  1. Despite what we're all hoping from, it's hard to say he's gotten a raw deal in the past, given his behavior. Why? Because he threw some balls and some bats that one time? Since then he's been pretty clean. We can point to that thing with the ump last year all we want, but when you get down to it, the ump walked after HIM, not the other way around. The problem is he throws some bats/balls/coolers/whatever once or twice when he's young and those images get replayed year after year after year. Now all of a sudden he's got this reputation as a nutcase when his true persona seems to be nothing of the sort. Last year he tried to get into the Royals' press box and go after one of their broadcasters for saying things about him.

  3. I disagree that he's made a ton of bad moves. His only huge mistake was signing Ben Wallace, I feel. Unfortunately, he hasn't made any great moves, either. To me, he's the definition of mediocre.
  4. I've pretty much hated baseball for the last four months, but Carlos with an absurd mustache sucks me back in.
  5. Not exactly a denial of anything.
  6. what just in case he dies during spring training? Well, it would have to be a little longer than that. The Orioles would be very foolish to keep him up from the start of the season. He'll have to at least stay a couple weeks in the minors and he has a decent shot of staying down there until June. MacPhail says that Wieters will start at Triple-A. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baseball/bal-sp.macphail13feb13,0,5690378.story Probably makes sense. They're not going anywhere this year, so why start his clock now when they don't have to?
  7. yes, plz, let's get Elijah Dukes, Lastings Milledge and Milton Bradley in the same clubhouse. Dukes & Milledge were in the same clubhouse last year and they didn't go on any gang banging rampages. Dukes has HOF talent. its worth the gamble. He told his wife (on multiple occasions) that he was going to murder her.
  8. So you're arguing that Al Jefferson is not a franchise player because he wasn't as good as Kevin Garnett at the start of last season (when Jefferson was 22 years old)? That's a tough measuring stick. I think your list doesn't take the future into account very well. I guess if we're talking about this season, that's OK. But if we're talking about "giving up the house" for someone in order to build around them, Jefferson should be among the top 10 guys in the NBA.
  9. Pretty good list. I would quibble that Arenas is pretty overrated when healthy (needs the ball too much and terribly inefficient). I'd also go far enough to call Al Jefferson a franchise guy. He's barely 24 and is already one of the best low-post guys in the league. Considering his age, ceiling and talent, he's one of the most valuable guys in the entire league.

  12. They were waiting for the stimulus to pass.
  13. That doesn't have anything to do with Gordon's ability. It's just a reflection on the makeup of the Bulls. I agree with you that he's often asked to do too much and that forces him into doing things he shouldn't (dribbling too much, trying to create one-on-one, etc.), but again, that's not really his fault. I just think he takes way too much crap from Bulls fans and it's undeserved.
  14. I can... He is a selfish player in a contract year. You couldn't be more wrong if you invested your entire financial future in calling cards. Look at Gordon's numbers this year, and compare them to the rest of his career. He's pretty much on par with every other season, except he's more efficient this year, shooting at a better percentage. I could see your argument if Gordon was getting his 20 per night while taking 25 shots. But he's not. In fact, he's actually at a career-low shots per 36 minutes. In what way is he playing selfish? He's having an outstanding season.
  15. Fixed.
  16. All the BA, OBP and SLG appear to be rounded to the nearest .01 I see that, but it's still weird that every team in the Central besides the Cubs is projected to hit .260. Did they just pick a random number for the entire division or something?
  17. Why is every team in the Central projected to hit .260 except for the Cubs?
  18. I wasn't sure if he was referring to Shark or the projected standings, or something else. Thanks for clarifying.
  19. What's irrelevant? Or are we just saying words without any context? Syphilis!
  20. Kind of a crappy way to treat a player. Why wait until February to release him?
  21. Why wouldn't Sammy cheat? Lots of other players were doing it, and we already know he wasn't against the concept of cheating after he used the corked bat. I'm sure he thought it would give him an edge, so he probably went along and did it.
  22. I predict that Jocketty fires Dusty by July.
  23. I don't think anyone on this board really needs Peavy - and I doubt many could come up with his salarly . . . ;) Plus, what would he do for me? Can he type at least 80 wpm? Can he cook?
  24. It's a trick to make this fall short of the Roberts thread.
