  1. Every one of you should learn the difference between complimentary and complementary.
  2. No, he's being knocked down because he isn't fast or elusive. Those are kind of important traits for a running back. He's a fine 3rd down running back. Maybe 10-12 touches a game. That's about all.
  3. I think Forte might end up being the Bears version of Ryan Theriot. A guy that they way overvalue and think is good, so they don't want to go out and find a better option even though there are available ones.
  4. Bates called the offensive plays during Cutler's last year in Denver.
  5. Meh. Not that big of a deal.
  6. Why not? Because it destroys the moronic argument that DH's are only part-time players? WTF? Why is that a moronic argument? They literally play about 5% of the time during a game, if that. There are terrible defensive players in the Hall of Fame whose fielding was so bad that it made them less valuable. Just think of Edgar as a guy who provided neutral value defensively with awesome offense.
  7. Eh. I don't know. Weis' really isn't all that innovative. His offense is basically the West Coast offense with a few modifications. I think it'd be a lot more similar to Ron Turner's offense than most people would like.
  8. :rotfl: Can someone get Mr. Martz a Kleenex? He has something on his nose. Yes, he does. He wears glasses.
  9. Forte wasn't all that good when he was a rookie, either. At least not as a runner.
  10. He is actually taking over offensive play calling as well. He's a disciple of scripting the first 15-20 plays of the game. Week 1 script: Run left, run middle, run left, punt Run left, run left, run right, punt, Run left, fumble Run left, run middle, stretch play left, punt Draw play, run left, run left, punt Sack, sack, run left, punt
  11. If those last few games were really so important, why didn't they keep Turner? His body of work. They kept Lovie in spite of his body of work.

  14. Dug this up from when Bates was hired at USC.
  15. I think we're also going to hear Weis' name come up a lot during the search, whether it has any merit or not.
  16. This is from a few weeks ago, but I wonder if it's still applicable. I guess Cutler really likes the guy, which probably means something. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=4722057
  17. So Martz has been mentioned, but who are some potential other offensive coordinators that you would like to see? The failed-head-coach-turned-coordinator model seems to have worked for some teams. I'd like to see someone who has proven they can work with quarterbacks and develop them. Someone who can actually adapt to personnel instead of jamming the current players into their own philosophy. The sooner they can get someone hired, the better, so Cutler and everyone else can start learning the system..
  18. Yeah, the Sonics are pretty good.
  19. I know Martz has the potential to turn out badly, but I'm really curious to see what he would do with a quarterback like Cutler. It could be a great hire.
  20. Vikings 595 Bears -7
  21. They'll end up with the equivalent of Ron Mercer. No way LeBron, Wade or Bosh wants to come to a team that blows 35 point leads to Sacramento.
  22. These are all valid points, but firing Vinny now as opposed to in January or April won't accomplish anything. They're going to have an interim coach, because no respectable coach will want to come in midseason and try to clean this up. As long as Vinny is fired before the year is over, or within a few days of that, it doesn't really matter.
  23. For the record, I went with Manning at the last minute. I guess Schaub could end up having a better game, but I'm pretty pleased right now. I would go with Jackson still. There are certainly reasons to bench him, but I don't really trust Jacobs yet. Plus Washington has one of the better run defenses in the league. SJax is probably going to get 20 touches, since he's their only offensive weapon.
  24. But how much of that is on the receivers? Cutler has been horrible and there has been virtually no running game to balance the offense. I'm not saying that the WR group is outstanding, but I think there is plenty of talent there. It's just not being utilized right now for a variety of reasons. I wouldn't be adverse to adding a top flight WR this off-season, but if resources are limited I think there are many more pressings needs for this team. A big part of the reason Cutler has been "horrible" is because his receivers can't get open, cut off their routes, fall down all the time, can't catch, whatever.
  25. Quantity, I guess. But as you said, they don't have a top-flight guy or anyone close. Even with the "depth," It's still one of the five worst WR corps in the NFL.
