near that line. He's also going to trial for obstruction of justice in March, so there's that minor inconvenience as well.
  11. Sheets should follow Kerry Wood's lead and try to become a closer. He'd be unhittable for one inning at a time.
  12. How is Adam Dunn an "evil"? "Flawed, but still good" would be my description.
  13. If I recall, Troy O'Leary faced a lot of Irish-African-American backlash while here.
  14. Let's trade Soriano, and try to sign Manny, Dunn, Burrell for the outfield. The sheer comedy of their defense would more than make up for the runs allowed.
  15. Not if he keeps OPSing in the 600s.
  16. How do you figure? His OPS+ the last three years are 125, 121, 124 and that comes in a pitcher's park. I don't like Ibanez all that much, but to say his bat is "mediocre" is pushing it.
  17. Go all the way to the bottom where a reader responded to the Blog...it's HOOPS.... Where's he been lately? Hoops left the board after a member questioned his integrity or something like that. I could be wrong, but I think it was over a spat with Meph. He was way too sensitive.
  18. what defensive metrics do you like the best? Whichever players can best field a rat off a DeMarini.
  19. Nick Weglarz, too.
  20. Zambrano for Grady Sizemore.
  21. I was a little unclear - I just meant that if he goes through a rough patch and gets booed, he may not handle it well. Didn't mean to say it would definitely happen.
  22. Is anyone else concerned that Bradley couldn't handle deal with the media for a major market team? This is the same media that goes overboard against Ramirez for supposedly not hustling enough. I'd be more concerned with how he handles Wrigley fans, who'll start booing him after his first 0-for-8 stretch.
  23. If there's one thing Lou has done here, it's play the guys who deserve it. Who has rotted in his "doghouse" that absolutely should have been on the field?
