  1. Just giving you a hard time, of course. I'll pass on the Fire Jim one. I've wasted enough time this morning as is.
  2. The art is created. Now we just need the cash to place the ad. I'm thinking this coming Sunday edition. Thoughts? http://i46.tinypic.com/10ofz1j.jpg
  3. You never know. After the full-page Bradley ad, we could all follow it up the next day with a full-page "FIRE JIM HENDRY" ad and see what happens. This could totally work.
  4. Also, a full page ad in the Tribune is like $30,000.
  5. Of course there's a chance of that. But why in the world would the Cubs want to do that? To dump Bradley. I'm not saying it would happen, but I suggested a trade to the Yankees awhile ago that would be an example: Bradley + Marshall/Gorz + Colvin + Stevens/Atkins/Berg for Swisher + Marte. If the Yankees won't do Swisher, tweak the deal and make it for Cabrera while removing one of the pitchers from the Cubs. It's not pretty, but it's better than paying Burrell to sit on the bench and Bradley to play in Tampa. Including prospects is just throwing good money after bad. If the Cubs really just want to get rid of Bradley, they should just get rid of him. There's no reason to give up future assets in order to get a marginally better return. If the Cubs are going to trade prospects, they shouldn't be traded with Bradley. That only dilutes their value.
  6. My big problem with the article is that he suggests moving to Florida would hinder the recruiting of new players. Seeings as though Roy Halliday has specifically said he doesn't want to get traded to a team who doesn't play in Florida... I would have to say that the move to Florida would not hinder recruiting of new players. Plus, players will probably consider 50 other factors before where the team plays in spring training. Rogers also says that the move to Florida is as confusing as the Mark DeRosa trade, which really wasn't that confusing.
  7. I hope this turns out as well as the David Patton Experience.
  8. Phil Rogers is a board-certified ruhtard.
  9. It's also unfortunate that Ryan Theriot can't hit like Hanley Ramirez.
  10. Seriously? You have got to be kidding. You propose trading Ramirez, Bradley, Cashner, and Jackson for Miguel Cabrera and you don't understand why that's a horrible deal? As for Cashner and Jay Jackson, I'm still not convinced Cashner is as valuable as Castro or Vitters. I get the feeling that Cashner is a Samardizja type of pitcher. You probably get that feeling without ever seeing him pitch. Actually smartass, i saw him pitch in the fall league. And what gave you that "feeling?"
  11. I think the Bears are going to have trouble putting points on the board, and I can see Rodgers going off for about 350 yards. Packers - 31 Bears - 10
  12. don't follow Jimmy's footsteps and be the best QB in CFB this year and be drafted in the first few picks of the NFL draft and make millions? don't do that? any other advice? Or, you know, don't follow Weis' footsteps and win three Super Bowl rings as an offensive coordinator.
  13. Except the proposed deal would be made by major-league GMs, who presumably aren't swayed by ESPN's fleeting mentions of Yankees' prospects. Ehh i dont know about that. Look what happened with the Santana deal and how Gomez was suppose to be an elite young OF and we all know how average he is now. If the Bluejays trade Halladay to the Redsox, i will be that Bucholz is going to be a mediocre pitcher and not the supposed future ace that they paint him out to be. Okay.

  15. What makes people think this? Matt Murton deserves a shot but Sam Fuld doesn't. Not necessarily you, but this is where people who rely mostly on stats lose credibility in my opinion. They argue Fuld should not be given a chance because you can't rely on a small sample size of success last year and his minor league stats don't suggest he will be a good player at the major league level. Meanwhile, a guy who has bounced around organizations doesn't get the shot "he deserves". The great Billy Beane had no use for Murton. Why? It may have something to do with his lack of defensive ability and his hitting does not overcome his bad defense. Beane could have had Murton again but instead chose Jake Fox. Interesting. On the other hand, Fuld plays good defense, has better speed and has shown an ability to get on base at the major league level but most people here don't want to give him a chance. I'm not necessarily advocating Fuld for CF, I'm just trying to point out the double standard that exists. They both stink.
  16. In the United States and Canada?
  17. Miguel Cabrera had an .879 OPS in his first full season. Hanley Ramirez had an .833 OPS in his rookie year. I'm not sure what you mean by "struggled." Ryan Braun obliterated the entire National League right out of the gates. There's one you couldn't think of. There are plenty of others.
  18. This is 100% correct, except for the part where you say the Cubs were cautious with Patterson.
  19. Figgins has been worth an average of $17 million over the last three years. If he's anywhere near that over the next four years, that's a pretty good deal for the Mariners.
  20. Why not, he's a future DH in the AL. Because he doesn't hit well enough to cover up for his terrible defense? Is it that hard to understand?
  21. I think the tandem of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are probably the most popular athletes in Chicago. i couldn't pick either out of a lineup. Me neither. And a hockey player will never be the most popular athlete in Chicago unless they're Gretzky-good.
