  1. I hope Hendry hires Lansford after his affiliation with the Giants' cataclysmically-awful offensive this year, only to watch the ensuring carnage around here. Actually, no I don't.

  3. But he's unquestionably the best hitting coach in baseball!
  4. I'd sign his son to be the last bat off the bench (and totally hilarious defensive replacement) if it meant Duncan would come here.
  5. Good news that it could get done this early in the offseason. If he's truly a more mechanics-driven coach, it'd be great if he could work with our players as early as possible. It's tough to make big mechanical changes in March/April and make them work in the season.
  6. rotoworld said 6 year 42m, 18m in bonus, 900k-1.5m per year for 2009-2012, potential for 4m incentives. I'm guessing it's roughly a 4/9-12m right now including 2009. Not bad at all.
  7. That's really weird.
  8. Is Adams all that expensive? I don't have a contract breakdown, but could a lot of the money be tied up in bonuses that have already been paid? Right now, I kind of like the move. He's clearly a physically gifted player and I'm betting Marinelli knows exactly what he's getting.
  9. That kind of argument doesn't really fly 'round here. We're privy to pretty much everything Hendry knows, if not more.
  10. That's OK, I *wanted* to be swayed. Thanks (also to Tim) for passing the article along.
  11. So far we haven't seen anything that indicates Jaramillo has much to do with it. I think The Ballpark is a much bigger factor.
  12. I credit him with Mark DeRosa and successfully fixing Andruw Jones I think most hitting coaches have a few guys they can point to as success stories. Also, I'm not sure he really fixed Andruw Jones. Jones only had a 103 OPS+. I know that a big improvement over the previous few years, but that's hardly a notable accomplishment. Is there any further substantial evidence why Jaramillo is a must-have guy?
  13. This is awesome.
  14. I'm also wondering what exactly makes Jaramillo so appealing. Someone said earlier he's "without a doubt the best hitting coach in the majors." I'm not even sure that can be quantified.
  15. It's fun that people still think Bradley is a good baseball player. His body is shot. He's done. And he's crazy.
  16. Gus is fantastic. He's a love or hate kind of broadcaster. I personally hate him, but that's just because he sucks.
  17. Yes, that's it. There's definitely going to be a bidding war over Milton Bradley.
  18. I don't care if he's shorter than Kiefer Sutherland, he was the best rebounder in the history of college basketball. That doesn't mean squat in the NBA. Actually, it does mean something. Rebounding is the skill that best translates from college ball to pro ball.
  19. Haven't the Cubs learned anything from not offering Kerry Wood arbitration? What a total disaster that turned out to be for the franchise.
  20. I don't care if he's shorter than Kiefer Sutherland, he was the best rebounder in the history of college basketball.
  21. I bet he doesn't winter in Detroit. Amen. Grosse Pointe, I bet.
  22. kudos Because Old Hoss Radbourn was not discovered with a computer, dargbloomit! He was discovered because 130 year-old Petey "Garbageface" Krunkston, who had been a rookie league manager for 142 years and had seen a [expletive] ballgame or two in his day, woke up one morning with a wart shaped like a flame on his left arm, and he turned to his wife of 186 years Edna Mae and he said, "The flame mole's back, darlin.' I's a gone and what been done and moseyed to the ballpark -- there's sure to be a great future prospect a-lurkin' about, iffin' the flame mole done appeared-a-mafied on m'arm!" And he did go down there t' ol' Brasston Park, and sure 'nuff, a 4 year-old Hoss Radbourn was thar, an' he was a-throwin' and a-hittin somethin' fierce! And bloogburrmit if Garbageface didn't sign that 4 year-old right then and there! And he became a Hall-of-Famer!!!!!
  23. Not a big Joe Buck fan, but at least he's a technically competent broadcaster. He's still a smarmy doucherocket, though.
  24. I know it was preseason, but everyone knows rebounding translates from college to the NBA. Doesn't mean much, but it helps illustrate the point a bit.
