  1. Maybe he just wanted to get in costume to see This Is It.
  2. I'm sure the Sox would just be thrilled if Hermida decided to crack a .750 OPS.
  3. Sure, maybe for like a year at $800,000.
  4. Oh, forgive me. You're right. Teams are probably lining up to trade for a guy who, if he hits, won't be the worst first baseman in baseball.
  5. How does it fill two holes? Jake Fox has almost no value to a National League club.
  6. He's one of those things.
  7. I'm sure he does. But he's almost 29 now and has probably shot like 600,000 jumpers in his life. It's not going to get much better. Hey, I didn't say that. I've done that twice in the last day. Sorry.
  8. Sam Fuld for GM!
  9. I'm sure he does. But he's almost 29 now and has probably shot like 600,000 jumpers in his life. It's not going to get much better.
  10. Oh good, more offseason talk about acquiring Jeremy Hermida.
  11. Maybe if that prospect's name was Starosh Vitterstro.
  12. Interesting quote: Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that sounds like they expect Hendry to do well this year or he's gone.
  13. That is great news. Of course, what really matters is how he plans to make it the top priority. If the approach is the right one, and he properly invests, it could have huge effects. Might take a few years to see the results, but I'm happy to hear it.
  14. There are few things dumber than broad generalizations of ever-changing groups of people.
  15. I totally believe that. There's no way Lovie gets fired, even if the Bears flame out and somehow finish 6-10.
  16. I have to keep asking, why does this matter unless it's affecting play on the field? Has there been any indication that it has? I completely see your point, but not everything can be quantified.
  17. Or you could maybe just not cheat on your wife.
  18. No one thought he'd go undrafted? That's surprising.
  19. I thought it was kind of pathetic, actually. Daulerio somehow got upset that ESPN's PR department didn't admit Phillips' affair when he called them, as if that would ever happen. So he decided to just dump out his inbox of random ESPN sex rumors as an attempt at payback.
  20. Unless Rudy can somehow get Milton to play half his games at The Ballpark in Arlington while somehow still playing for the Cubs, it's not going to matter.
  21. Are you kidding?
  22. Correct. I don't like Bissinger at all, but the article isn't that terrible. He gets what Moneyball was about, as he says right here: His basic point is that people have caught up with Beane, and he's having a harder time finding inefficiencies to exploit, so he's not winning as much. He's right, since the A's haven't been very good for a while now (averaging 81 wins over the last five years). There's dumb stuff in the article, like his brief passage about DePodesta, but I don't think it's as bad as people are making it seem.
